Matt "Yo, let me fly your quad". Chad "Fine as long as you are asking me". Result = 30 second flight with crash. The good news is it only cost $1.20 to fix. (Screws and two props). LOL Here is to letting your brother fly your stuff like he stole it.

    " a little bit of practice "and about 4 or 5 helis,with a lot of spare parts!. P.s. I still can't do it

    Don’t skip the 45* hover! And only do sides and nose and tail. It will bite you in the ass. Wenn I was learning I was told to just do sides and nose and tail. I’m in the process of learning piro hover and piro flip and couldn’t understand that I couldn’t control it in piro hover, until I did really really slow.. and what would you know, it’s all the 45* I can’t control. So now after 2 years I need do start over with hovering again, so I can progress to more advanced 3d. Just a tip and hope it helps somebody.

    I know this video is seven years old, but I got sucked into this hobby because of you. I first started with a small blade mcpx and came here for help. I remember spending hours on the sim trying complete a circle, and still not being able to do it. I'm not an expert by any means, but I'm now doing pyroflips on a whiplash turbine. There's no way I would've made it this far without your help. Thanks friend!

    Just wanted to say thank you. I studied your flying back when you made these videos. Many years later I have a great fleet of birds and really enjoy flying 3d. Your work and information provided me with a solid foundation. It takes many years and allot of money, but I love it!...Hope you are still flying and this comment finds you well. Mobius

    pirouetting rightwards instead of left mainly takes out power since the tail has to counter act the thrust even more...usually leading to blow outs and bogging. of course it depends on which direction the main is turning, but they're usually clockwise looking from the top.

  • @wnleon

    It was not the best flight because you seemed to have trouble getting it under control. The helicopter was all over the place and you were very lucky to avoid impacting the ground. With more practice you will learn to hover and not have to move the sticks so much. Unless you meant to fly like that, but that would be impossible. An artist is never happy with his work.

  • @profsacin
    @profsacin 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Good video. I just learned this. If you get frustrated keep trying, I agree. But If you keep crashing doing something new I always try to simply it first. For this it helped me to do chase view (the camera follows the heli) in Real Flight and learn turns and sharp turns first maintaining altitude. If you don't have chase view, master turns first and go from steady hover, to forward, draw an arc keeping altitude and hover again helped. They keep the arc longer and longer until it becomes a circle.

  • @bucklee2945
    @bucklee2945 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    So what do you visualize when piroing to keep it level? Do you just look at the 'disc' as a whole and not where head or tail is?

    Why is it that the 3D heli guys are now looking at quads since quad racing became popular...

    • @zfloop
      @zfloop 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's because one of us always starts it. In our case it was Mr. Banks. Quad racing is a lot of fun and something different to try. Flying a quad line of sight wasn't that interesting to me because they are relatively easy to fly and I wasn't excited about quad platforms for video and pictures. FPV opened a whole new world with quads. Flying low though the woods is just good fun and the mini quads are almost indestructible except for DSW6.

    • @IanF-FPV
      @IanF-FPV 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah Chad. I feel the same as well. But I never really fully looked at FPV until the racing videos. Now I want to build a 250 racing quad as well. Hopefully not too difficult to put everything together. Still flying your helis though?

    04:34, I think you meant a lot of cyclic and less collective

    • @bcurt7834
      @bcurt7834 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nah, lots of cyclic, not as much pitch is right. Collective really just describing the type of mechanism for adding altitude on these helicopters.

    Amazing demo that... I've got nose in inverted... so great to see the more difficult orientations. Wish i could get tail in inverted, seems impossible!

  • @fredheimer
    @fredheimer 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    your 3d skills are amazing. which i could have half of them. the videos are really helpfull but the figure 8 morphing transition are hard to practice. everytime i change from backwards to inverted backwarts, i loose speed and come out of the 8th ? how about collective control in figure 8th transitions ?
