In both this and the sequel, Melvin comes out the winner. That is something I really liked about these two episodes. Someone initially so depressed about their genuinely sad and unhappy existence had their life completely turned around. See "He calls me babe" to see what I mean.
In both of these, Melvin ends up to be happy contented and he wins. Thats actually a wonderful moral considering his terrible situation at the start of the first episode.
As a kid, I didn’t understand what the hell was going on. Now that I’m an adult, it’s just bizarre Cartoon Network was able to get away with airing this during normal daytime hours.
