I Made 21 Pots in 3 Months | My Pottery Journey
👇🏻 Comment down below what your favourite pot is and whether you have any hobbies you wish to start in 2023! 👇🏻
-
Hi everyone! I’m back with an end of year video, reflecting on all the pots I made during a recent 3 month membership at a local pottery studio. I’ve been interested in making ceramics since 2020 and took the plunge to commit to a more self directed membership/ style of learning this year.
I talk through all the successes and failures with each pot. Ultimately, learning ceramics, as with any new skill, requires much patience for both myself and the craft. It has been an important antidote to the stress of clinical training, a rare and valued opportunity to enter a complete flow state. Having a creative outlet has been essential for my wellbeing.
I hope everyone has had a great 2022 and wishing you all the best for 2023!

How I Cope With Medical Training | VLOG
มุมมอง 3.7K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Medical school and post graduate training have not been an easy ride. In this video I share strategies of how I cope, or attempt to cope, with the emotional load the job inevitably comes with. These are techniques which I have adopted and refined through years of working. In this video I also describe a general framework to approaching coping strategies. Coping and wellbeing in medicine is a to...
Less Than Full Time Training, Exams, Tech Fellowship | Update
มุมมอง 2.4K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Hi! I’m back with a chit chatty life update video (with a special appearance by my cat Pepe). I’ve finally come to the end of hospital training and no longer have any night shifts, weekends, or evening on calls, ever! I also talk about the following: - Going less than full time for GP training - Starting a digital health fellowship with HEE - Taking the RCGP AKT exam - Thoughts on the future of...
How I Survive Night Shifts | Routine + Recovery | VLOG
มุมมอง 26K2 ปีที่แล้ว
I’m finally back with another vlog! This time I will be bringing you along a set of three weekend night shifts whilst on my paediatrics rotation. As someone who thrives on a regimented sleep schedule, I’ve always struggled with night shifts. I find them highly stressful - you are working against your body’s physiological circadian rhythm, making potentially difficult and complex decisions, at a...
The Definitive Guide to Choosing Your Specialty | Frameworks and Tools
มุมมอง 23K3 ปีที่แล้ว
In this video, I am inspired by one of the comments from my ‘day in a life’ vlog. Instead of going through reasons of why I chose GP, I go through frameworks and tools which will enable you to come to your own decision about what specialty to choose. When choosing as specialty, as with any career decision, there is much more to consider than solely what you find interesting. I hope this video s...

I have been working the night shift for five years. And now I’m trying to switch to dayshift. And it is brutal. I cannot stay awake during the day. I actually feel nauseous. I’m so tired. When I try to go to bed at night I just lay there. My body is still on the schedule and I don’t know how to switch it. Plus I ALWAYS GAIN WEIGHT WHENEVER I DO A DRASTIC SHIFT TO MY SLEEP SCHEDULE. I WISH THERE WAS A GUIDE TO MAKE THIS TRANSITION SMOOTHER. I’VE NEVER HAD SO MUCH TROUBLE IN MY LIFE. I’M SO EXHAUSTED!

How do you handle having so little sleep if you get up at 10 am after your night shift and just have a 2 hour nap? :( Poor thing!! I just got put on 12 hour nights 7 pm-7 am so I’m trying to learn how to switch my sleep and eating schedules. I’ve never worked nights, but am a night owl. I could stay up till dawn on an easy night, but working 12 hours at night just drags on. Lol! I am really hoping the night shift works out because it’s a 2 dollar an hour difference and I get to be a night owl, haha.

However, today I am watching this video as a gp trainee who is going to start a training programme in February 2024. This is an emotional time for me. Thank you for this detailed video 🤍
