Build stuff, paint stuff
I've been into the hobby of assembling and painting models since I was a kid. Whether its gunpla, scale models, or figures; I've always had a passion and great interest in the process of assembly and painting.
I chase aesthetics that inspire me, and love learning new techniques along the way.
I'm here to share my my process and passion for my various hobbies, and hopefully impart some knowledge that other people may find useful.

I know this vid a bit old but I'm glad I had to watch this because I'm just new in gundam building and my kits are bootleg hehehe. This vid gives me knowledge when starting to build Gundam by using the proper tools and set ups
glad it helped :D
I think your missing the straight pipe. the immediate u-turn that you have setup to your top-mounted blower is definitely affecting suction.
@@haydenstreib5204 the straight pipe? Im not sure what you mean.
th-cam.com/video/QseopVWr3N4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=wRUl50rIT59ttsEk Skip to 7:20 and this guy explains what I mean super quick
What is that rack you are using for a runner organizer? I love the simplicity of it but it also looks very sturdy being fairly chunky metal.
@@hexginnkgo VARIERA pot lid organizer from IKEA
I'm super new to the hobby so sorry for the dumb question, but why not just cut with the single-bladed nipper initially?
If you do it while the parts is still connected in the runner, you will notice that the runner scratches your nipper. It gives a cringe feeling and it might damage the nipper. So remove the parts from the runner using standard nipper, then cut it with single blade.
I mever got these videos, I built Lfrith with 0 cutters etc, just twisted and popped them from their spurs, 0 nub marks, never had the nub marks issue with gunpla, i have on warhamner tho
Ngl I have a single blade god hand as well as a standard nipper god hand and I used only the standard GH nipper for entire build and it works great no stress marks and very flush.
Hello I have a question. There going to be release of DX-Scale of Ikaruga are they the same?
I've been building for 5+ years, here's my tool recommendations. 1st kit (aka trial run) use flat nail clippers. Enjoyed it? Want to get into the hobby now? Single edge nippers, they are more expensive than standard nippers, but are infinitely better. With these you can cut right up against the part without clean up 99% of the time. Advanced tools, take your new hobby to the next level. Pannell liners, pour type, or fine tip. Fine tip offers more versatility. Use Gray on white plastic, black doesn't look overly good imo. I also recommend Gundam markers, or paint pens, this is a great step to cut out stickers, and do some customisation. With this step I recommend you use a clear coat, matte and gloss are available, use what you prefer the look of. After that the sky's the limit, air brush, kit bashing, whatever you like, you'll be a pro.
@@calebharch7229 Yeah. I really like this approach. Trying the hobby in different tiers is the way to go as its easy to feel overwhelmed in the beginning. Ive been building since the mid 90s and there was no tutorials on any of this stuff unless you bought magazines or went to events. Gundam markers and spray can topcoats is how I started my foray into painting too! One thing Id also like to add to that recommendation for panel lining, is archival ink pens. I really like Micron pens from pigma for panel lining as well. They are forgiving and easy to clean up. Great advice and tips! Love to see it.
you did a good job on that box
Depends. The small and medium nubs I cut flat with a knife, and the large ones I cut close and file. If it's blue plastic which shows stress marks the easiest, I almost always file then rub it with a fingernail or with a plastic parts separator to blend the plastic back into color.
Reason I don't use dispae even gh spn 120 b3cause they leave nubs while using hm105 & 109 leaves n9tuing and very flat without white marks. S I've just put my spn120 for display then sold my dispae 3.0. G9nna stick with hobby mio. Saves time in using a hobby knife 👌
Hi do you have a tutorial on sanding all surface before painting? Thank you
New to the hobby here. You saved my life
Glad my tips helped!
Awesome video man! The company really should've paid you for this one!
@moejuggler6033 ah its all good! An unpaid, unbiased opinion is needed.
I heard you like sanding.... Well have I got the hobby for you!
@@moejuggler6033 is it woodworking?
How do you know when to go from 400 to 800
Does this not turn into bot mode?
Unfortunately not, its a static plane
@plamomancer thx for response, do you know any model kits that do change?
@@kbpinglia some of the Bandai ones actually transform. I havent built any myself but I hear those are nice. Most of the Hasegawa ones are static plane or battroid.
Me who cuts it straight to the edge... No need to sand.. no nub whatsoever
Alternatively, you can also get rid of marbling by using a matt top coat. It's obviously still there, but the masking way from how light works due to matting causes the parts to look more uniform. Plus, if you want a softer look to a gunpla, like making it look like the armor is fighting off the colds of space, then this is the way to go.
What is a wash??
@@Ball-destroyers a wash is a thin and transparent layer of paint you can paint over a piece to add a filter effect, or shading to recessed areas. They can be water and oil based and a variety of colors. When applied to panel lines or recessed areas precisely, you'll sometimes hear it called a "pin wash", "panel line wash", "recess shading", or "panel line accent". A lot of companies make them, and you can also make your own.
i js cut a bit off then twist and use a hobby knife to cut off the rest
Incredible work ! Love your custom so much ❤ You do every pieces with patience and exquisite , wow 🤩, this work inspired me ❤
@@aipon1065 I'm glad you enjoyed the build! Thank you!
A late comment, but I have to share I'm new to gunpla, but I've been collecting Warhammer miniatures for the better part of the decade, and with me being the dumb and unteachable kid I was, buying nippers never came to my mind, just a hobby knife was always enough for me Well, my left thumb pad almost completely consists of scar tissue now
@@zaelnoxious7065 ouch! Yeah ive had my fair share of pokes to the thumb. Please get yourself a nice pair of nippers!
@@plamomancer already did, after watching gunpla tutorials and realising how dumb I was To think of it, I thought shredded fingers were just an unfortunate side of plamo as a whole

