Seeing Activated Capture & Feature Tracking - SharpCap 4 1 Pro
มุมมอง 6724 หลายเดือนก่อน
SharpCap 4.1 Pro has two amazing features that'll make capturing good solar, lunar and planetary data much easier - especially with longer focal length setups. One of the biggest issues is keeping your target in frame with narrow field of views. Feature tracking keeps the target locked on which can be achieved either by moving your ROI or by physically moving your mount. Seeing Activated Captur...

      I appreciate your concern! However, this setup has gone through many winter / summer cycles with no issues and the cables are looser than they look. From the camera down to where they connect, there are velcro ties to make sure there is no stress put on the connectors.

    Nice list and some good ideas I haven't tried yet. Getting a power bank was a huge change for me and meant not having to either run out of batteries or leave the door open to run a power cable. My list would include a head torch, a bigger spirit level for my tripod and an illuminated reticle eyepiece. My number 1 is the asiair mini which helped me get into guiding and plate solving as well as finally letting me polar align without polaris. Definitely honourable mention to getting a better laptop as I struggled with an old one for years, a zippy new one was transformative for planetary photography.

    • @bbroastro
      @bbroastro 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I agree with your suggestions too! A red head torch is a must and *almost* soo very nearly included it. Battery banks for sure. I've actually recently got two big Jackery power stations for remote telescope operation. Really a list of top 25 was needed haha. I'm glad the AsiAir has got you up and going, it's a really good gateway into imaging. The one thing most people don't take into account is the computing power you'll need for stacking and processing. That's part of the total price that is often overlooked but is pretty mission critical, especially if you want to do planetary imaging.

      @christopherthomas3403 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      👍 for the ASIAir. Best recent purchase for me. Just a shame it's pretty much ZWO specific. Power station(s) are the next items on my list.

    The ASIAir Plus 256 has been a game changer for me as a relative newbie to AP. There's no way I could leave any gear outside here in Stoke. It would be gone in 60 seconds. 😄 Hopefully I can move back to North Wales soon.🤞

    • @bbroastro
      @bbroastro 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I did actually consider actually adding NINA to this list, but I also appreciate it's not for everyone and especially as so many newcomers are entering the world of astro via the Seestar. Yeah security is the biggest concern I hear about leaving an astro setup outside. I'm based just outside of Wales, the skies here are great 🙌

    • @christopherthomas3403
      @christopherthomas3403 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@bbroastro NINA looks good. I have downloaded it to my PC, but not installed it. As my AP goodies are all ZWO the ASIAir is doing a fine job at present. If I do buy other non-ZWO gear then NINA will be utilised. Ah, nice, Welsh borders. I'm hoping to move to an SQM of 21.24, which will be miles better than the 19.4 I currently have. Although clear skies are currently at a premium anyway.🤷‍♂️

    I'm surprised you're not using a diffraction grate over the tube opening. I'm at a slight loss for the name of the instrument right now.

    • @bbroastro
      @bbroastro 18 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I'm pretty sure I know what you mean, for a spectrograph? If that's what you mean, I'm not currently interested in doing that as I prefer imaging and it would dismantling my entire telescope to make such a setup. If you mean a bahtinov mask for focusing, I don't use them as using HFR readings is more accurate imho.You can actually use the diffraction spikes of a newtonian as a sort of bahtonov mask, the spikes converge as you get closer to focus.

    I have the 250P, and thus, follow all such videos. Yours is BY FAR, the best! I think I'm buying that camera. I have a long list of possibilities. This seems worth the investment. Is the dispersion corrector worthwhile? I have an AstroPhysics Photo-Visual Barlow (BARADV). And among others, a 5mmTelevue eyepiece. Thanks. Winter finally got here 😢 clouds past 10 days. I just got the 10 to 1 focuser. SW USA, doesn't cary it. FLO sent it to US in 5 days. Amazing. It's time to clean my mirrors. Which colimation system do you use.

    • @bbroastro
      @bbroastro 24 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thank you Mike, I appreciate it! I'm also glad to hear buying from FLO went well. The 585 is really awesome for my setup as the sampling is perfect with the barlow I'm using in this video. The 585 sensor is sooo sensitive, even more so than the IMX533 which really surprised me. If you want to do imaging, then an atmospheric dispersion corrector is pretty much a necessity if you plan to photograph any planets below around 45 degrees - which for me, Saturn is always way below that. Even when I'm not using it (for example imaging Jupiter atm as it's so high) I keep it in my imaging train on nights with good seeing to increase the magnification of the barlow to 5x. I use a laser to collimate, I got mine from First Light Optics (I have links in the description) I hope this helps!

    • @mikehardy8247

      I want to capture Saturn before the rings disappear. And it's pretty much below 30 degrees here. I should receive the camera Friday. Thanks for being so passionate and helpful. I'll look into the dispersion corrector. I just haven't seen anyone else mention it.

      actually thats what big telescopes do they have multiple lenses instead of 1 though this can increase the distance that you can look at but putting alot of lenses can cause the light to scatter. thats why we make satellites that cost billions instead of just putting up bunch of lenses together 😆
