    Im currently scanning my collection using manabox which is VERY efficient with minimal version editing (correcting the set or card#) about half done at about 17,000 scans and im putting little cute cat stickers on the top corner of boxes that are already scanned...i organize by set for now but once im fully scanned ill sort them in a more useful way...I only want a digital inventory so its easier to see what I have to deckbuild or trade because there is no way I can remember what I have at this point, its outta control 😂

      We've also heard good things about Manabox and it's been around for a while now. With their longer and more frequent ads, we wouldn't advise to scan a huge collection with Dragon Shield anymore unless you pay for it. We're very curious about your new way of organizing your collection, so keep us up to date! There'll be a video that explains why this method makes a lot of sense for use in the way we use it. 😊 Thank you so much for sharing and have fun with your collection and deckbuilding! ✨️

      My collection is (when I don't coll3ct the whol3 set) in binders by Colour first, tyen Creatur3, Enchantm3nts, asorce4y and Instant ant those again sub catagorised by l3gendary, Reserved list, Full Art, Foil .... This I only do for the rares and GOOD uncommons. The rest go (colour ... bla bla) into longboxes PER SET ! That works for me , but the zipper binders (though tyere is allways a fault in any syst3m) do have the disadvantage that you cannpt add in pages later... Have a great weekend. 🤗

    As an attacker. Do you have to say how damage will be split before damage resolves or do you say that untiö the very end after all instants and everythinr are cast ?

    • @DragonandQuill
      @DragonandQuill 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      With the new rule you assign damage and then damage is dealt immediately. If the defender or you want to cast spells, you have to do so before damage is assigned. So you attack, blockers are declared (last chance to cast spells), then damage is assigned (split as you called it) and damage happens immediately.

      you need to play your protection spell before damage because its the only time you can do it. if opponent says 3 damage there and 3 damage then the damage happens and you dont have time to respond to those damages. its go to the damage and it happens right away so you kind of cant save your creatures

    • @DragonandQuill
      @DragonandQuill 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Indeed. In certain scenarios you can save a creature by giving it protection for example, but as the defender you won't have as much leverage anymore. We like it, as it gives attackers more power and thus speeds up gameplay especially with EDH being the most popular format right now and these games normally taking a while. 😅

      We are not that experienced to know when this could have been changed but the rule is here: 500.4. When a step or phase ends, any unused mana left in a player’s mana pool empties. This turn-based action doesn’t use the stack. But yeah, we looked the same way you did. 😅But there is a reason cards like Leyline Tyrant say 'You don't lose unspent red mana as steps and phases end'.

  • @silentmayan5427
    @silentmayan5427 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    There's a slight technicallity to your word choice here. You're word choice is right enough 99% if the time, but here's an edge case where it can be wrong. If multiple creatures block a creature with deathtouch. You can assign more than 1 damage to any of those creatures to spare certain ones. Any damage over 1 is excess damage and would be lost, but if they had a creature they wanted dead because it was bad for them, like Abyssal Persecutor, or they had death triggers thay were bad for you, like many devils, then you might would be okay with not killing all blockers. Example: you attack with a 6/6 deathtouch creature, and you attack an opponent. They have 3 1/1 devils that say, "when this creature dies deal 1 damage to any target." You opponent puts all 3 devils in front of you 6/6 to block it. Your creature with take 3 damage from combat damage. If you assign 1 damage to each devil then they will all die and your opponent can have all of their death triggers target your creature to deal the remaining 3 damage and kill it. However if you split the 6 damage between 2 of the devils, and left the 3rd alive, then they could only deal 5 damage to your creature. Meaning you killed 2 of their creatures and kept yours, and you're able to attack with it again. This example does not work if the creature has trample though. Since eny excess damage will be carried over to the creatures behind it, and eventually to the Planeswalker, Battle, or Player.

