Best (not so) Cozy Autumn Reads
It’s the time of year where the air gets cooler and dryer, the white girls get their pumpkin spice latte and the goths get their spooky season. It’s also a time for cozy reads... or at least reads... it’s all about vibes

    Haha, gawd the whole left or right pierced ear debate. My younger brother got one of his ears pierced and would go off about choosing the correct ear or people would think, "You're gay!" I don't remember which was the "gay" ear and which was the "straight" ear according to him. Congrats on three, probably closer to four if not four now, years transitioning!

    Ah, yes, autumn here... where it's 90 degrees Fahrenheit until November.😂 If you liked Childhood's End, First and Last Men by Olaf Stapledon comes to mind. It's more of a 'cyclical' book than a strictly autumnal book, but it has that same feeling of foreboding loss. It's an interbellum SF classic, so it gets its near future hilariously wrong, but it feels overall poignant. It's in the public domain (in some places?).

      @@CammyAtHomeActual You did mention that in the vid. It's incredible how we have access to SO MUCH media now, but at the same time, a majority of the media from the past remains inaccessible or lost. Streaming has been a huge cause of that...feels like we can access everything, but meanwhile that tsunami of content drowns a lot of media. Will be very interesting 50 years from now to review how much media has been genuinely lost.

    I've never felt comfortable in my body, ever since I was 9 I have wanted to be a girl, but growing up in a christian fascist household I never was able to be myself. Now I'm married to a sweet woman, but I really want to come out and transition 😢. I know my wife would accept me and still love me, how long can you still keep male features before someone starts suspecting you are transitioning into a woman? And should I take testosterone blockers first before estrogen? I'm 26 years old, is it too late for me?

      That's so awesome and I'm so happy for you! My only advice here is tell your significant other you are thinking about this. • @ExogeniVI
      @ExogeniVI 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@CammyAtHomeActualI think she'll support me... I just wrote this actually and posted it on Reddit. I'd like to hear your thoughts. Let me start out with saying that I'm early, very early in my transition right now. I have been struggling with gender dysmorphia ever since I was 9 years old. I remember looking down at myself and wishing and pretending I was a woman, I have never felt comfortable in my own body, but I've had to hide myself from my ultra conservative family for years and years out of fear of rejection. But now? I don't care anymore.. I'm getting old, I feel like I have lost so much already, it wasn't until I was able to afford to get my own apartment three years ago that I was finally able to get away from years and years of indoctrination and now that I live far away from my family with my pretty progressive wife, I feel like I can really be myself now and it makes me HAPPY and giddy on the inside! It's like.. I have NEEDED this for so long you know? Right now I'm just focusing on growing my hair out to at least shoulder length first (right now it's just over my ears) wearing cute unisex t shirts and flared 70s "cowboy" jeans as I call them if anybody asks what the hell am I doing wearing those things . People just think I have a weird obsession with vintage clothing lol. I am still "in the closet" with everybody as I live in Alabama.. you know.. the state that is filled with people who thinks that everybody who is not white, Christian and MACHO/country boy as hell is going to hell... My wife is the only person I know who is accepting of LGBT people.. we live in a sundown town.. My wife would support me in this I know. She supported me when I told her I was an Atheist, she said that she would love me no matter what because of who I am on the inside 🥺. I've always been bisexual, but this woman is a very special person, she's very accepting of alternate lifestyles. We are a speck of blue in a sea of red. I think want to take things slow before I complete my transition.. it will be fun seeing if anyone reacts or even notices anything different as the months go by and I become more and more of a Feminine "Tomboy". I.. I think that's my goal. I honestly don't know if I could go all out with tons of makeup and cute, sexy dresses. Hell, my wife doesn't so I guess you can say she's a little bit of a tomboy too. She wears cute t shirts and the occasional low neck cut female t shirt and she has a handful of dresses that she wears on occasion, but she mostly wears what's comfortable and I think that's going to be me whenever I decide to start taking HRT & T blockers and fully commit to my transition. My wife just thinks I've become hyper fixated with grooming myself, she actually likes it though! So I've made the decision to shave completely, but I REALLY don't want to have to shave my chest and stomach for the rest of my life... Does HRT & T Blockers help with this? Or will I have to possibly start getting my chest and stomach waxed? Because this is a LOT of maintenance lol. My body naturally produces a lot of testosterone. My voice isn't that deep, but I was born with a TON of body hair.. thankfully my back is naturally bare though. So about me, I was born with straight hair, my eyelashes are very naturally thick, for SOME reason I have had manboobs my entire life (you can make them out in a tight t shirt), my hips have curves to them, I have pretty substantial love handles even being skinny (I'm 6ft/179lbs) currently working on gettig myself down to 165lbs again. I have slight bow legs? My knees very slightly bend inward. I think I have some feminine characteristics already, more so than others because I've seen men names before online (obviously) I THINK I have a chance at passing someday in the future when I fully commit to this? But my height is what scares me. Can I really pass and be 6ft?.

    • @CammyAtHomeActual
      @CammyAtHomeActual 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's pretty substantial but it's good to see you taking steps to understand who you are. I recommend looking up the Gender Dysphoria Bible. I'm on my phone so I don't have the link but it's easy to find It's important to be safe first and foremost. Otherwise, you don't need to have it all figured out right away. It's a journey of exploration and discovery so enjoy it It's a bit of shameless self promotion, but I have some supercuts of my transition videos if you want to see what I did. You can also check out the old channel for the individual videos and a bunch more. It's @cah-lockout I think. I think there is also a link in my about tab. Very interesting comment on one of my all time favorite TV shows - can't compare to Twin Peaks but what can? Glad I found this video. Wild Palms did leave a very strong impression on 20 year old me back then. I still love the individual performances and overall feel. Some of the scenes I find iconic even today. And man was this ever a time to hunt for dystopian cyberpunky media, especially since there were so few good titles in that regard. Strange Days, though, is still in my all time Top 5 list today, it's genius. Split Second also comes to mind (Kim Catrall). And for those really starved of material one can take a look at Abel Ferrara's "New Rose Hotel". Weird, alternative, artsy.

