Video Games & Time
The idea for this video has been kicking around in my head for a bit so I decided to put off reviews for a month to try and make a proper video essay. One that hopefully doesn't waste the viewers time by reiterating the same points over and over. Don't expect it to be a regular thing. Maybe I'll do another of these when an idea strikes me. This was partially maddening to make as I didn't have my regular formula to fall back on and I kinda just threw things together until I was mostly satisfied. I'll probably hate it in 2 months like I do everything I make.

You Will Die Here Tonight Review
มุมมอง 426หลายเดือนก่อน
You Will Die Here Tonight is a fantastic indie horror game that combines Resident Evil and House of the Dead. In both gameplay and aesthetics. A concept that shouldn't work, and yet does flawlessly. It has a fantastic story and I suggest not spoiling yourself with my video. It hits much harder when going in blind. Regardless this is one that I recommend wholeheartedly. Make sure to leave a revi...
J-Files: Jurassic Park Operation Genesis Review
มุมมอง 3873 หลายเดือนก่อน
Welcome to Jurassic Park! More specifically Jurassic Park Operation Genesis, a park building simulator from the early 2000s that looks the part. But it put Zoo Tycoon to shame back in its day. Jurassic Park Operation Genesis is quite the treat and wouldn't be replicated until Jurassic World Evolution many years later. So the question on all our minds is, how has JPOG managed to hold up over the...
Slave Zero X Review
มุมมอง 5624 หลายเดือนก่อน
I don't think I have ever come across a game that is as infuriating or as rad as Slave Zero X. A 2.5D beat 'em up that looks like it dropped out of a portal from 1998. Not only that but the gameplay is an unholy alliance of fighting games and devil may cry. I’m still not sure which dark god to praise. This one has been haunting me for some time now, but I'm glad its behind me. A great game, but...
J-Files: Cold Fear Review
มุมมอง 2995 หลายเดือนก่อน
Cold Fear is a game that superficially ticks a lot of boxes for me. It's Resident Evil on a boat before Resident Evil on a boat. But there’s also Russians to shoot, a damsel in distress, and stormy seas. Not to mention plenty of mechanics that have extremely niche use cases. All wrapped up in a biological threat originating from the deep. This one’s gonna be a hell of a ride. It also took me lo...

Stay tuned for more garbage.
Crow Country Review

To pull back the curtain a bit, I was given an early review code for Crow Country and I leapt at the chance to make this review. So take what i say with a grain of salt because I didn't pay money for Crow Country. Back to kayfabe Do you enjoy classic survival horror games? Choo Choo Survivor Review
มุมมอง 3037 หลายเดือนก่อน
Choo Choo Survivor is yet another Bullet Heaven game following in the footsteps of Vampire Survivors. It has the unique gimmick where you can only travel along the x-axis trying to reach the finish line before time runs out. I found it to be a fun little game to turn my brain off and play with a handful of caveats. Choo Choo Survivor: store.steampowered.com/app/2336200/Choo_Choo_Survivor/ Curat...
J-Files: Impossible Creatures Review
มุมมอง 4.5K7 หลายเดือนก่อน
After many years of hearing about it, I finally decided to take on Impossible Creatures. The second game by Relic Entertainment, Impossible Creatures was released 2003 so its proper old now. But at the same time there has never quite been a game like it. One that allows you to combine animals and send the resulting creatures into battle. A concept that would have blown me away as a child and st...

SUPER! HOT! SUPER! HOT! SUPER! HOT! Now that I have your attention, SUPERHOT is a game where time moves only when you move. Speed is now a liability instead of an asset. J-Files: Alan Wake Review

Well that took long enough. This Alan Wake Review has been on my mind for months so I'm glad that it is finally over. For now. Alan Wake is a third person action horror game from the insane Finns over at Remedy Entertainment. Among the best of its era and with the second game here I felt it would only be appropriate to cover the game that began the Remedy-verse. So let us dive into the longest ...

