Don't think it was just power level situation during flight, Superman was punctured lung like breathing. I think it lets the audience know there is a real threat and stakes.

Couldn’t agree with you more! Both on the comic issues themselves and the class warfare point. I’m a capitalist, and not ashamed to say I have a very rich and successful father (who grew up poor!). My favorite so far is definitely Absolute WW, followed closely by Absolute Batman. My problem is that it feels like Jason Aharon (one of my favorite comic book writers) stripped Superman of his relatability and humanity.

Love the reviews, and the rankings 😂 My rankings also change after each issue which is a good sign. A particular story staying at the bottom for 2 issues might actually be a concern. But the fact they every new issue means a story moves is a good sign for the absolute universe so far. We’ll see how long that lasts of if the rankings settle after like 5 to 6 episodes.

My ranking is the exact same. I didnt like WW #1 but that second issue hit home. Absolute batman was my very first comic book. Then I went into superman/WW and now im on Justice League unlimited and Two-Face. Really enjoying the All-In Initiative. From never reading a comic to having a pull list now lol.

my first impression of your description and from how it looks is that its some kind of exhaust system for solar energy that prevents his body from holding too much at one time, so maybe thats why it glows or looks like fire. I really like the absolute universe because so far its really pulled back on the crazy over the top powers of the main universe, and the characters feel much more relatable.

Im gonna get nitpicky with you bcuz I can see hold no malice for Dan Didio and his tenure as editor in chief and co-publisher of DC and I feel the need to clarify the record. He did not leave because DC wouldnt go with his 5G initiative and he stood on principle. DC asked him politely to gtfo bcuz his every initiative ended in disaster and the company had lost marketshare and reputation to the point Didio was jeapodizing their future regarding the merger/buyout with Discovery. I don't know if it was a situation prior to the merger or something that would have happened. The following is unsubstantiated and may be purely rumor. Bcuz all assests are placed under heavy scrutiny in a buyout/merger, DC was not happy with what was deacribed to me as spending a decade cleaning up after every failed initiative of Didio's. Fan online backlash was not good and rumors were circulating the publishing arm of DC would be decimated with the future of DC comics becoming solely an IP licensing company. The chaos of Didio's last big events as co-publisher and money spent on the Bendis fiasco were pretty much death nails in the coffin for him. Thia part is bases purely on my own opinion and speculation. Didio being ousted was already a guarantee and pulling the trigger during the pandemic lockdown allowed him not to just abruptly leave his co-workers in a lurch. I'm not a fan of the man's writing or any of his decisions while in charge of DC comica, but overwhelming sentiment from people he has worked is that he's a genuinely nice guy.

This Absolute series seems like some of the best DC stuff of late.. really liking the changes they've made. Havent bought a comic in ages but i think ill get these when its fully out.

I was never a huge Wonder Woman fan but, goddamn, this looks cool! It's a very different take on the character, but all of the classic DC characters have gotten a bit samey. Maybe a fresh look/take on them is what they need to revive them.
