What about heels? Simce they have slight heel height how do we do that?
Heels are a little bit more tricky, but it's generally the same process. The hardest thing is finding heels that have the same height as the CLO models foot when in the raised heel position. Once you're happy with the heel size and position, the only change you make is you select high heel when registering the shoe in CLO rather than selecting flat

The shoe in the tutorial is one piece, but what to do when the shoe has multiple pieces? is all a mess
Some models you download can be a bit messy, especially free ones. Some I've found are pretty unusable if you're new to Blender and find it hard to clean them up. However you can try highlighting the whole shoe and pressing CNTRL J to join the seperate pieces.
Hey mate, Love it - did both tutorials thanks heaps. Running into an issue Registering the Acc - "Name of shoe mesh should have either 'shoes_l' or 'shoes_r' to register." Tried renaming in Blender and Clo, any ideas?
Hey, thanks a lot! During this version of CLO, you didn't need to rename the mesh for it to still register as a shoe, however it seems like since CLO2024 has released, they've reverted back to the old way where the shoes had to be named appropriately. Seems like time for a new tutorial I think. In the old tutorial I made, I go over renaming the mesh at around 12:22. Here's the link th-cam.com/video/GJvoX7MV_hQ/w-d-xo.html
@@bytribevision Thanks mate I figured it out through Blender. Any ideas why the shoes aren't sticking with the Avatar in pose-changes?

Thank you so much 🙏. Great video.👍🏻
tell me where you got this pose so that your hands are in your pockets?
I get this message. What can be? "This file cannot be registered as an Accessory. The number of meshes does not match the requirements (Shoes: 2, Others: 1)."
It looks like you have something else in the shoes file that you have exported. Make sure when exporting you select only the shoes, and limit the export to selected objects only in the export screen
Thanks for this - as a noob I'm running into an issue when using the mirroring option on blender. If I use mirroring, the shoe that has been mirrored loses it colour/texture and imports as black. I've tried for hours messing around with 'UV mapping' but can't seem to get past this issue. Any ideas? Thanks.
Hey man, don't worry I was also a noob when I uploaded this tutorial too. Ive since uploaded a new version where you dont need to mirror the shoe at all. Check it out on the channel. However with this new method the shoes cannot be exported into any other software other than CLO, so if you render in different software like Blender or Unreal Engine the shoes won't show. The reason why the shoe shows as black is because when we mirrored the shoe, we flipped the normals of the shoe (which basically means the shoe is inside out). Although the shoe looks black, when you render in CLO the shoe will be the correct colour. However the shoe being black is not the worst of your worries, as when the normals are flipped, any trousers you have resting against the shoe will be fighting to get on the right side of the normals, so they end up all mangled inside the shoe and not sitting nicely ontop. If you google how to flip normals in blender, it's fairly easy and fixes the issue!

