It sure was a zoo.:-) What we didn’t come right out and say in the video was how unfriendly and unhelpful the folks at the Moncton Flying School were. All across Canada and the USA aviation folks always help each other out. In Moncton, however, it was almost hostile. Very strange. I’m glad it wasn’t just us.

Janine spoke with a Boeing pilot, and he said that the 1-hour we added for "airport time" wasn't long enough. Should have been 90 minutes. So, according to him, we won by almost an hour! :-)

It was beautiful. The intense storms on the 2nd day were … well … not so nice!

Glad you enjoyed it. Congrats on starting the PPL. Very cool!

I think you are supposed to stand still near the edge of the pool with your hand on the deck. It can then climb up your leg, over your shoulder and out via your arm.

At Qualicum we usually get our taxi from the airport in about 20 minutes … because it’s earlier in the day. Coming back from the beach - later in the afternoon - is usually 40 minutes to an hour. We’ve had similar delays in Seachelt and other communities around BC. These smaller communities are having trouble staffing their taxi services and are unwilling to allow Uber or Lyft in to take some of the load … so long delays are pretty common.

Vancouver is certainly one of the most beautiful cities in the world. :-)

If you and Bob are ever in Vancouver again, we will go.

I'm very happy to say that such turbulence is very rare. This once, in 40 years of flying, seems like enough. 🙂

I'm proud to say I remained "just" this side of screaming like a little girl during the aerobatic portions of that flight.

I'm sorry we missed you at Lethbridge. Although, I suppose it was better for us to be grounded in Thunder Bay and miss all that fun in Lethbridge.

Indeed. We have both decided that Prairie Folk are the best. Present company included, of course. :-)

People sure treated us well in Winnipeg (and Brandon - everywhere in Manitoba, really). We're about 3 days behind on the videos. LOTS has happened in Manitoba and beyond. Coming soon. :-)

It looks like the "bad luck" in Thunder Bay might have actually been "good luck" in disguise - as it helped us avoid golf-ball hail.

Amazingly, we made it back in time to go to work - thanks to the Canada Day holiday buying us one extra day.

Thanks Karen. It was fun how excited Janine was to have spotted those whales. I think of you often on this trip - because it would also be fun watching how much fun YOU would be having. Janine says: “Yes, that wave was for you”.

I'm kind of shocked, actually, by how close to "plan" it's gone so far.

As I remember you saying once: “Little airplanes rarely go where you point them”. :-). We are now in North Dakota which was never part of the plan.

I remember amazing thunderstorms in Drumheller a few summers back. Truly spectacular!

From the ground, Swift Current wasn’t really that flat. it reminded us very much of the rolling hills of England.

As soon as we get back, you’re up. :-)

Janine is planning to bring back books from the conference. So 100 pounds for that, 20 for the weight I’ll gain eating on the rode for 30 days, and 80 left over for shoes. :-)
