I have a Bosch version of the battery-powered skill saw. From time to time, I enjoy using a hand saw to show that anyone is capable of building with limited tools. I'm no expert by any means, but with a little elbow grease and some critical thinking, I can show folks it can be done.

Thank you for the comment! No, I haven't had the chance to run a 592xp as of yet. I agree they are fast from my experience watching TH-cam videos over the years.

592 with a 8 pin sprocket is a rocket 🚀

@@jtrocktree5409really? If that’s true I’ll throw an 8 pin on mine. One of the issues I have is I’m always bouncing off the rev limiter with my 592. I bet the 661 would benefit from that too. Those are no slouch.

@axesandthings483 8 pin on 28 inch bar , full chisel or full skip does real good , I also run 8 pin on my 572 with 24 inch bar , but it must be filed razor sharp , I like to cut fast and go hard !

The Stihl is a MS661C Magnum that currently has 42 inch bar on it. The second saw in the video is an Echo CS 590.

Wedges can be used to help guide a tree where you want it to go.

Didn't need the hinge the tree was already going in that direction with or without a hinge. Yes, I did see my buddy. Watch the video again, and you can see a piece of my hand motioning him to stop before I started my back cut. Furthermore, I watched my dad cut thousands of trees and never once used a hinge or a wedge.

@@MrJoRobb not using a hinge is playing roulette. I would seriously urge you to practice it and do it. Some day eventually you will pay some consequences for not doing so. Regards

@hulk7577 Thanks for the comment, and I definitely WILL NOT be putting my saw away. That tree was already leaning in the direction I put it down in, so once again NO HINGE OR WEDGE NEEDED! Also to clarify yes I saw my buddy and if you actually pay attention to the video you can see me motion him away and he walks away. I'm NOT a pro and DON'T claim to be. I have never and WILL NEVER cut trees for a living. Im just a regular guy clearing my own land to build a dream. Just because someone does something different than you doesn't make you right or wrong, it just makes you different.

@@MrJoRobb as a “Pro” I will just urge you to practice felling with a hinge. Some day it will catch up to you, I’d really not want that to happen to you. Last year there were a little of 27,300 chainsaw accidents including tree strikes ( reported) please don’t get added to that list

There is a clamp on the bed of the sawmill that secures the wood.

The Sawmill or the wood?

It's simple, and it works, so it's a win win!

The Sawmill was 13.5k with the trailer package. Without the trailer it would be 10.5 to 10.8k as it sits. This mill has 17 feet 8 inches of bed rails to cut on. The shorter version is a bit cheaper. Without a doubt I buy Wood-Mizer again. Made in the USA and I have local dealer within 1.5 hrs of me.

Originally was going to use the beam as one of the legs on a workbench. Once we got into the wood it was pretty clear the wood was basically firewood.

It was terribly dry rotted. To make it worse, we paid $80 for that beam from a "reputable" store.

@@MrJoRobb That’s what I thought but wasn’t certain. How long do you have to dry those before you can use them? Lot of questions my bad lol

@derwoodsdiy7710 We have a kiln with air flow, so anywhere from 3 to 6 months, depending on how dry the wood is when we cut it. Questions don't bother me at all. Ask all you would like!

@@MrJoRobb I appreciate it. I’m a woodworker but the price of wood is completely unaffordable so I’ve thought about slabbing my own. Maybe just a small, diy saw mill. I know very little about the milling side of wood production. It’s very cool to watch it.

@derwoodsdiy7710 That is why we got into sawmilling. My brother and I also do woodworking. We make cutting boards, challenge coin holders and name signs. Once we have enough of the Oak we have been milling over the last 3 months dries we are gonna build farmhouse tables and benches. We have an Etsy link on my channel by the way.
