I used to think that the exit of a main characfer would kill a show, but I've been proven wrong many times over. Take NYPD Blue for example. I thought that nobody could keep NYPD Blue worth watching after David Caruso left. Then I felt the same when Jimmy Smits left, then when Rick Schroder left and Mark Paul Gosselaar stepped in until the series finale. Costner is a very good actor, but nobody is irreplacable in a TV show, and I think his ego also got the best of him. Maybe the absolute dumpster fire that Horizon turned out to be will give him a much needed humblig and put his ego back in check.

Executive Producer in these cases is many times paying for some of the shows budget. Exactly to have some creative control and it does sound like they had that in contract. If you do not then give Any of that Paid control... then you messed up aka it is just Sheridan's fault. Clean and simple. Actors often later on put some of their pay to the show to make it better with or without the caviat of wanting creative control and yes, you do have to then listen and work with them if the deal have been made to give some. Costner could have just then kept his money if not getting Any leeway.. That's equal of conning money from someone so why wouldn't he be fed up. It also not being like Costner wouldn't have actual things to bring in rather than speaking nonsense.

They had a golden opportunity when his character was shot and left for dead on the side of the road. That would be a perfect exit for Costner and they could introduce another strong character that could help the story going forward. I didn't like the governor arc for him anyways.

First off, let’s get this straight. This movie is not by any stretch of the imagination, a good western. It is a great example of California mentality Godless trash. I don’t know about anybody else, but when I heard them taking the Lords name in vain over and over and over and not seeing any shred of decent Christianity anywhere in the movie. I was TOTALLY disgusted and had to get up and walk out. In my mind, it seems that this is the TRASH that’s coming out of the California mentality now. That’s the way they are thinking.