Thanks for this
Defcon fight for new york? thats not the title?
You know... before the live service craze companies were doing the same thing with MMOs back in the early 2000s, and just like you said ppl don't have the time to play every game that comes out. Companies just like then are out of touch with their customers now.
This video wasted my time damn
Ok. I am a 48 year old gamer with 3 kids, and 3 grandkids. Gaming is my passion and has been since the 2600 i got for Christmas. What i have started doing is cheating on story driven games. Not hardcore cheating, but cheating enough so that the game can’t waste my time.
Soon as I hear "Im not a bigot" I'm out this dudes lame
I feel bad about not using my free time getting closer to beating and uninstalling a game. But I also play literal time sinks with no ending.
I have personally outright stopped buying microtransactions in games since I turned 15, because I have actually become smart enough to realize that the small amount of dopamine hit and getting rid of fomo (fear of missing out) is not worth it, when sometimes skins can cost up to 20 dollars nowadays and battlepasses and so forth I can never justify putting that money into that I would way rather put it into a new game or so, and I am someone who has never been able to put in thousands of hours into a single game I just get bored enough eventually, their are some exceptions to some games that I come back to every once in a while like minecraft and cod games and binding of isaac, but outside of that I am always seeking something new to play and at this point I have probably played and finished over 1500 games, tho when I pick games and see that they take way too long to play it is usually harder for me to start playing that game i.e. cyberpunk 2077 (have started playing this but it is always hard for me to pick up), assasins creed valhalla, witcher 3 (man I wanna play this it just seems so big) and other games that I have either wanted to play or given a shot but due to length of the actual game I refuse to until I eventually usually cave in P.S. great video mate I loved it you deserve a sub from me
WHEN I WAS A YOUNG BOY
The concept of open-world games with massive ambitions that push the boundaries of the gaming medium makes sense and undoubtedly requires a lot of time to develop. I find it fascinating to explore and travel through worlds that feel like stepping into an entirely new reality. However, this doesn’t justify a 'quantity over quality' approach, nor the inclusion of uninteresting filler content in these games. Unfortunately, we haven’t yet reached the level of detail where every location feels special and unique, every NPC has a distinct personality and background, and every quest offers an engaging story with varied mechanics and scenarios. I don’t agree with your conclusion-I don’t think the gaming market will collapse as it did with Atari, especially now that artificial intelligence can assist developers or even be integrated into games themselves. That said, I do agree that significant changes are on the horizon.
I knew this video was a waste of time as soon as you said bigot
I really dislike how pointlessly time consuming some open world games are
what do you care?
@@echeneis2256 I'm not exactly getting what you're trying to say here
@@Barbari0 well I'm just asking what's the big deal with people such as your self complaining about time, like you have something better to do. Then all these people say its ADDICTION which is the stupidest thing and BE YOUR BEST SELF. Like what is it that you have to waste anyway? You cant take anything with you when you leave this world so who cares? Why do people such as your selves feel this way about video games wasting time?
@echeneis2256 for me it's not that deep. As it was mentioned in the video, there are way more games than you can ever play, and I want to be able to play more good games. The fact that a game is pointlessly time consuming doesn't automatically make it bad, but at least for me, it makes the game less enjoyable overall.
Okay
Shocked to see the views and subs, extremely well made video ❤
Banana emoji -> 🥕
I also don't like very long games anymore and don't even get me started on open world shit
I thought this was going to be about time moving on and death. I was kinda wrong, kinda . Getting older, I lack a lot of gaming time, so I try to squeeze it in early for an hour on weekends. With a kid it's tough.
✨Engagement✨
That's a great video mate. I found myself dumping thousands of hours into some online games (War Thunder, TESO) to the point that I was no longer aware of the industry. Well, I didn't have a console or a good PC to play the new games everyone is talking about like RDR2 of God of War. It was frustrating as I could conversation with my friends all feeling out of the overall loop. But 2 years ago I decided "fuck it" and just started playing all of the games that accumulated in the steam that I've never played. So now I'm catching up with a lot of 2007-2015 games but I don't care about enjoying it. Not to mention that I don't have to worry about my laptop specs, as it can easily handle these games. GTA4, Fallout 3 Witcher 1-2, Homefront, etc. a large variety of games. But speaking of a matter of time, I would like to say that you are right, sometimes open-world games exist just for the sake of the open world. I wasted too many hours in GTA4 because I was promised that the world would be rich and engaging. To be honest I was disappointed. And when I was playing Fallout 3 I didn't deviate much from the main quest and the DLCs, and It worked. I enjoyed the game before I got bored. Spent 35 hours against 90 that is said by "howlingtobeat". And you also made an excellent example of AC Mirage. Assassin's Creed is one of my favorite series, but after Unity, I didn't play any of the new games, because of my aforementioned laptop, and also because I felt how the games became larger and larger, while I was finishing school, entering university, and so on. So with Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla, I felt that I'd never catch up. But when the Mirage came out, I felt like it was really the first game I'd like to try. It was very similar to the game that hooked me up with AC - AC1.
