vr is something super special and im glad ive been able to through unfortunately the lesser medium of quest 2, but im also disappointed in its decline, vrchat is unplayable, like absolutely unplayable, they tried to make it so textures on models go low quality unless youre far away and it broke and just happened if i didnt select the avatar and make certain it was something i wanted to see even though i was seeing it. and the community is horrible, i dont want to talk to the people of vrchat, chat; i once watched this kid walk up to a woman (she had a very busty, uncomfortabley unclothed avatar), and exclaim "im 10", she immediately says "i dont fucking care" and began to berate this small poor entirely innocent child. i was in an avatar world and a guy had another very sexual but this time fnaf avatar and kept walking up to the kids in the world and acted friendly sure, but was still very uncomfortable and odd that he chose to do this, when theres thousands of other avatars. and he tried to deny how weird it was when another guy mentioned how fucked it was that he was wearing a weird avatar and actively interacting with kids in it, playing it off even though he could easily be any avatar that was actually in the world but he chose to be freddy fazbear with the ass that could suffocate newborn sixtuplets. this is to add, alot of new games are usually ai slop and the like, it is demeaning to watch something i literally LITERALLY dreamed about trying, begin burning just once i get to interact with it. I could pass off the uncomfortable people if they werent everywhere, its either kids or pedophiles, this is one of vr's biggest titles ever and its this disgusting. and not to forget, this is the BEGINNER HEADSET, where youre supposed to try it out and see if its for you, and its THIS BAD. the valve index is at a choke hold because of the quest. people don't even respect quest users because of how much the quest wrecked it for the rest.

i think in the further im going to get a valve index or when the valve index 2 realse

Yes, the videos are year old, but I feel like posting this now. The Vive Pro 2 at the time of commenting is on sale for 800 bucks and has been on sale for 800 bucks for like two months. It's essentially a vive 2, just without the USB frunk and with some other weirdness. Also, your eye screen looks to be a delamination issue if I had to give my two cents without actually having the hardware to look at, which could be a result of you adding the funny face to your vibe, causing more heat.

I'm using the Quest 3 with Virtual Desktop. I think since I'm in an apartment, the inside out tracking works pretty well. The lenses and screens are similar to what I remember my Index being. If they make a wireless Index 2 with QC issues fixed I may look to that if the Quest 3 breaks.

watching this a year later cause I just impulse bought an index due to my quest link being entirely unplayable. It didn't have any issues until the quest 3 came out and planned obsolescence seems pretty likely. I even switched from amd to nvidia graphics cards in an attempt to fix the issue.

As someone who had owned both at some point in my life, using both as pcvr, which was my intent. The index for me is worth the approx 600 used.

I really want a PC VR headset, but its really difficult to justify 1000$ for a 5 year old tech, and i know if I did buy one they'd release the index 2 a week later

I really hate meta & Instagram.. not to mention, the specs of the quest is pretty insufferable overall. I didn't realize how bad the quest was until I started using it more.

I know this will never be seen, likely, but I wanted to add my two cents about quality control on materials and devices specifically the index; which shattered in my hands as I was adjusting the sizing wheel, it felt like a prank-prop-gag like, the thing went from a creak to SNAP and no more index for me. I liked it, but yeah, also had problems with the controllers breaking once prior, your valve index control stick, is going to fuck up, index owner. NEVER TWIST those things, they are the most delicate thumbsticks in the world; and back to my former point it felt like the index was fairly sturdy but having moved over to another popular headset while I wait on whatever's next, the index while great never felt as solid as the current offering. I really hope valve takes this into account, as I've lost : an index, index controllers, and a steam deck all to poor quality control, and I think that's kind of a telling ratio, three of three, i don't know what they'd put out to make a fourth happen.

the fact that it needs those sensors is the biggest turn off for me.

as some 1 who owns and has used both head sets i use the index a lot more because i prefer steam and i like the tracking more. i dont like the the quest near as much because of the controller and tracking.

I own a Reverb G2. Windows Mixed Reality is being shut down by the end of this year. The headset can’t run without WMR. I wish I bought an index.

if your looking for the absolute best of both worlds i highly recommend using a quest 3 and a good pc combination bc q3 i believe has mor pixels per eye and pancake lenses and i know that it hs a marginally better fov i use this setup alot bc i can take the q3 anywhere and if i want to play pc games i just hook it up to my pc and the q3 runs the games perfectly

Hi and thanks for the video - it was very informative - liked and subscribed I know this is going to sound like a really weird question but I don’t know who else to ask who owns an index so am wondering if you would be kind enough to answer - I bought an index really cheap off Facebook but at the moment my only graphics card has stopped working so I can’t immediately fully set it up and test it but I just want to make sure it at least partly works in the meantime to put my mind at rest . Problem is i just want to test it comes on and at least see the screen come on inside the headset - when I plug my other htc vive in to the hdmi of motherboard on my pc (i5 4690 z97 windows 10 pro ) straight away the pc desktop shows inside my vive even though I don’t have a graphics card or running it through steam but when I plug in my index it gets recognised as a camera device but there is no display inside the headset at all - should I be worried ? Is it because it is a display port connection or do I need a graphics card before it will display anything ? I did run steam vr but a message pops up telling me I need to extend the display which I did through windows but again nothing is showing inside the headset . If it should still display the desktop through the headset without the card then I’ll have to assume there is something wrong with the headset and I’ll send it back . I’d appreciate your answer . Index is still my main headset to this day. Got it a few months before this video released and I haven't used anything else since. Yeah these new headsets like the Q3 are apparently better, but I don't want to buy from Meta anymore. They are a bad corporation that couldn't care less about innovation if it doesn't make them the money. The thing I LOVE about the index is it's modability. This is THE developer's HMD with it's seamless support for Full Body Tracking, Open Source Tools, etc. With all the Meta shilling on yt nowadays you've earned a like and a sub. Amazing video that still holds up.

Just got an index at a crazy steal 2 weeks ago without knowing anything since the vive 1.0, this video was amazing to watch. Super high quality

Had a Quest 2 for roughly 2 years, but been itching to upgrade the whole time. The headset has never been comfortable for me, no matter what I've tried - it always puts pressure on my forehead. Its lenses also don't match my eyes, idk if I'm some fuckin troglodyte but I can only ever get it to line up with one of my eyes at a time so one is always about half blurry. I've finally ordered an Index, although used for $650, and I'm hoping it'll be everything I've wanted out of VR.

Dont buy index off alt sellers. I got scam by a Amazon seller and when the device broke. The warranty was outdated by 1 year!

oh shit it dropped 40 seconds ago, and i just subbed watching another video.

Rather just get a Quest 3 for half the price. Just bc index is $1000 dont make it better. Its outdated and overpriced. Quest 3 is far superior. The resolution alone is double. Quest3 has twice as many pixels as the Index. Don't forget pancake lens as well. Trust me pancake lens makes a huge difference. Way better than fresnel lens of the index. Not to mention you can literally get 4 Quest2 for the price of one index as well. And when it comes to games with the index ur missing out on quest exclusives such as Asgards Wrath 2. With a quest2/3 you arent missing out on any VR games thats on PC or native quest.
