Oof, I personally avoid stove recipes like the plague. It is by far the most punishing of all the mini games since you lose progress when you miss a target and you lose a bunch of time waiting for it to go all the way around again. Also, congrats on making it through the grand opening with only a couple of hiccups. It certainly asks a lot of the player.
Unfortunately, it's a lot harder to do trial and error with the bath block system since you are limited to 3 a day, and failed bath blocks count towards your 3.
The thing that breaks my immersion with shopkeeps more is when they're willing to buy an infinite amount of a niche item at the same pricing as if they bought one of those niche items. It's just bad business.
I can confirm that if you don't have access to the research building (whether that be because you took off the perk or changed the building) you lose access to the research benefits. However, once you gain access to the building again you regain all of your previous research. The chef specialty perks are fairly rare to get and may even be tied to your cooking level. I've spent hundreds of thousands of credits refreshing the hire menu and ran into the specialty perks only occasionally.
Yeah, unless it's been updated, there's no way to cut gems. The only use for gems that you mine are for furniture from the artist. Hopefully that gets changed soon though. Also, good luck with the Teahouse grand opening. That one is a doozy.
I figured the title was going to come from one of your kitchen staff glitching out and not doing anything during service, but that sandwich hat is waaaay funnier. It has to be an "idiot sandwich" reference, yeah? They even had that chef give you a Gordan Ramsey tear down. Also, the townsfolk dialogue will constantly loop if you have seen the rest of what they have to say.
Great job on that boss fight! I'm glad you figured out that putting the bow away makes you faster (I may or may not have almost lost to the boss because I didn't realize that earlier, lol). It is a shame that the bow you get isn't better than the one you can buy. I'm also glad you got to meet the cliff-climbing elk, lol. Also, you can fight the volcano boar boss once a day and there's a small chance for it to drop a legendary tier spear that will get you an achievement. I'm still working on that, lol.
It's great to see that you got supply chain now! It's a game changer for keeping your restaurant supplied, but does come with some draw-backs. The first being the selection available, and the second being the max amount you can get from a vendor. Which is why I still make the vendor rounds everyday to make sure I have enough ingredients for running longer services. Also, make sure you have the funds to pay for the ingredients at the start of the delivery days. Not sure what happens when you can't afford it, but I can't imagine that it's good.
I will say that I did end up just getting the heat immunity skill because I went to the volcano almost every day, and you'll need a lot of sulfur to do the bathhouse stuff. Plus the other minerals are just nice to have.
Yes, welcome to Le Sequoia, please make yourself comfortable and peruse our menu of 'Meat Slurps' (the results of putting wagyu steak in every drink in the bar)
The bathhouse restoration is my favorite part of the game's story so far. Mainly because Aylin quickly became my favorite character and it also felt like it had a bit more weight than the rest of the story (apart from the critic's visit). Also, it's neat to see that you took the same approach to research as I did by experimenting with different ingredient qualities and speculating about the exact things that I did. Definitely feels like there was a method to my madness with what I was doing, lol I should mention that I haven't needed Baijiu for recipes, but that it can be good for enhancing recipes. Sake is a little better even when it's worth less because it's more available to the player.
No spoilers, obviously, but there's still a bit of story to go for act 3. Not sure why, but act 2 was disproportionately short compared to act 1 and 3. That being said, act 3 is my favorite part so far.
Once I got my critic review, I couldn't wait to see what you got. I wasn't able to get to the critic's food before my staff could so the quality of his meal was in the high 50s. So the only positive thing he had to say is that the decor "transported him to another world" (I just have a wall of the same potted plant, lol) and my review was a 9/10 because my reputation was really high. He even compared my food to diner food, lol
Hehe, it is nice that Bianca acknowledges that you did a lot to help Thelio. Cause no one else ever will, lol
The Supply Chain perk has been a game changer when it comes to buying ingredients. Not only do you get the deliveries when you schedule them, but it doesn't even take away from the stock that they might have on that day.
The cooking stations seem to function on a build-up system rather than a mark-down system, where it starts at 0, and each correct input gives quality while incorrect input takes away quality. Except for the barista machine and the grill (I think?) which only seem to look at the end state of the mini game.