I started doing something similar with my own backlog on Steam. I'm currently trying to play at least 1 new (to me at least) game a week for 45 minutes to an hour. This week was the original Far Cry, which sadly didn't grab me in the way I expected, seeing as it's like a prototype for Crysis.
@@DopedBones to be fair the first far cry is comically horrible to play by modern standards. fuck those mutant monkey enemies man.
Colonel Grimm is the "general's" name.
If you don't think about the glory of Rome, are you even a man?
Nah, this is exactly why the game is fun. It really feels like you're traversing a jungle or cave. It's super video gamey and that's great.
Just picked this game up and loving it. I love 2d beatemups that kinda play like fighting games. The soundtrack is fire too. Def needs some polishing and QOL updates (runnin out of items in the training mode is crazy) but it has a great foundation. Combat is addicting
Awesome video ! Thanks
Man, I wish all the cool games like this and Astlibra were on PlayStation. At least now I know this game exists though!
Kidnap"
Hey mate, just came across this review and want to say it's excellent. Went back and watched your Alan Wake review and that was great as well. Your stuff is really well researched and presented. I hope you keep it up, you deserve a bigger audience.
Thanks! I don't really sweat the audience stuff, though. I'm just having fun posting my little reviews to the internet
You can also use the arrow keys to move your camera in the game, and I think you can hold the right mouse button down to scroll the screen much faster, too. Been a fat minute since I've played this. I do like AMRTS but for me the pathfinding is probably it's biggest issue. A lot of the issues of 3DO and Army Men games as a whole is that many of them are a bit clunky and needed more development time to iron out the kinks. Much like the plastic soldiers these games were based around, they were made rather cheaply and pumped out really quick.
Just found your channel, great review of the game! Cant wait to see more from you
I played this game when it first came out. I didn't know until I played it recently that you can hold onto banisters and fencing with triangle, to steady yourself and increase your aim.
I'm sad I can't get this to work on linux :c
ya should do a review on warlord awaji demo
10/10
There's also an important point about those formations, they are a MASSIVE benefit for performance, as game considers them more like an single unit than an mob of individual units Back in 2006 this was a big deal, that enabled the game to have decent sized battles for it's day
The AI for Dino’s and guests in this game rly make the AI in the evolution games feel lacking
It worked on my ps5 controller right off the bat on my steam deck the only thing I can’t seem to do is grab ahold of ledges
Why they killed the game? :( Was much fun playing multiplayer back in the days
This game was ok, but definitely the marketing of it was SO bad, there was barely any ads of it and especially, the name was so bad, so unnecessarily long and not catchy, and why would you partner with Midway? in that time period that was a terrible choice. Honestly this game could’ve been so much more.
Para los que no les aparezca en users, si están en w11 puede estar en la carpeta one dirve.
Snowboard supercross 3? I though it meant super snowboarding eXtreme
Was playing this game in school... Hope they would look back and say, they need IC2
I've been playing this on a arcade/fight stick, i use the Victrix Pro FS and have found it easier than playing on a controller.
I didn't think to try this on an arcade stick. I need to try that when I get the chance. The Mayflash F300 that's been collecting dust in my closet for the last few years may see the light of day once more.
My name is Ivan, i like you
Gleek Me Please!
This game introduced me to my growing obsession for classical-era naval combat in videogames and made me OBSESSED about it! It's why I was later gleeful about the newer Assassin's Creed games having ship travel/combat! A quick edit: since we're on the subject, have you ever heard of "Alexander: The Heroes Hour"? It's an rpg game basically and you already guessed it, it's another bastardized retelling of Alexander's conquests 😅 but it was pretty fun, you should give it a look
This and Gladius need to come back from the dead. Subscribed my good sir.
Hello I am from Ukraine and this game is from my childhood.Thank you for the game files .Also wanted to ask how can I play online with someone or how can I change the color of the team with bots . Or how to take control of the ai ?
Hey glad I could provide awareness. It was a core part of my own childhood and I'm glad to share that with the world. To answer your questions: Multiplayer does not work at the moment. It relied on a central server that no longer exits, but various people have been trying to get it running again. Team colors are assigned to slots and I'm pretty sure cannot be changed. I have no idea about how to control the AI. There is probably a console command that would allow it, but I do not have the slightest idea what it could be.
@@DopedBones I wish I could have played with a different color. Thanks for the answer.🤗👍
Free in the USAF... I am pretty sure i paid money for my copy... Wonder if it was after.
Anyone else think the future tank looks like the mammoth tank from Command & Conquer 3?
Didn't notice it until now but you are right. It looks like they either modified the model or were HEAVILY inspired by the Mammoth.
@@DopedBones I really like your videos. Could review Warwind and Warwind II?
@@hughmongus6191 I'll add them to the list!
Red Alert 2 has the same control scheme, it's simply a dated outlook for RTS.
