Pushing the limits of the Toyota Prado on Victorias tough 4wd tracks
Solo 4x4 In Strathbogie | Camping, Tracks + Almost Rolled - My Sketchiest Moment Solo Ever!
In this episode I head out for a solo overnight trip to the Strathbogie Ranges, exploring some of the vast amount of tracks on offer in what is some of Victoria's most underrated 4wding terrain.
On the hunt for some new tracks to take the boys later this year, I spent a bunch of time checking out different parts of the forest. With perfect weather and an awesome camp site it was an epic little overnighter.
Taking on the tracks I make a few bad line choices and end up on some bad angles, and come the closest to rolling the car that I ever have, requiring some cool thinking to self recover and get back to stable ground.
Pumped to get back up here with the boys again soon to hit some of the gnarly tracks and really push the limits of the cars on these awesome tracks.

We set out from Jamieson to the epic Victorian High Country in search of hard 4wding tracks over the Australia Day long weekend 2024. Hey mate nice drive. How’d you compare this with billy goat bluff ?
I've only ever done Billy Goats once and it was raining but the Prado just went up in a straight line, so I found it very easy. Barkley River needs a lot more thought about wheel placement even in the dry. So I would say this is a bit trickier

Thanks mate. It's the Torqit system for the Prado with a stainless airbox
What is the specific tyre size on the prados? e.g. 255/85r17? and what rim width and offset are you running?
Gold Prado 295/70/17, 9 inch rim with 0 offset Grey one is the same except 8.5 rim
Cool, did you have to remove/massage/cut anything to reduce/avoid scrubbing at the front?

can you do a little video on what exactly you did to fit 34 inch tyres?
Would you drive that with your tyres fully inflated?
Wouldn't have even made it this far along the track fully inflated
did you have to trim anything to run 34s?
Only remove the front mud flaps which is pretty standard even for 285's. I added aftermarket UCA's but they ran fine even with stock ones

@@JuanFiddy_Prado that's what I thought too. Do you think bushwraps or Rhinohide is better?
@@Megahexen2 For me Bushwrapz has been excellent. I'm putting out a video on this in the next few weeks, but overall I find it's quite tough, solves the issue of scratches from branches and even light scrapes on sticks and banks, while keeping the original aesthetic of the paint (in fact if you polish it before applying the Bushwrapz, it will look even better for much longer than factory paint). The Rhinohide is good because of how tough it is, but then it's a modest level of extra weight (close to a Jerry of water for the Prado) and in my opinion it doesn't look that nice. But I know people who use it and are happy so it's perhaps a personal preference thing
