Meandering Newfoundlander
Canada
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 4 ต.ค. 2015
I'm a Canadian veteran who is living with depression, anxiety and PTSD. This channel will be me sharing Newfoundland and Labrador scenery, motorcycle rides, drone clips, a little poetry and perhaps a glimpse inside my daily struggles.
Just trying to keep myself afloat.

The Weather Sucks in Newfoundland and Labrador
As per the title, the weather sucks here...especially on the Avalon Peninsula. It has been raining here for close to a month now. It's demoralizing. It takes a toll on the mental health.
So, why do we live in a place where the weather makes us miserable?
Well, here's a few examples on why we live here...at least from my perspective.

My Remembrance Day at Bowring Park
มุมมอง 17114 วันที่ผ่านมา
Here are a few short clips of my favourite location for Remembrance Day, Bowring Park. It is located in St John's and as you'll see it holds a Caribou monument as well as a wall of honor. I like this place because it is less crowded and has a waterfall to drown out any unwanted noises. This allows me to more effectively reflect on my friends that have went before me. I shall remember them.
Bowring Park Labyrinth
มุมมอง 119หลายเดือนก่อน
It was a mindfulness stroll at Bowring Park today. I decided to trace the steps of the Labyrinth...brick by brick of grounding. This Labyrinth is just under 400 meters in length and if done right takes about 20 minutes to complete. Perfect place to practice deep breathing while listening to the sounds of nature.
Ketamine and Misophonia

Finished my ketamine treatment due to lack of effect...I am starting to blame misophonia for intervening.

Today I decided to join the Newfound Riders and friends for their annual Friday the 13th ride. Today we headed to Chapel's Cove and Avondale. Hope you enjoy the event.
Coffee at First Pond
มุมมอง 8862 หลายเดือนก่อน
Today I forced myself out of the house and went to First Pond for a coffee boil up. First Pond is located near Petty Harbour, Newfoundland and Labrador. It was a short stroll from my vehicle, but enough to make me winded. That's a sign I think that I need to extend that distance. I hope you enjoy the video...or at least get something from my insights and views. Take care.
Ketamine Diaries
มุมมอง 1962 หลายเดือนก่อน
Last winter I had around 18 sessions of intranasal Ketamine treatments. This was to tackle my major depressive disorder and PTSD. Unfortunately for me, this method wasn't effective. That brings me to today where I begin my Ketamine treatments intravenously. This is my first session.

Another $41, 000 raised towards the Autism Society! Well done Heritage Riders! Here is a video I put together of the 210 Run hosted by Smugglers Cove. We made our way around the Boot with stops in Fortune and Lawn. Great weekend with great food, scenes and people. I hope you enjoy the video...don't forget to check out the most amazing burnout in the burnout pit! Worth the wait :) 00:00 Gatherin...
La Scie: Newfoundland and Labrador

Here is a relaxing drone tour of La Scie, Newfoundland and Labrador. What a scenic community. From the moment I observed La Scie opening up before my eyes until the time I left, I was in awe. If you are up around the Baie Verte Peninsula, I encourage you to drop by for a visit. Be sure to head over to the lookout and capture the views from the cliffs. Sit back and enjoy!

