Great interview Howard, one of the best I've seen with Billy Joel. Although you are both wrong. 5th Falling of the Rain 4th State of Grace 3rd. Matter of Trust 2nd Your my Home 1st Allentown. Great story I went to Billy's Portland show and had tickets to his Seattle show. No one wanted to go (nose bleed seats). Got one of my friends to go. We get there early. A radio station was doing a promo for him. With a sing a long karaoke theme I won it and we got front row tickets. Before that we went back stage before the band was there and sat in his leather chair played his piano and drank a beer. Good times! Fan for life!

Billy Joel is just a legend what a man what a musical genius. In this interview he talks about sadness, what gave me a just a smidge of sadness is I went to MSG to see him I also went to cardiff the principality stadium to see him. On both occasions he didn't sing and so it goes, i do get it that he has such a catalogue of top top songs and he cant sing them all. But for me he should sing and so it goes in every concert because for me its his greatest masterpiece

David Brown Was Awesome!!!!

One of my favorite albums from my growing up years is Glass Houses. Another that is a favorite of all time, in my personal top ten, is An Innocent Man. My grandmother was born in 1917 and couldn’t carry a tune in a bucket. Yet, the first time she heard Uptown Girl, she started to dance. Every time after that, she danced and sang along, poorly, but with great zeal. Every time I hear Uptown Girl, I instantly see my grandmother in her duster, singing and dancing. Thank you for that lovely memory, Billy. ❤

Of all the people in my musical life, I'd like to meet Billy Joel the most. I play and sing many of his songs at my gigs and he is the reason I play harmonica 😁. You're the real deal Billy and I have admiration and mad respect for you and what you/ve done in your career. This is a great interview. Thank You Howard Stern!

Considering he had written this as suicide note, this song has special bookmark in his life. Of all the great songs he has written, to me, three seem to mark life changing moments. Tomorrow is Today, Famous Last Words, and Turn the Lights Back On.