    • @DragonandQuill
      @DragonandQuill 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you very much for your time and thorough explanation! ✨️ We hope it helps other who see it! We have to shorten certain topics because shorts are... shorts. 🩳 We cover the first 'technicality' in the double blocking video where we state that you have to deal 'at least lethal damage'. So indeed, the assignment of damage is up to the attacking player. Trample will be a different video like this one is. 🙂‍↕️ But we explained a more complex case in the comments already. Just too many exceptions. 🤣

    • @sollmoll
      @sollmoll 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Actually you get to choose damage distribution as the attacker even when you have trample so you can always choose to "overkill" a creature it's just that your opponent gets to decide in what sequence you get blocked and in order to assign damage to any creature you have to assign lethal damage to that creature before replacement effects e.g. damage prevention. So yea you can always just assign all your damage to one target if you need an attack for whatever reason

  • @Doofindork
    @Doofindork 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I think the largest frazzle we had in a game was when someone was going to swing with a double strike, trample, deathtouch, 16/16 creature. It was blocked by a creature that was protected from the color of the attacking creature. At that point I just completely zoned out, they could look the rules up themselves, I wasn't in said combat anyway.

    • @DragonandQuill
      @DragonandQuill 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Oh wow, that surely is a more complex one. 😅 Had to look it up myself, to be honest. Apparently the 16/16 has to assign what would be lethal damage to the blocking creature with protection during first strike and also normal combat damage step, exceeding damage goes face in both instances, without the blocking creature with protection dying. So if the blocking creature is a 3/3, 13 go through during first strike combat damage step, and another 13 during normal combat damage step for a total of 26 damage going face. *takes notes* 📝🙂‍↕️

    • @silentmayan5427
      @silentmayan5427 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @DragonandQuill TH-cam seems to have eaten my first attempt at this comment, so sorry if this ends up being a duplicate. Protection doesn't change the criteria for "lethal damage." Lethal damage being "any amount of damage that is enough to kill a creature" and deathtouch makes all damage "lethal damage." I'm sure you know what lethal damage and deathtouch are, but for anyone who doesn't, I've included the definitions. So the 16/16 with double strike, trample, and deathtouch attacks. A 3/3 with protection from some aspect of that creature blocks. During the first strike portion of damage, the attacker assigns damage to the 3/3. All damage dealt to it is lethal, and excess is carried over with trample. Then protection says, "All damage dealt to this creature is prevented." Then the normal damage step happens, and it's a repeat of the previous since the 3/3 took no damage with the exception that the 3/3 now does 3 damage to the 16/16. So, in both damage steps, the attacker can assign 1 damage and trample over with 15. There is one edge case here that I'm unsure of. The attacker can assign more than 1 damage to the 3/3 as I mentioned in another comment, but I don't know if the protection stops excess damage assigned to that 3/3 from tampling over or not. For example, if the 16/16 assigned 3 damage to the 3/3. Since the 16/16 has deathtouch, 1 damage is enough to kill the 3/3, but the 3/3 has protection, and that prevents damage. So my question is, does "excess damage" get calculated before or after damage is prevented with protection. Like previously, this is a niche issue where 99.99% of the time, you'll want as much damage to trample over as possible and you won't want to assign 3 damage to the 3/3 because you only need to assign 1.

    Again also worth mentioning to avoid confusion all permanents technically have summoning sickness it just only affects creatures. For example if you have an artifact that can turn into a creature if you play that artifact then turn it into a creature all on the same turn it would not be able to attack/activate tap abilities(tho you could just tap them prior to turning them into a creature, but then why are you turning them into a creature). Exactly. That's also why most effects that turn target land into a creature temporarily will also give haste. They didn't always, but then you had people accidentally animating the land they just played since it was indistinguishable from the rest of their lands, so Wizards decided that wasn't something they wanted to deal with.

  • @KingBlarg

    Also worth mentioning most people don't realize that because of the specific wording of trample if you have say a 10/10 with trample and deathtouch that gets blocked by 5 creatures you'll assign a minimum of 1 damage to each of those creatures killing all of them and still having 5 damage left over to go face.

    • @DragonandQuill
      @DragonandQuill 2 หลายเดือนก่อน