Bonjour! Mr Newfoundland Je suis nouvelle sur la chaîne. Recherche d'un employeur qui pourra me parrainer avec un emploi. Merci pour les vidéos.
Bonjour ! ❤❤❤
Nostalgique❤❤❤ Paysage paradisiaque 🐳
I like the fact that my shovel isnt needed for rain
I'll take the train lol.
Hello there my friend, hope you are feeling much better. The rain can be depressing but the beauty of Newfoundland is beyond words. Living away, I always look forward to the videos you post and they open up other community that I may not have seen before. Always exciting and refreshing. Love the drone shots. Take care and enjoy your day.
Thanks for your kind words. It's a challenge but bashing through. I'm glad you enjoy my videos.
Hope things improve
Thank you.
It's been raining recently in the Burin Peninsula recently, so I feel you dude!
No escaping lol.
ikr
Hang-on !
Great video buddy , and the cherry 🍒 on top lol. Yeah we're not here fir the weather are we lol. Hope it clears soon my buddy we're not tanning we're rusting lol Hope you're doing well I've laxed on my video viewing lately, actually spent a lot of time on Cowan Heights fixing water damage at my sons place over on Frecker Drive 🚗 😅
If you're in Cowan Heights we may have crossed paths. I live there.
Nice bit of history with backing videos. Too bad the weather isn't great for going outside exploring. We get spoiled when the weather is nice with blue skies and then there is a bad spell. As you said it's not good mentally but eventually the blue skies will return. Thanks for sharing.
When it's nice, we forget the poor weather. When it's poor we forget the nice weather. Had a 30 second glimpse of the sun yesterday and saw stars at night... Just a tease.
The RDF is stinks just like every day is Monday
Love this video. So peaceful. Awesome filming from your bike during the ride. Are those GoPros that you're using?
Thank you. No, they are the DJI Action 3 and 4.
Hi there Jason, thank you for that video. We need to remember the fallen who gave it all, so we could enjoy what we have today. God Bless.
Very proud of my dad and his service!
Thanks Jason for your service, thanks for sharing your video
Thanks Jason for sharing. It was a privilege to serve alongside you.
Thank you Lloyd.. That goes both ways.
I said it before and going to said it again Thank you for your service
Thank you for your kind words.
Great place for personal reflection. The waterfall is very soothing for the soul. I just finished watching the National ceremony on TV. It is too regimented for me. I prefer your way of paying tribute. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you.
It was beautiful day for this today! I attended the service in Mount Pearl this morning. I attend every year.....Take care, Bluefin.
It was a great day for it. Thank you for your comment. Enjoy the rest of your day.
@@Meandering_Newfoundlander Thanks , you too.
beautiful
Thank you!
Great to see you out and treating yourself to a beautiful walk in Bowring Park. The fall golden leaves looked fantastic at the end. I had no idea what a Labyrinth was until you captured it on film. Now I see how it could help you relax and think about how to solve the puzzle. This is another location that I have not visited since I was about 12 years old. Thanks for sharing and good luck on your journey.
Great video and nice to see you out and about. keep moving forward
Great to see you are out and about. Lovely day in St. John's. I didn't know that labyrinths were actually circles and not mazes. The pond and water fountain is really nice for the ducks. You should have brought Rex with you as he would have had a lot of fun in those leaves. Thanks for sharing.
I am sorry to hear the intravenous Ketamine treatments didn't work out. I hope there are other treatments available for you to help with the issues you are having.
And what a beautiful day to be out!!!
Good to see you out and about. Keep on keeping on.
My friend, I have no idea what you're feeling because I'm fortunate not to have that issue. I am an over thinker and often it prevents me from doing anything I know it has to be tiring for you but I applaud you for openness I see that has a great strength of yours and its what you have to help you get through, your theory makes a lot of sence to my maybe you should run that by your psychiatrist maybe there's something for that som you can resume the ketomine treatments and find the light that you need. Sending positive energy my friend and just saw the Bowering Park Labyrinth video that's a great sign my friend , every step forward is a good one.
I didn't know that labyrinth was there Ive never walked one but can see how its something i could , I'm not sure enjoy would be the right word, not sure there is a better word though, relaxing might be a good word. I thought they were mazes at well. Yeah I understand its something to do slow. Yeah some people are inconsiderate of people's personal space. I've been behind again have some catching up to do. The carpet of leaves are awesome wouldn't want to rake them lol. Have a great week my buddy.
Hey there my friend. I have been following your journey and wish I was smart enough to put words here that would help you feel better. Being a man of few words, I can only listen and let you know that we care and encourage you to keep up the fight. Months ago I stumbled across your channel as you rode around Newfoundland and showcased several communities. I was born in St. Mary's Bay and left the Island in 1985 and moved to Ontario where I still live. Your videos take me back home and I want to thank you for that. Wishing you well, Larry.
