Small Stream Fly Fishing For Trout
มุมมอง 5345 หลายเดือนก่อน
I had a few hrs to kill so I headed up the canyon to see if I could find some hungry brown trout. As I pulled up to the river i noticed some stoneflies and pmd's near the water. The water was crystal clear and cold. Summer is the best time to fish small streams for trout. Most of these fish I caught bolted for the downed trees and undercut banks. I had a hard time preventing them form heading f...
Fly Fishing Utah's High Uintas for Wild Trout
มุมมอง 685 หลายเดือนก่อน
The Uinta mountains in Utah offers some of the best fishing in the state. You won't catch big fish but you will catch lots of beautiful wild and native fish. Brook trout, cutthroat trout, brown trout and rainbow trout are abundant. It's one of the few areas one can catch a grand slam. It's a fun way to fly fish Utah's high Uintas for wild trout.
Fly Fishing for Cutthroat Trout in a Small Steam

What do three Utah fly fishing guides do on their day off? We go fishing and try to find waters that aren’t pressured. Hard to find these days. We managed to find a good stretch of river that held some nice cutthroat trout. Fortunately for us they were eating dry flies. It was fun to have friends along to help spot and net fish. These awesome cutthroats were eating big dry flies. There's nothin...
Fly Fishing Utah Small Stream I Bow and Arrow Cast
มุมมอง 2032 ปีที่แล้ว
Tim Johnson tucks a bow and arrow cast under some thick cover and is rewarded with a nice brown trout. It's a good cast to have when you need it. Trout live in some crazy places and at times are hard to cast to. When Tim comes into town we always love fly fishing utah small streams.
Spawning Brown Trout in Utah
มุมมอง 542 ปีที่แล้ว
Fall is the time of year when fish start to spawn. In this video you can see what a spawning bed looks like and how the fish behave. Please avoid fishing/wading on or around spawning beds. This video was filmed on Utah's Provo River, a blue ribbon fishery.
Evening Hatch on a Western River
มุมมอง 762 ปีที่แล้ว
On our way home from a good day of fishing we stopped by to see if we could catch the evening hatch on one of our favorite rivers. As soon as we got there we spotted a fish feeding on the bank. It only took a few casts to get him to slide over and sip a size 16 Klinkhammer.
Fly Fishing Selective Trout
มุมมอง 1142 ปีที่แล้ว
Pete is working this likely looking spot very slowly making sure he covers every inch of water. Sometime anglers move too fast upstream after just a few casts with no fish. Sometimes the fly needs to drift right in front of the fish in order for them to eat. Taking your time can pay off.
Utah Fly Fishing I Small Stream Strategies

Tim Johnson and Spencer Higa spot and stalk browns on a small stream in Utah. The hatch was thick and the fish were feeding on adult mayflies as well as nymphs. I spotted a fish feeding upstream on little nymphs. Tim worked his way up to me and I let him know where the fish was. Tim made one cast and the fish chased it downstream to eat it. The fish got underneath a log jam but Tim applied enou...

Small Stream Fly Fishing I Fly Refusal
มุมมอง 2554 ปีที่แล้ว
While fishing a small stream we had a fish refuse our nymph (:57) Just like a dry fly, if a fish refuses a fly it means something didn't look natural. Could be the drift or the fly. I changed my nymph after the first refusal and gave the run a few minutes to rest. Always a good idea on any body of water. Small stream fly fishing at its finest. Rod: Orvis H2 8' 4" 3wt Reel: Orvis Battenkill LA I...
Fly Fishing Utah I Tiger Trout
มุมมอง 1.1K4 ปีที่แล้ว
Day trip to one of our favorite lakes targeting tiger trout. The damsel flies were hatching and the fish were active. We had to walk the shoreline to find fish but once we found them you had a great chance of them taking your fly. We also caught some Colorado River Cutthroat trout. Fly fishing in Utah can be amazing!
Fly Fishing Utah I Fishing Pocket Water for Trout
มุมมอง 6294 ปีที่แล้ว
We headed out to one of our favorite streams in search of brown trout and rainbow trout in pocket water and deep pools. We hiked upstream and watched to see what bugs were hatching. We didn't see much so we opted for attracters with droppers. Dry fly fishing on this river can be excellent. Jake is a master of covering water on these small streams. He can put a fly in every likely looking piece ...

Change Of Pace I In Search of Bull Trout
Hy Jory. Two questions about your wood planning form. The total length of yours ( I have 2 pieces of hard wood 52 in, should be enough) ?. Also, about the V groove rough section.!.. The final diameter of the but and also tip section? I m starting my rod project ! Thank's. Roger D, from Canada.
Thank you for sharing
I know that guy!
just astounding how such a small creek makes habit for them decent sized trout :P
Can’t believe the size of the fish in that little stream. You earned every one
Such a fun little stream
Great video mate
Thanks 👍
The river coming out of Moon lake is called Lake Fork. Is this the same river?
The feeling of suspense that comes when sight fishing dries is amazing. Super cool that you got to share the moment with some friends!
Nice catch!
Do you recall the name of the book that you started with?
Nice video, so cool to see the hit!
Thanks! Glad you liked it.
“3 times he refuses you” 😂 I’ve been there before. Good perseverance and great video gentlemen
This fly gets no shine but it gets eaten so positively and aggressively as food- better than a mop fly or a zonker or a barr's cranefly.
Nice pattern!
Awesome video. Fantastic rods
Awesome video mate!
Looks like a fun day Spencer!
Fantastic cutty
Tricky.
Nice brown. Good to see you posting again
More to come!
What weight of leader I should say

A wooden planing form... now that’s surprising. I thought steel was mandatory, lol. Excellent interview, thanks!
Fellow Utah resident here and just finding this marvelous craftsmans. I would LOVE to get a rod off of him if possible. Or perhaps just fish with him if he ever goes. Either way, this is fantastic! I love seeing beautiful creations coming out of this great state!
Hi Dylan! Jory makes amazing bamboo rods. They’re fun to fish with too. 🙌
@@sosflyfishing No doubt!
Amazing!

Hello from Utah County! Would love to check out bamboo rods more. Subbed!
Thanks man! Bamboo rods are a lot of fun to fish.
@@sosflyfishing what would be a good starter bamboo rod price? I currently love fishing my 3wt 7’ Fenwick Aeros. Also, do they mostly come in 2 pieces or can they do 4pc as well?
Thanks for putting this video out. I was given a bamboo flyrod a few yrs ago that someone had made. I took it on the Feather River in the spring n hooked up with a small spring run steelhead. It's was a wonderful experience experience! I wish I'd been more involved years ago when I met Press Powell from Powell flyshop in Chico CA. (Nore: check the credits on a river runs thru it)I did get to try a prototype n that got my interest in bamboo. Now that opportunity has passed with his passing so I enjoyed ur video very much. Thank you again! God Bless n Fish on!
that was amazing. I often fish the small creeks around Utah and man casting in between branches, under trees, and through bushes....that was tight.
Wow the pattern on the tiger trout is amazing. I caught a hybrid one up in the mountains last year and confused me. just subbed! would love to know some of these lakes!
Awesome edit, brother! We need to get our fish on again soon!
Yes we do
Those kinds of spots are tricky but fun since most anglers don't give them a try (too many sticks!)
Great stretch of water and good fishing, thanks for the video and greetings from New Zealand in Down under, Tony.
