iRobot Roomba S9 - Weekly maintenance & cleaning instructions
This is a Quick how-to on how to maintain the Roomba S9.
I’ve been running this robot in my Home for about 1 year now (I bought it 2nd hand - barely used though).
It is a major upgrade from the older 800-series!
The new S9 has intelligent mapping, and navigates much better around your home, due to the intelligent navigation system.
Subsequently it also cleans our house much faster than the older model.
Thanks for watching! Comments and questions are always welcome 🤗

How to fix a noisy robotic lawn mower (Yard Force x50i)
มุมมอง 1.2K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Have you (also) noticed that your robotic lawn mower has started to rattle or become noisy? I have a Yard Force X50i (fix also applies to x60i, x80i and x100i) that has been running for one season. So far I have not been very impressed with the quality of the mower (and the App is pretty useless), so it came as no surprise when it suddenly started to rattle when mowing longer grass. However, it...
How to fix the red flashing empty bin symbol on the iRobot Roomba
มุมมอง 38K3 ปีที่แล้ว
This video demonstrates how to get rid of that annoying flashing “empty bin” symbol on the iRobot Roomba 600, 700 and 800 and 900 series (mine is the 880). The bin has been emptied but the symbol is still flashing! What to do? iCanDoDad show you how it’s done! :-)
iRobot Roomba 800-series weekly maintenance & cleaning instructions
มุมมอง 11K3 ปีที่แล้ว
This is a quick how-to on how to maintain the Roomba 800-series. My machine is now more than 5 years old, so it has an annoying quirk (the empty bin signal always blink, even if the bin is empty). I’m gonna try to figure out how to fix that - cause at iCanDoDad we fix sh when it breaks - we don’t just chug it away. Thanks for watching!
The rollers last much longer than six to twelve months. Just depends how much of a slob you are with your house. I've had my S9 since 2020 and my rollers still look new. But I also keep my house clean and I clean my rollers on a bi-weekly basis.
I’m guessing you don’t have many long-haired creatures in your house then ;-)
@@icandodad007 I don’t have any. I’m not an animal person. lol
Worked like a charm
That roomba looks like it's been through hell.
Nope! Just a regular old trusty Roomba cleaning a regular old house. It gets a little worn down over time 😜
So I got mine a neighbor she didn't want it cause it was blinking
Wow good vid
This video really help me out!
I have a iRobot Roomba 800 series like year is and I’ve found out the red trashcan if it keeps coming on take the trash bin out and you will see two sensors in the back of the room but you have a day clean those and I said there’s a sensor underneath that extractor wheels that sucks in hair and dust.
Yeah - I did a follow up video on this video, on how to clean the sensors too 👍🏻 “How to fix the red flashing empty bin symbol on the iRobot Roomba” th-cam.com/video/TDrqQTEpKkg/w-d-xo.html
@@icandodad007 Hi you can also take off the back plate of your Roomba and in their you will see hair in your videos you have pets and the daughter because I had to take of the back plates on mine to de-clog it of hair and it De-clogging it will help the battery last longer and if you’re having battery trouble The roomba Will automatically initiate a refresh charge which will charge the battery for 16 hours you can manually initiate a refresh charge yourself By taking the battery out of the Roomba And press the clean button on the top of the Roomba for 5 -15 seconds or Press and hold the button till you see reset and then let it go then you will hear a sound.
Yes I know :-) I do the “deep clean” once per year or so 👍🏻
You are right about the rollers. I hate the loudness when they are new. Usually takes two weeks before they wear down a little. The issues is if they are worn too much they don't agitate carpet well.
This is a very good point. We have mainly hard wood and tile floors, so the old roller seems to work fine. I’m determined to try and find a way to wear down the new roller to avoid having to run it in extra loud mode for two weeks 😆 Thanks for chiming in though 👊🏻
@@icandodad007 if you have that loud noise the roomba is damaged, the roller module might be bend. So I would recommend to ask roomba to send you a replacement module, if you still have the warranty
Thanks, but they’ve worn in now after a few weeks. Dont think anything was damaged though 🤔
@@icandodad007 I found that my long "haired" carpet (with like long fibres), i think you know what I mean, damaged the rollers badly, not only that, but the wheels began to wear also quite fast. After replacing it the rollers still sounded bad in the beginning, now they are better, only when transitioning from carpet to hard floor I get a loud sound.
I use a v8 Dyson animal edger vacuum to clean in the bin and surface of the filter after every house run. That works great for keeping it looking brand new in the dust bin and stops the cleaning head from breaking. I tried water and it was sticky and messy to clean. A portable vacuum edger knocks out the roomba bin cleaning in seconds and extends the cleaning head life by years. That much dust in there will stress and break the cleaning head.
I used alcohol to clean those sensors after dusting didn’t work. And on the red lens sensors outside on the body. Not sure which one cleared that basket sensor
Thank you!
Thank you so much I couldn’t figure that out for nothing. The sensor inside the catch bin. Thank you again

Glad it helped out, dude 👌🏻
Thank you 🙏🏼
You’re very welcome, Marlaina 🤓
You’re welcome I have a roomba 800 series and they had told him the sensors that you have to clean to fix the red trashcan light I have a Roomba 800 series.
This really helped.I thought it was done with my roomba. Thanks, hope your roomba will work many years
Hi Alex! I’m glad it helped you out. I have opted for an upgrade to the S9. So far I’m really liking it, but it also has some quirks too ofc 😆
