      Hi Colleen! You’re so sweet, thank you for your kind words ♥️ The Marie patterns we mentioned are charted only (colorwork and cables). I also learned how to do cables written and it was a mindbender to switch to charted but SO worth it in the end. In comparison, doing colorwork with charts is really easy to learn. TH-cam is a wonderful resource and if you feel up for the challenge, I really think you could do it!!!

    Another episode that I can just totally indulge in, thank you! Jackie, for your green pullover, with the raglan increases not being even, I wonder if there were more stitches in the front to allow more room for the bust? Nancy of KnitSipHappy often shifts her sleeves to the back a bit, so there is more room in the front, because we don't have boobs in the back. Thank goodness, because then guys would be staring at us coming AND going! 😂 Carmen, your sweater/skirt set is amazing. That combination with the darker mohair, and the dark fuzz that it brings, gives the fabric such a gorgeous antique bronze look, and I love it. Thanks for experimenting and having the courage to try different colours. It's inspiring! 🥰

      Hi Marg! Isn’t Carmen’s gold/bronze the most incredible mohair moment??? As for the Puro, without giving away the pattern - you’re right and the designer does it in a really simple but ingenious way. Would love to check out Nancy, thanks for sharing her with us!

    A lot of really experience clothing designers that have become knitwear designers say that if a sweater fits in the shoulders then it looks like it fits. It can fit everywhere else but if the shoulders are off - the sweater is off.

    Love getting to sit and knit with you ladies! I’m currently working on the Embrace Octopus sweater, for the third time 🤦🏻‍♀️ but man the yokes on bottom up sweaters are just so cumbersome. At least it’s getting smaller every round and it looks great when it’s done. I might do the Wallin KAL, I do really like the Yell. But her sizing just isn’t big enough for me so I’d have to do math and her gauges are so very small that I think it’d take me multiple years lol

    Hello you two lovely women :) I like your podcast very much and btw it is never too long. A lot of informations and fun. All others are also nice but same same. So yours is special 😊 The only thing I have problems with as a german 'old girl', that sometimes I don't understand the yarn company or name of colour and the pattern/designer. Which yarn did you use for the nice blue yellow socks Carmen? The colours look amazing. You both knit so lovely things and this green blueish colour suits you both so well ❤

    I adore your podcast, but it's so heartbreaking to see you hyping up Moreka knits without any consideration of the fact that she's pretending to be Polish to avoid being associated with her country of origin, gifting free yarn left and right to be on every podcast imaginable and pretends like her country is not participating in the v1olence against my country. As much as I love your podcast, I don't think I will be able to continue watching if you are going to knit through all of her patterns without at least mentioning the nuances of this situation. I do believe that once you have a platform, you also have a responsibility to address the injustice that is happening in the world

      Oh Maryna, thank you for your comment and for sharing your thoughts on this situation! I actually didn’t know anything about Kate before she contacted me and this is the first I’m hearing about these issues you’re raising. For me, I would not want to punish an individual for things their government is doing as I don’t know what their actual feelings are, but I would like to know if she is making hurtful comments or acting in ways that show she doesn’t care about people in your country or agrees with the things her government is doing?

    • @gabijohn7027
      @gabijohn7027 7 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      Well responded! I searched the internet after the above comment and couldn’t find anything about the issues mentioned. I don’t think it’s your responsibility to actively “vet” every designer you mention, like etc. for their complete background. And I agree that an individual mustn’t be held accountable for the atrocities their government is committing (I know what I’m talking about having grown up in the collective guilt of post WW2 generations in Germany!). If the individual is actively and publicly endorsing, backing or supporting their government’s action that’s a very different ballgame… but until then?

    good morning, girls! a bit of podcast before I head to the pool, yes! Jackie's new cardigan reminds of my beloved Timepiece cardigans (2, likely a 3rd soon), which are not garter but have a similar knit-as-you-go collar/button band and possible advantage of being top-down, and are very speedy to make (Jackie, one of mine is in that same LMW black lopi that I sent you the extras of) -- highly recommended for a comfortable cozy basic. and Carmen's gold set! amazing! (will catch up with the rest after swimming...)

    • @lauraalicewatt
      @lauraalicewatt 21 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      back from swimming, and YES for small scarfs/shawls tied fairly snugly around neck! my absolute favorite thing. I have not made a Sophie (nor any other Petite Knits patterns, either), but my go-to travel knit and/or gift knit is the Groovy shawl, which I first learned about from an ancient Espace Tricot (Lisa and Melissa-era) podcast -- perfect one-skein project that makes a long fairly narrow shawlette of alternating stockinette and reverse stockinette, with a easy-decreases scalloped edge of sorts -- here in Iceland I am constantly wearing one, usually my alpaca/silk/cashmere blend one. now I feel the need to start another... except I am currently finally finishing a long-languishing WIP, which is Eri Shimizu's brilliantly-named "What you want is in your stash box," another small scarflette that I'm so excited to finish!