Fun fact about that take out order glitch, once it detects that the ingredients are there (at least 1 of each) it will take out the ingredients for each order you make, but it doesn't recognize that those ingredients are depleted. Meaning you can put in one of each, and make as many as you want without repercussion. Also, the excess orders can't be sold or gifted, but they can at least be stored or destroyed so long as you manually drag them to where you want them to go.
Oh my! That's an interesting system for tea. I knew that brewing tea for employees was a thing since a perk references it, but I figured it would just be an energy up thing. I'm pleasantly surprised that it's way more in-depth than that. I wonder if the different seasons might not change what grows where, but how often the spot refreshes.
Great job with the grand opening! The blender is weird and feels buggy with how it works. You can also double tap on ingredients to add them again, but not two ingredients in a row. And from my experience, 8 seats for 2 chefs and 3-4 waiters is a good balance of being kept busy and not upsetting the customers.
As someone who also has been playing this game, I was also looking at that recipe and thinking "He probably can't make that yet... but it's an epic recipe...ehhh, it's so expensive, but chairs don't cost that much...yeah, he should get it, it'll be fine!" 😂
I feel like doing auto cooking is only there if you're bad at the mini games or really need to keep an eye on the restaurant. Since it takes just as long as regular cooking with a huge drop in quality, it almost seems like a worse option.
I'm really enjoying the little jokes and commentary with the speech bubbles in the thumbnail. Also, I definitely agree that the atmosphere of the town and the personality of the citizens feels way more flushed out and realistic. It has the sense of a place with history that survived because of the community being there for each other.
I really like the different operation modes. I wonder if there will eventually be a way to have a specific operating mode active that won't require you to actively be there so you can go out and do quests, gather ingredients, and buy stuff for the restaurant. That being said, it's really weird that this is a restauranteur game that has you gathering ingredients yourself. And it kinda shows why other games don't do this, since needing to gather ingredients takes away from the restaurant management gameplay.
Seems really interesting so far. The lore of the world itself, the characters of the town, the fact that for once, people in game treat you like someone they haven't met before. Only thing that worries me, is the cooking mini game. If it were half as long, it would be fine, but the fact that you have to use either that or an employee that will fall asleep in the kitchen worries me about the future game state.
Yeah, it's a bit mean for the game to tease you with really nice armor, but I can definitely understand the in-game reasons for it, lol. Maybe if you find all the pieces, you'll get a replica of the set or something?
I really like how your house looks! The theming is a bit eclectic, but it doesn't clash. And the use of the splash of yellow with all of the cool colors is a nice accent. Plus, I love the little attention to detail on the furnishing like the book on the end table. A great job all around!
One of the biggest things I've learned from games like this is to make an abundance of chests very early to make sure I have my inventory sorting all taken care of from the beginning...until it inevitably runs out of space and I need to move things around anyway, lol
Never had a lobster roll. Never was a fan of lobster in general.
It's good that you found a way to pass the time without going to the mines, lol. Fishing is always a time consuming thing in these games, and often overlooked.
I can definitely understand why you'd want to do content outside of the mines, but at the same time, they are designed to be the most time-consuming part of the game. I certainly can't speak for everyone, but I can't imagine being too upset at seeing the mines often in a playthrough of the game.
You know... I don't think i have ever attempted to try and sell raised animals for a profit in Stardew. It just never seemed worth it compared to the consistent drops that are turned into profitable artisan goods.
I can't wait to see how they do animal ranching in this game. It was always one of my favorite parts in Stardew. On another note, I can see that growth spell coming in clutch with quickly growing things for the museum. The question is, does it work on trees?
It works on trees, but it is only 1 growth stage for the trees.
@@AirigoLock Interesting. Unfortunately, with how slowly mana comes back, it's not super worth it until you can reliably get mana potions.
I commend you for trying to do something outside the mines for a couple of days. I know whenever I played Stardew, 80% - 90% of my time was in the mines, lol
During the mining time lapses, it always makes me chuckle when you go to eat something. In the blur of fighting and mining, just taking a moment to sip on something.
