Welcome to Ghost Cams, a collection of wildlife videos from an educational trail camera project in Alberta’s Ghost Wilderness.
A Super Close-Up of a White-Tail Buck
Don't you just hate it when the wildlife struggles with personal space boundaries?

A Small Herd of Skinny White-Tail Deer
มุมมอง 2212 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
A small herd of White-Tail does passing by my camera. They're looking pretty skinny as you can see their ribs. Hopefully they'll pack on the pounds over the summer with plenty of food available.
A Buck Runs off a Doe Before Stopping at the Lick Branch
มุมมอง 2314 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
The doe at the beginning of this clip disappears very quickly as soon as the buck shows up. He sticks around for a bit, scent-marking on the ever-popular lick branch.
First Time Documenting a Deer Scrape on Camera
มุมมอง 19921 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
White-Tails use their keen sense of smell as a way to communicate with each other. A scrape is one form of communication where the buck paws at the ground and then urinates on the disturbed area. This video clip shows the deer scraping in action and marks the first time I've caught this behaviour on one of my cameras.
A Young Bull Moose Just Growing His New Antlers
มุมมอง 95วันที่ผ่านมา
A young bull moose, with just buds for antlers right now, makes a brief appearance along the cutline early one spring morning.
Bull Elk Smelling and Licking My Camera
มุมมอง 2314 วันที่ผ่านมา
It is exceedingly rare for me to catch elk on my cameras, so I am always surprised when I see them in this area. These two bulls decided to do a thorough investigation of this camera, complete with tongue cleaning. Very thoughtful of them just wash my camera instead of destroying it!
Is This The Same Cow Moose and Her Calf?
มุมมอง 48414 วันที่ผ่านมา
While I don't know for sure, I'm guessing this is the same mother calf pair that I posted a few days ago (previous video in the 'Moose' playlist). If mom is pregnant again, she'll run this calf off before giving birth to her new calf.
A Curious Coyote Using All Of Its Senses
มุมมอง 63514 วันที่ผ่านมา
A very curious coyote who is using all of its senses. You'll see it sniff the air, scan its surroundings, and if you watch closely you can see its ears moving ever-so slightly in order to better hear. Perfectly adapted to the world around it.
Spring Cougar
มุมมอง 70914 วันที่ผ่านมา
I really wish the camera had captured the vocalizations displayed by this cougar. It stands there, making movements with it's mouth, but unfortunately the audio isn't caught by the camera.
Momma Moose and Her Calf on Camera
มุมมอง 4221 วันที่ผ่านมา
A momma moose and her calf make a brief appearance in front of one of my cameras. Based on its size, this calf was born the previous spring. Its days with mom are coming to a close as mothers typically run their calves off before the next calf is born.
Moose in an Early May Snow Storm

A lone moose out for a leisurely stroll during an early May snow storm.
Nose To Nose With A White-Tail Deer

Have you ever been nose to nose with a White-Tail? Well, now you have!
Moose Closely Inspecting My Trail Camera
มุมมอง 11221 วันที่ผ่านมา
Thank you for just smelling (and maybe licking) my camera, instead of knocking it around!
White-Tail Deer Leaping Over a Barbed-Wire Fence
มุมมอง 1.1K28 วันที่ผ่านมา
You can go over or you can go through! Doesn't matter how many times I see a deer leap over a fence, their athleticism always impresses me!