      Split Second and Nemesis, both from 1992, are some of my favorite 90's cyberpunk. I have a real love for those low budget sci-fi B movies from the era. I could talk forever about them. I used to have a TH-cam channel all about that kind of movie but I shut it down. Strange Days is a beast of a movie too, I think I even say that in the video :D I'm glad you like this though, this kind of video is a lot of work

    I'm glad that you've found a niche! I'm much more productive working on my expertise with TTRPGs now, and feel better about it. I'd love to hear more about your experience as a disabled creator, personally, but your videos so far have always been interesting. I just need to find the optimal way to read your books now. (I have a Nook; it'll probably be my desktop.)

      Thanks, I'm glad you like my nonsense. The companion video to this one that will be up next week I talk a bit about being disabled I also love TTRPG writing too and spend a lot of creative effort on it even though I don't have a group to play with right now Desktop is prob your best bet right now but if you have android or iphone you could always go with the Kindle app. Once I get my slate of books out and listed I'm going to figure out how to sell on other platforms than KDP

    A doctor friend of mine uses some powdered charcoal rubbed on the hairs to darken them to make the laser more effect at targeting the hairs. I personally have no experience with the use of laser that. Because of my intersex body I have never had body hair and a very light brown hair on my face. I hate hair and am glad I have never had to deal with it. I shave every other day but could go a full week before anyone would notice hair.

    • @CammyAtHomeActual
      @CammyAtHomeActual 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That sounds like it might cause the laser to target the wrong thing and could burn pretty badly. I don't know though, that's purely a guess I'm officially jealous of your lack of hair lol It sounds like you wouldn't be a good candidate for laser and would be better off jumping right to electrolysis if it's something you want

      @@CammyAtHomeActual My lack of body hair is one of the few great aspects of my condition. I also deal with gender dysphoria similar to what transexuals deal with. In my case I cannot take estrogen as a way of coping.my body developed. I developed almost stage four testicualr cancer that is based on ovarian cancer.One of my testis was a ovotestis. Along with a bunch of massive germ cell teratoma. So it is me who is jealous Cammy of you.for being able to take estrogen. Today at 1:30 I will be taking more testing so as to asertain just what form of estrogen will cause my cancer to return if I were to try to take estrogen. If the results find the exact form of estrogen would pose a hazard for me I may be able to at last take something that will let me become my true self. The one remaining testis never fully developed as such and may even be in part a ovotestis as other blood tests may suggest. Even the Mayo Clinic doesn't fully understand my body chemistry. Because of my chronic low testosterone I should have Bone density issues yet after recovery from chemo my bones density returned to that of a 30 year old. Strange. Three years of osteoporosis and some broken bones and then my bone density recovered fully. really strange I continue to wish you well on your path. Keep doing what you need to do to thrive.. Thank you for this video. I am also a content creator and I'd love to do a video with you about this series. I saw it when it aired, and I fell in love. It hit a lot of my favorite things. I was also a baby film nerd who was really into Oliver Stone at the time. Anyhoo, us fans of this quirky dark dystopian miniseries are a small breed. Stay paranoid my friend. @@FionnigantheCinemaHeretic From a 2024 perspective one could make the argument that the character of a media figure turned politician turned cult leader might tickle some fancies today. Although maybe that hits too close to home. To quote Kreutzer: "I have all the traits of a popular politico. Bad breeding, vulgar manners and one hell of a tan" ... or spray tan. Sounds awfully familiar. Similar levels of ciminality and insanity, too. It's doubtful that this will get Wild Palms a new audience.

    I also fell off Dungeon23 like... in March, for similar reasons. I think I like the worldbuilding aspect more, and letting "the dungeon" be the only mode of play isn't as enjoyable as it sounds. Good luck with whatever you're doing next!

      Same. I have so much fun worldbuilding. I usually just lift towns and dungeons from pre-written adventures then fit them into the plot and world and so on As Hemingway said, "All DM's steal stuff, hell even Matt Mercer did it on stream." Or something like that, I don't know he was weird

    This would be an interesting experiment for me, but I live with my family and thus have a lot of books that I haven't personally read. They are also scattered across multiple bookshelves. But there are some highlights: - Oldest I've personally purchased or received: I think I have a slightly damaged copy of "Walden Two" by B.F. Skinner, which is either the original (1948) or a 50s reprint? I don't remember, but I think I got it from a library. - Most batshit insane and/or dangerous (somehow not the above): "History, Fiction or Science: Vol. 1" by Anatoly Fomenko, which is about a Russian ultranationalist conspiracy theory that Classical Antiquity didn't exist and took place in the Middle Ages (you know, when Russia became sort of a thing). Ironically obtained from a curios store in Alexandria, Minnesota, where there is a fake Viking runestone that says they got there in the 14th century. - Largest by physical volume: Stephen Wolfram's A New Kind of Science. I clearly have a type. 😅

      I agree, you def have a type. lol I haven't read a lot of the books on my shelf either so don't feel bad. I buy books that look neat and then they hang out with the others until I get around to them which from what I gather is pretty normal I've actually heard of that Russian one on a video talking about weird conspiracy theories not that long ago. It sounds insane