Damn, that D&D group hurts my soul...
Unsurprisingly, the mining perks are really useful since a lot of time is going to be spent there.
It is going to be a long time spent there.
@@AirigoLock Especially since there's a magic system that can restore your energy and health.
Crafting pulling stuff out of your storage is a huge deal, lol. Only downside is that it may be harder to ration certain materials for certain projects, but that is a very minor downside.
Yay! Surprise video from Airigo!
This game seems a lot more similar to Sun Haven rather than Stardew (of course Stardew came before either). Both take place in a more fantasy medieval setting (to the point that you frequently talk with dragons in both), quests happen a lot more often and as a means of advancing plot, there's a museum that doubles as the community center, and the crafting is also time based. The differences I've seen so far is the quality of life changes like not needing to fill the watering can and the shop board for purchasing, purchasing skill buffs over an in-depth skill tree, and the town reputation rewards. I hope that there are more differences as we see more of the game since it is charming and has a lot of care put into it.
All of the little references are really cute. Especially since they're made to look and feel consistent with the rest of the game. It adds a ton of charm.
The art style is nice, there's some good quality of life stuff in there, plus I'm always a sucker for a medieval setting. I haven't seen much of anything that is unique to this title yet, but I also haven't seen much of what it has to offer. I'm intrigued to see how this game is, and I'm loving the bad puns, lol
Binding of Isaac runs have a very similar energy, where you either have an amazing combo and can steamroll most anything else in the game, or you spend an hour grabbing every resource on each floor.
Your fight against Slasher was great! It exemplifies what I love about action games that have a lot of thought and care put into them. The fight was challenging, but the telegraphing on attacks made it so that you could easily learn to fight it if you lost against it. Granted, there was only one attack, but hopefully it's a trend that continues on as you progress further.
Nice second try! Don’t pass up the sinew slicer it’s a life saver, also remember to keep picking up higher level weapons, as to keep a lower level one can hurt your dps. Try to have variety with the scrolls as it nets you more health which can be the difference. Finally, you might want to try the second life mutation, it can only be taken as your first and it helps if you mess up early. 🙂
Looks kike an awesome game! There seems to be a weird healing mechanic that heals damage you take from an enemy if you kill that enemy quickly enough. And the abundance of the teleports makes it more worthwhile to explore more since you don't have to backtrack.
That weapon was an insane start for a first go, but you definitely didn’t need to kill yourself there I don’t think, you just had to keep exploring and you would’ve found the way out. Also make sure to use your items, they’re really good at saving your health. Also roll more, you kinda didn’t need too cuz your weapon was op, but for the future. The sewers is a really good level to speed run/skip cuz the rewards from the room are really good. Just some tips since I played a good bit of it 😁
I might have missed the continuation, but I thought the way forward was blocked by a teleportation thing.
Nice, was an interesting game and I think you have some valid opinions 🤔. Cant wait to see what game you pick next!
I'd have to imagine that the resource duplication loop is an exploit since they had an entire upgrade path for resource gathering. I feel like they could have done more with you just being a blacksmith instead of an all-around craftsman. Blacksmithing already has a lot one could make under that umbrella so they shouldn't have needed to go into alchemy, glassblowing, or engineering. And even if they wanted the objective to be something related to the town, just keep it in the realm of smithing metal for whatever trade the town specializes in. Towards the end, it really seemed rushed and got to the point where it didn't matter what you were smithing for objectives. Not to mention there probably could have been some final conversation that then led to Opal being exiled instead of it already being resolved when you finished talking to the dragon. The blacksmithing itself was a good balance of some skill checks without it being tedious and too much in the weeds. I just wish it wasn't as resource intensive so there wouldn't be a ton of grinding for materials. All in all, it seems like an okay game, and it was a great introduction to your channel! I can't wait to see what you continue putting out from here!
Bold choice to allow you to drag around the credits, lol
I figured that Arrow wanted to use his ballista, but i was hoping he'd somehow launch you across, lol
