I am on the exit lane after 9yrs .Insurance reached 1200 years with 5yrs NCD then suddenly inflation and goes back to 2300+. Minimum take home per mile rate was 6 pound and now 4.75... 2 mile job will take you 20 minutes in i inner London +7 to ten driving to pick up..Its not flexible as the sell it because if you go out after you drop kids to school then No jobs on 4-5 pounds job every afternoon waiting 20+ minutes. Only choices is to sacrifice the weekends and have no life.. After breakdowns and all vehicles(ir vehicles rents and cleanings or breakdowns, pre licencing scratch body repairs and service .The headache of of keeping recipients and records...I would say nowadays it suits youngsters who don't have responsibility then use their red bull and just hit the road and take chances. Good luck to the retainers...And please don't go buying or renting big engines 7-9 seaters if you don't have back up plan or a good company to join. Especially if working in outer east London.

Uber pay too low for private hire driver. I pay car rent, insurance, petrol, income tax. After everything I make about 6 to 7 pounds a hour.

See you the other day near Shenfield station.. Had a passenger otherwise I would have asked to stop and chat.. I tried another company to work for other then uber but they kept all the good jobs for people they liked and passed the other ones on to those who wasn’t doing much for them.. It all depends on what you want to do. If you take airport transfers, chauffeur work, the flexibility is not there, as you can't just turn it off and go home/to family/on holiday, at short notice.🙏