    Brooklyn Tweed Shelter is definitely on the thinner side of worsted weight. It's also woollen spun. I've seen it used in both DK and worsted patterns.

    • @thegrynne
      @thegrynne วันที่ผ่านมา

      Jackie, on sock knitting, you might try holding handdyed sock yarn double with a strand of mohair, to get a sport-to-DK weight. I am also a very loose knitter, which makes knitting fingering weight socks prohibitive (I would have to go down to 1.50mm or 1.75mm needles to get standard sock gauge/density), but thicker sock yarns don't normally come in hand dyed colourways, so adding mohair and knitting on bigger needles might be a solution. I live in a fairly warm climate (Sydney, AU) and Nutiden can easily feel scratchy when it gets warm and humid. I find my preferred gauge for Nutiden held double is 14 sts/10cm. The looser fabric means less prickles and I don't overheat.

    The Sophie shawl has a different increase rate! I loooove the Sophie scarf. I personally use a row counter to keep track of my rows, either like the little clickey kind or the row counter chains. If I use the row counter chain I just place it after the stitches that form the I-cord. Beautiful podcast as always ☺️

    Hi! As always, I love your podcast. I've gone back and started at the beginning episodes, so I have some to watch while waiting for new ones. I'm in for a Marie Wallin KAL! I have a Burra cowl kit waiting to be cast on, so this will be the perfect opportunity! I have a question for you both about Nutiden yarn. Do you have any tips about knitting with it? It's my first time knitting with unspun yarn. I want to use it to make Andrea Mowry"s Big Cozy Cardi. I swatched with it single stranded and my gauge was too big. I'm a little bit of a loose knitter, but not extreme. I went down to size 3s and it was still too big. I think I would have to go down to 1s or 0s (gasp!). So, I'm thinking I might go with 3s and knit a smaller size. Maybe I'm holding it too gently for fear of it coming apart? Any useful tips are greatly appreciated!

      @knittingagoodyarnpodcast5765 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Agh so sorry about the delay responding! First, this is going to be amazing in nutiden! In terms of the gauge issue, I bet you are being too careful with it, although it makes sense that you are! I think if you keep working with it, your hands will get used to it and you’ll prob find you can tighten it more than you realize!

    Always such fun to join you! When you're thinking about the knits you grad... what about multi sensory components? to what extent might your choices include colors, textures - visually as well as touch? I've notice these multi-sensory elements have been influencing me, and I'm picking up on some of those elements when you both talk about your knits... hmmm maybe it's just what I'm noticing... Yes! Great podcast! I want to make a Seaton. I have the book, yarn and I’m ready! 😂 I have always wanted to make the Orkney Cardi. And it’s still on my radar but I’m not ready….yet. I have never done my colours or had my style defined. But I gravitate to the colours that make me look more vibrant ( I think?) and style. lol. Well…comfort is verrry important. Basically, I wear jeans type pants and a tee shirt with a sweater or cardi on top and hand made wool socks, of course. My wardrobe goals are to have any knits in there to be made by me. I can’t commit to a make 9 because I always get derailed with new patterns and yarn popping up. Totally distracts me. So, I just run with it. My plans get ruined by me every time. 🤷‍♀️ oh, well not true because I decided to make a blanket for each of my kids for this past Christmas. And I did it. I decided in late July and stuck to it. 4! Blankets done and gifted. I feel like that is a different goal, though. Carry on, ladies! Carmen, I hope you kick that cold/flu/sickness completely and feel fabulous very soon! ❤

    Love you both! It's a joy to see you so excited about all your knits. I'd love to join the KAL, your color combination is extraordinary. Is it possible to get a list of the list of colors? It would be helpful to see swatches attached to a piece of paper. Jackie, would you be willing to share your measurements? It would help us short people see how items would fit us. I'm short and not sure such a wide sweater would work, really want to make to measurements of sweaters that fit me well. Would we be able to get feedback in the KAL?

    Hello there, Carmen and Jackie. I wish you a beautiful year full of love and knits! I'm so excited about the Marie Wallin KAL. I have been trying to knit Yell forever. I started last year (after buying the kit in 2019!), and I had to rip it because I was too much off gauge. I just started over again, and my idea is to try to knit some rounds every day and having it done by the end of the year. So the KAL is perfect - it will definitely give me the push to finish! Thank you for your positivity and the joy you spread.