I just watched the episode where the Super Valkyrie debuted. The animation was so much better than the last few eps.
yeah the jump in quality is nuts, such a classic series!
Yeah I believe if I remember correctly that there was special attention to the mecha and how they were animated. Even the intro to the show was super high quality. Do yourself a favor and watch the 1984 Japanese movie it's one of the best quality animations of all time. And the story is fantastic. Or have you seen it?
@@ichigen511 I have! Its a great film. My favorite part is when the Macross is transforming. Also the way they animated the dogfights and how the missiles spread. Such beautiful animation.
I'm just using Standard nipper and Nail nipper. And it do so well 😂
@@jharealisticfantastic5112 whatever works for you!
What a great build! How long did that take you from start to finish? I have this kit on my backlog and I hope I can come close to what you achieved(wishful thinking!).
@@rmsamonte about 2 months on and off between working a full time job. Really, it was just patience and planning. Probably the toughest part was doing decals. The ones that come with the kit are old and started to tear, liquid decal film from Microscale Industries fixes that, but made the decals just a little thicker. I would say give it a go! You never know until you try.
Nice work wish it came like your custom paint job❤
that would take away all the fun :D
Hello, I recently got the kit and want to follow along the video to achieve a similar result. Just one question, how do you attach the canoopy in place while painting the main body? I see you remove it afterwards, so is it blue-tac?
I used poster tac to fix the canopy in place and protect the cockpit before paint. After I was done painting the outside, I ended touching it up by hand. In retrospect, I would have used masking tape or masking fluid, and would have left the canopy on the side. However, if you're talking about installing the canopy in the end, I used Micro Kristal Klear. Happy Building!
Wish I'd seen this before building gwitch expansion set.. The situational nubmarks removal is useful asf
I'm kinda new to building gunpla but is there a difference between the expensive branded sand papers and some regular cheap sand papers found in any hardware store?
That's a hard question to answer, it depends on the brand you buy. I recommend the 3m wet/dry sandpaper which I have used before and that seemed to work pretty well
Still have no idea why you have so little views. You helped me so much as a beginner!
I appreciate the compliment. I'm glad it helped!
6:19 which olfa blade fits the tamiya holder?
Olfa multi-purpose art blades
Something seems off? its like all the joints too exposed!
Not sure what you're talking about? Everything is assembled correctly.
Can you please do a showcase of your build space and how you did it? I need to upgrade mine lol😊

I usually just use a Dspiae glass file after cutting off the nubs. Works pretty well every time. If there's still stress marks even when flat, 95% of the time rubbing it with my finger nail does the job.
true, siren does the job extremely well
Would a diamond file be ok to use?
@@r3za_ never tried a diamond file. What's the grit on it? If it's low, it might be too rough of a finish.
Hello there! I saw that you used water slide decals for this kit but the one I bought comes with regular sticker decals on a yellow sheet. Where did you get the water slide decals?
They're the official Good Smile Company waterslide decals for the kit. Unfortunately, they only go up for pre order and are limited. There are some third party options, but I haven't been able to get any. You can check the Good Smile Company website and they might be up for pre order for another run.
This kit looks amazing in G-3 colors.
thanks, definitely one of my favorite color combos
Respect. You did a very good job
Thank you, it was a lot of fun!
With this technique, i'm gonna finish my 15 gunpla quickly. Thanks ! (Do you have make a video on the markers ? 'cause i'm gonna try with some gold on the mg barbatos and i research good techniques for newbies)
You can use a hobby knife, or you can get a glass file for that buyback most of the time
You could just cut flush and then sand. i call it the "cut and sand method" that saves the pointless step of cutting the wide part for no reason at all. It's also good for nips.
For someone who is painting that would be the way to go, however, not everyone fully paints their kits and more often than not, like to use the bare plastic. Therefore its technically not pointless as taking that extra step helps reduce stress marks from my experience. It also doesnt take that much time to do. But to each their own. If that works for you, keep at it.