Thank you so much for your kind and encouraging message. I go to bed each night with the intentions of getting out to showcase our province, but it's like Groundhog Day. Hard to get moving, but messages like yours serve as little nudges in the right direction. Thank you.
So it's allowed to fly a drone there? Awesome!
Funny lookin goldwing ol buddy :P
Hope all is well with you
Thank you.
Awesome share
Wonderful images, thanks for sharing the beauty
Beautiful drone clips!
Looks like a dandy spot. I was looking for somewhere different to do a short hike on Saturday so I will check out this area.
Hi there my buddy , you said its a small step to come here today , I see it as a great step, one in the right direction. I feel that you realizing there are as you describe them, "trivial" Or "Silly" things is also a step , but really they are not silly nor trivial they are very real for you and man and they are hurdles that you WILL Overcome I'm sure. Not feeling the joy or excitement in things that you feel you should is definitely something I can relate to lately , obviously not to your level but I guess you can say I have a very minor inkling of it. If it means anything, I hang on to a quote of yours from many of your earlier video to keep pushing myself along, "Fake it til you make it" It's one thing that I use to push myself out doors many days, that along with my dog that's after me every morning to walk. SO keep Faking it my friend , and one day you'll realize you're not faking it it's real and it's great.
Hey you better at least go start the bike and apologize to it! Everything else is normal. Thanks for sharing. Always look forward to your thoughts so keep them coming.
Hey there my friend, good to see that you got out for a walk and put together a video. It's always good to talk about things and work at heading in the right direction. Many people struggle with Mental Health and it can be tough. Hang in there and work on small steps. The larger steps will follow. Thanks for taking the time to share an update. You got this!
Indeed, even the little steps are steps nonetheless!! Sometimes I think if it wasn't for my Otis the walls of my house would be the only things I'd ever see. I've been told to take it one day at a time, but sometimes it is even down to the minutes. Hang in there, reach out to others close at hand when able, and make yourself and the pup a priority. Thanks for sharing your journey and struggles as that in and of itself is an amazing achievement!!
Great job bud
Just got back from a two week holiday in Pouch (Pooch) Cove. It's as beautiful as it looks. Very restful sitting on the rocks listening to the waves crashing below.
Nice spot. Thanks for sharing!
🌊Ya need a bench thats not going anywhere to handle the weather there I imagine, it looks ready for truss.🪁
Great video. I was raised in Marystown, my Mom is from Salt Pond. Haven't been back in years, but deja vu kicked in pretty quick. Thanks for posting.
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it.
that was a great view from the drone and nice scenery by the pond, thanks for sharing
Glad you enjoyed it
Reading a book by Robert Clarke titled Luckey's Boat which is set here in Spoon Cove so this is a bonus to see this beautiful little cove, thank you Meandering Newfoundlander
Thanks for that. Might check out the book myself.
🫎! The cleanest air and brightest sun, the bluest sky over the most spectacular set of patterns on the wave anyone could hope for, a natural body healer I knows personally, a perfect recharger for your battery,(by battery I mean whatever is breathing us) that's what you get when you follow your bliss and aren't afraid, awesome. Keep it up, keep going, even in the winter months, keep going, and get out side, perhaps try saying this to yourself when you really don't want to " it's just "aweso" out there without "me!"." I've always liked this one by Emily Dickinson, she's from Amherst here in NS as you may know, and chose a life of recluse at 32, but you might not know she had a big 'ol newfoundland dog she named Carlo, which I'm sure made it easier. Understandably she was known for saying that she preferred him to the company of people! 😅Lol Anyways I hope you at least find it interesting. Pain has an element of blank; It cannot recollect when it began, or if there were a day when it was not. It has no future but itself, its infinite realms contained by it's past, enlightened only to perceive new periods of pain.-ED In my mind when I first heard this, it weirdly struck a chord and I had had enough at that point so out of necessity I was like well then Fuck you pain, sounds like you have a blindspot and you appears to be quite stubborn and narcissistic and I don't want to play with you anymore. No time for dat in life ehb'y! ❤️✌🏻🖖🏼
Great weather for a ride and the scenery and drone footage was awesome as usual. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching.
Once again thank you Jason. I was working and had to miss it but you helped me feel like I at least saw a few people who were there and travelled along with you guys virtually lol! Karen