I do not know how to get textures from blender and import to clo. please help me out
Go to the texture paint tab in blender In the top left portion of the screen it'll say 'image' click image then save as - and save somewhere easily accessible. Import your FBX into CLO with no avatar, select each shoe then add this image you have just saved from blender into clo using the 'texture' section in the property editior. Then export as FBX using the same settings as before, this is now your new FBX file to register the accessory
for some reason i dont see resolution ppi
Appreciate the tutorial, but I have a question. how do I flip the logos on the shoe correctly?
As far as I’m aware you can’t do this unfortunately. Shoes in CLO share 1 texture between them so one will always be the opposite of the other. Most people who do these photogrammetry scan (especially free ones) will only scan one shoe so the other is always a flipped replica of the scanned shoe
How can I Edit the design of a shoe in Clo?
It depends what you mean by design, all you can do to alter the shoe really is to change the texture. I have a video on my channel explaining how to do this using photoshop
@@bytribevision thanks so much for your speedy response, I am trying to rework the Adidas samba shoes for a school project and I want to like change to soles a bit and play with the labeling on it
@@blkaura6078 No problem! it’s pretty difficult to tell which part of the shoe is which with a texture of a photogrammetry shoe, they’re usually very messy. It’s all in trial and error
@@bytribevision do you think I could change the base color of a mode that I found from sketchfab ?
Amazing tutorial!
does it work with animation in clo?
Yes! All registered shoes will work with animation and poses
Hi mate, looks like the avatar glitch is fixed now. Do you know why when I am importing to Clo the shoe textures are not populating like it looks in blender? Looks like the clay shoe without the details
This can happen sometimes, even when you follow the steps exact. I’m not sure why. You can manually import the texture however. Go to the texture paint section in blender, press image > save as, and save to somewhere on your PC Now Import your FBX into CLO, click on the shoe and add the texture to the model in the property editor on the right hand side of the screen. Export this again as FBX, and this is your new FBX with texture to create your shoe registration with
Yo. Loved the video. I can't seem to get a heel to work. Do I need to adjust the avatar in Blender or CLO? Any tips would be much appreciated.
What problems are you having? I haven’t done too many heeled shoes but I might be able to help
Great, thanks so much for replying to my questions!!!
Great video. Thanks, wish I was as comfortable in blender, as I am in CLO. The UI in blender is so daunting.
Same here my friend. When you’re so used to one software, switching to another can be really annoying, even for things as simple as learning the button layout.
@@bytribevision Also, question. Once I have registered the accessory in my CLO, can I send the .zacs file to my friend and they can then just use the accessory as is? Or do they need to register as well in their CLO instance. I am trying to understand the term "register an accessory", what exactly is it doing.
Well I took the courage today to go through the steps in Blender. You really walk through it well. Couple of questions. How did you remove the shoes off the avatar in Clo before you exported the avatar to Blender. You said you used the Clo-set version, but all the ones I found had shoes. Also, the shoes that I downloaded from sketchfab, when I brought them into blender, came in as a bunch of individual objects. How do you group them in blender so that the scaling can be done as a group?
@@DavidSL64 yes you can send them the .zacs file! Just bear in mind shoes are gender specific so shoes created and registered on a female won’t work on a male
@@DavidSL64 that’s great! It only gets easier from here. To delete the shoes from the avatar in CLO, you have to click on the shoe, then right click ‘delete accessory’ Sometimes when you import shoes into blender from sketchfab they are separated, you can join them by clicking and dragging your mouse over the shoe to highlight everything, then pressing CONTROL J to join
Hey mate, any reason why nothing shows up in Blender when I export following your FBX export instructions from CLO?
Hi mate, doing it this way has some complications with blender. With the mirrored shoe, this will never show up in blender as it’s a ‘fake’ shoe put there in the CLO software, for this you’d have to duplicate the shoe in blender before exporting so you’re bringing in both a left and right into CLO. However I think there is a bug currently exporting outfits out of CLO into blender, I’m having a whole lot of issues such as avatars not exporting & also both left & right shoes like you said (even when they’ve previously worked in the past) and I haven’t figured out the issue yet
@@bytribevision thanks for that mate! Does seem like a potential CLO issue with the exports. Hopefully it gets figured out
What are the specs on your machine?
Thank u so much for that type of video, it helps me a lot to improve my skills. However, I faced with the problem, that after making all the adjustments in Blender, textures are not displaying in CLO. Can u, pls, suggest how to fix this? Thank u so much ❤
Hi, I’m glad you found the video useful. Sometimes even after following the steps, the textures don’t export out of Blender. It’s an easy fix though, go into the texture paint tab in blender, press image - save as - and save the texture somewhere on your computer. Now import the FBX into CLO, and add the texture through the property editor. Now export as FBX. This is your new FBX file to register your shoes
+1
Thank you for the information It would be cool if you make a tutorial on editing clothes on avtar right away ❤ P. S I don't write so well in English, if I wrote it incorrectly somewhere, sorry =)
but if we exported the Flo file as an fax the mirrored shoes is missing bro, how to fix it?
When using the shoes for exporting out of CLO, you must mirror the shoe in Blender so you have both a left and right shoe saved in one file. Then register following the same steps however you do not need to mirror the shoe in CLO
Hi, thank you so much for the video, really helpful. But If I want to render a video with a motion file, I need to use other softwares? like cinema 4d? I mean I know I can render inside Clo but it can create images not a video right?
Hi, I'm glad you found it helpful! You can definately render video in CLO, and it can look just as good as still images. Once you've selected what animation you want to use, and recorded it in the animation tab (top right drop down box that is typically set to simulation) you can change render from image to animation in the image/video properties in the render window. From here you can change all the typical settings that you would change for an image render, and also select new settings such as 'save as video' as well as the video format, which will give you the render file as a video rather than a bunch of still images of each frame.
hi, can you give some tips about the best settings for a video? @@bytribevision
@@NERO155ful I always use the same render settings for video as I do for images. The only change I make is I reduce the max render time to 1 minute (Unless I have any fur or other 'render only' materials. Then I increase the max render time slightly.
