Im from Louisiana Mo and know this spot. Never camped there. Yet. I've lived in Jefferson City since 1978. I just retired in May after being a nurse for too long. My new goal in life is to resume my love for camping. Love your videos!

Wow! What a nice find, that would have been great for my trip to Sturgis, SD years ago. I will definitely add it to my list for the next time I go through there. I have found numerous little parks like that as I have traveled through Texas also.

Great video & it looks like an exciting area for wildlife viewing. I can't wait to get caught up on your videos & follow along on your trip. Last year while traveling through Texas I developed freezer problems after buying a box of ice cream sandwiches & was forced to eat the entire box of ice cream sandwiches in one day. ; ) Enjoy your trip & I will definitely look up those other Missouri Conservation Areas.

Lacey-Keosauqua State Park looks like a really great state park to check out with good camping options & I really like the idea of not having to make reservations since I usually wing it when I'm traveling across the country. Thank you for sharing another great State Park as an option for a destination or stop over while traveling, safe travels.

We just stayed there in July. Twice. On our way to Mount Rushmore and on our way back. We got site 61 for $10 a night with America 🇺🇸 the Beautiful senior pass. Thanks for the video!

I just want to say a huge thank you to you and your husband! I love how you check out the campgrounds and point out the really nice sites. My husband and I also work for the school district in Missouri. We plan on going camping like you guys do when we retire!

I was in this park a few days ago I did live in this lame town only thing worth in this town is the park that's it the town as nothing going for it no gas station no food stores & no shopping stores in that town. the park as kind of went down hill over the years but still better than rosiclare's park

Excellent hiking trails there, especially in the fall when the leaves change.

To go down to the beach area, there is 144 steps. The beach area is very private once you make it down all the steps.

We visited many of these same places in June, too. We camped at Lacey Keosauqua State Park and we also saw my husband's great great-great grandfather's house north of Keosauqua. It is on the National Register of Historic Places. Thanks for the video.

Dutchman's store is a Mennonite store. The area has a large Mennonite population. They have built a new store, but have to get it up to code. Love your videos as it is local to where I live. Glad you are going to Bentonsport. It is a neat town.

Wow, really nice campgrounds & within a day's drive from my home in SE WI. Thank you for sharing another awesome area to camp with multiple locations.

I've been to the Shimek Forest to go geocaching and hiking.

Looks like some nice camping areas in this video. Not to be nitpicky, but offered as constructive criticism, you need to check the sound levels of the background music for part of this one. I thought the music was a good fit for the video subject, but it was so loud during part of it that your narration was hard to hear. Other than that I enjoyed the campground tours.

You are saying Shimek exactly right! You spelled it slightly differently, but no biggie. By the way, I was told while growing up near there that a house down in the tiny town of Croton (pronounced crow - ton, south of Farmington on the Des Moines River) was actually hit by a cannon ball from across the river during the civil war battle at Athens State Park!

The "B" didn't make it in Van Buren in the video title lol. I grew up in Donnellson - about 5 miles east of there. So what was it about the northeast MO & southeast Iowa area that drew your interest to visit so many parks there? I live over near Peoria IL now, but am back in SE Iowa pretty frequently to visit my Mom. I really enjoy your videos also of the sites in the Shawnee National Forest. I'm fascinated with that area & all it's history & beauty - I have a grandson that lives in Shawneetown & would love to down there but have never been able to yet.

Wow - I grew up 10 miles from there (in Iowa just saying since it's very close to the Missouri state line) & spent countless times swimming there when growing up, but never camped there. I recommend Geode State Park about 45 minutes northeast of there, but as I remember the camp spots are right next to each other there also. TH-cam just recommended this video to me;-) Happy travels in your retirement!

That does look like a nice campground but I'm in the same type of camping rig with a pop-up truck camper & can hear almost everything. I do appreciate your review & will add it to my list of possible stops for the less busy off season.