Poor moose it is a bad jumper
hahaha I'm sure they'll learn quickly!
Never seen glossy black Meeses? Moosees or Moosies… anyway they’re purty.
yeah they're pretty dark in colour in these parts.
Que animal seria esse?
That's a mother moose and her calf.
I'll come back when this has a billion views
😂so you'll never be back then?!
Sound✅️ Sight✅️ Smell✅️ Taste✅️
They are masters of using their senses!
The second and the third moose looking around to see if somebody is watching them jump clumsy.
i see no storm.
Yeah it probably should have said "lightly snowing in May" 🤣
Where’s the “Northern Exposure” theme song when you need it ?
Hahahaha excellent point!
Pretty cool how the one went through it, I've never seen that before. Deer are so cool, I think us hunters can learn so much from just watching trail cam footage.
Something i noticed, in one of my areas, was that mule deer always jumped over barbwire fences, but the whitetail would go under. Does obviously. Wt bucks would jump over too.
@@zzz7zzz9 That's interesting, it makes sense with how mule deer are able to navigate crazy rough terrain. At my property in West Texas they will scale a rimrock face in 10 seconds that you just took 10 minutes to climb.
@@averagejoefishing7833 yes, them wiley muley. It's crazy where i've followed tracks before. But ya, with the whitetail, watch for hair caught on the bottom wire, from them crawling under. And i witnessed them crawling, sneaking away from me one time. I surprised a group, in a thick area. Close quarters, we're all within 10 yards of each other. I caught flashes of running away, and leaping away, then, something catches my eye, and it's crazy. A couple of the wt are down, crawling out of the area. Just when you think you know deer.......
@@zzz7zzz9 Mule Deer are extremely rare in this area and I'm not sure why. There are lots just east of this location, but it's nearly 100% White-Tails here.
@averagejoefishing7833 I think I've caught more deer going through the fence than over it. I like the contrast of both in this clip.
A popular place to pee for coyotes :)
Yup, but I've also caught wolves, fox, and marten all peeing here too. I'll have to dig those up and post them all in a series.
Beatiful to see ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ THANK YOU
You're welcome! Glad you enjoyed the video clip.
Where is that? In which Country....... ❤ ❤ GREETINGS FROM GERMANY
Hi there! All of these videos were captured in the Canadian Rocky Mountains. Glad you're enjoying my channel.
Beautiful area with beautiful wildlife 📷
thank you so much!
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Where is this located?
This was in the Ghost Wilderness area in Alberta.
genetic mutation ???
It is my understanding that the variations in colour are the same as in humans, different melanin levels as determined by genetics. Black Bears can be black, brown, cinnamon, blonde, and even grey.
Love when they get up so close to the camera! 🥰
Yeah, me too...as long as they don't mess with the cameras! 🤣
@@GhostTrailCams lol. Oh they will! Bears are funny. The worst for us was actually a crow!
@@lorettaandjasonoffgrid a crow?? That's a new one. I've had a squirrel shake the ever-loving hell out of a camera once and I caught the whole ordeal on video.
@@GhostTrailCams yes and I was quite tucked off at the bugger. It was an awesome new solar camera. Crow pecked and pecked and pulled for hours. I got a lot of footage. The camera fell into the snow and as we were not there for a few weeks the snow eventually melted and the camera fell into the foot of water off the bank. Uggh! Only really cool thing we saw was from above. The camera fell face up. Captured an amazing Great Blue Heron chasing a crow. I hope he got hi. Hahaha! Really was more upset because I know for a fact a bunch of wolves went through after finding a dead moose about 50' away. Not cool crow!
@@lorettaandjasonoffgrid Wow! That's quite the aggressive behaviour for a crow...and the camera had quite the adventure of its own. Well I hope that doesn't happen again and ideally another wolf pack moves through so you can capture them on camera the second time around.
Absolutely incredible! What luck! Poor guy sure was trying!
Oh he was very determined! He's also a pretty big bull, especially for this area, so I am thinking he was able to mate at some point.
Very cool!
Yeah I thought so too! Thanks!
Dude this was 2012
yup, sure was! The content on this page comes from an educational trail camera project I was running with students. The project dates back to 2012 and I am now sharing the best content that was captured over the years.
@@GhostTrailCams oh so thats why all the dates are from so long ago!
@@JagerMaister_Gaming Yup, exactly! I'm working my way up to the most current content.
Where’s the grizzly bear?
This Grizzly was photographed in Alberta's Rocky Mountains.
Super filmik
Thank you!
Another one that just goes to show- deer ( and most every other animal) do whatever they feel like doing whenever they feel like doing it. Either one of those deer could have cleared the top of the fence with nearly zero effort on their part. Seen em do it a thousand times. People today try to put human emotions and thought processes in animal heads these days 😂 Thanks for the video. More of these detached people today should watch it
Thanks Max! Yup, deer and other wild critters pretty much do what they want, when they want to.
서로 먹히지말고 새도 토끼도 늑대도 다 살아나가야 하는데 사료를 줄수도 없고😂
You're right, it's good practice not to feed any wild animals. It's best to let them hunt, scavenge, and forage for food on their own.
💕Wow💚💚💚💚💚💜💚
It's pretty impressive, isn't it.
Ouch. The calf was not quite sure to begin with. Glad it recovered.
Yeah definitely. It was very unsure how to proceed. I'm glad it gained the skills to keep up with its mom.
Magnificent animals.
Yes, they certainly are. I'm lucky to be catching so many moose on my cameras. If you're interested please see my moose playlist for all the clips.
Dude Their Rut was in oktober
Yup, I know and that’s exactly when this video was captured. Check the date at the bottom of the video.
Love it, when I get two!!
First and only time for me. I've captured solo skunks a few times, but never two together like this.
That second deer is like "whoah, magic."
Hahahaha yeah, it doesn't even try to follow!
Just playing. They run and buck around.
Yeah, good point. I thought of that too but wasn't sure.
Super Pozdrawiam
Thanks!
I'm in Central Alberta and filmed a coyote months ago with the same injured paw. Cool vid txs for sharing. Cheers
It always amazes me how tough and resilient these creatures can be. Hopefully both critters made a full recovery.
Super filmik
Thanks!
Congratulations!!!
Thank you! It was definitely a highlight...and it wasn't the last time catching a Lynx on camera. More videos coming soon.
What animal is that in the first few seconds of the video ? It looks like a ferret.
You're right, it does look like a ferret. It's an American Marten (sometimes called a Pine Marten) and they're part of the same family (Mustelids) as ferrets. They're pretty common around these parts, but aren't seen very often as they are pretty secretive creatures.
@@GhostTrailCams Thanks!
