I love this drill, know that it is in boxing, krav maga & others as well, but i can't detect it in karate precisely
We have the sequences in our Karate katas
Speaking of equipment, how much did that wing chin dummy cost? I’m in the market and looking for a good quality mook jong but not over budget.
Hey brother, thanks for reaching out...I bought mine back in the 90's man...it costed me about 800 cad. They are expensive now....look online, google "water based mook jong" or "water based wing chun dummy" hope this helps.
@@KarateUnity thank you for your fast response, seems prices haven’t changed much, lol
@@zachariahtaylor7811 you might also want to look at Facebook marketplace, sometimes people get rid of their equipment and you can get good deals One of my coaches found my same dummy for $350 and it was great condition on Facebook marketplace
Great video!
@@GalinPanchev thanks brother. I appreciate that!
That ground work looks just like Buaya in Silat and in Filipino MA Dumog. Beautiful and practical

@KarateUnity nah they have different variations of that. Boxing has their fists close to their face while leaning away from the center line. while choy li fut has more of a traditional counter to it.

Awesome interview Chris, fantastic to listen to a true Canadian Karate Legend Shihan Borkowski. I still have his Kata book from back in the day which helped me immensely to sharpen my classical skills. OSSU! Chris if you come to BC please let me know as i would love to participate as a student in your seminar.

Great to see you, Hanshi! Thank you for a fantastic interview, Chris!
Glad you enjoyed it! My pleasure
I got to begin training with Burton a few years ago and even in the short time I worked with him (pre-pandemic) I learned so much! Fantastic instructor with an absolute wealth of knowledge and understanding. Look forward to training with him again (hopefully soon) :)
@@thisisbs808 you are definitely lucky! I plan to take a seminar with him one day. I am from Toronto.

I trained karate for 11 years and we did old school Khon forms and to this day I’m happy I trained under my instructor. He comes for the 70/80s era. I’ve learned so much of what martial arts is from education history, self defense fand he introduced me to akido jujitsu and kunfu. It was a very challenging experience , and expiring

I really appreciate the focus on how kata can be adapted for self-defense. The way you broke down the flow drill made it easy to understand its practical applications. Great job on showing how different arts can come together!

American karate in Canada dìsplaying Korean TaeKwon Do badges.....moving on to toilet boxing/free style? Interesting....
Thank you for your feedback and for the channel traffic boost! Perhaps there was an oversight on your part....This was filmed in America in a Korean based school, hence the Korean badges. Secondly, is there anyway you can share some links to your content...always willing to learn and improve.
@@KarateUnity intend was not to be sarcastic and I am not against " cross training" between styles - however everything is all.over the place lately and it is difficult.to.get quality new input. It may help if ypu give a short background why there are 3x different "arts" involved here and that will prevent the query that may be considered sarcastic. I have for instance seen a demonstration of point fighting kumite techniques by a black belt - wearing boxing gloves the size of soccer balls - the combonations shown we started to train at blue belt.level. the "demonstrator" did all slomo with a kick or two below knee level.
Great drill!
