    Is this a good bike for a 5’2 women?

    • @twowheelingtodd4973
      @twowheelingtodd4973 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, this is a perfect choice for 5’2”. It’s really low to the ground, very light, and if you can find one with original exhaust, it’s nice and quiet. I’ve owned 2 of these bikes, and taught a few friends how to ride on them . I have a 2021 goldwing, but still love this little bike.

      Sorry for the delayed response, I own another one of these, and took it on multiple highway rides, across alligator ally from Fort LAUDERDALE fl to Fort Myers Beach. It’s a little nerve wracking because average is 90mph and some pass well over 100 mph. This little guy is happiest under 65 mph though she will go 80 mph.

      I picked up another older one in amazing condition (1992) with 1400 miles on it for $1,050. Put 5500 miles on it and runs better than when I bought it. Love these bikes, they don’t make them like this anymore.

    I say you need to slow it down a bit, but, lol. I have the 2018 DCT Tourer and I admit. I ride fast. But, I do find here in Lubbock Texas, terrible drivers. This DCT allows me to absolutely get out front and escape the vehicles. I don’t like riding beside them at all. I try to stay in their rear view mirror until I can see them in mine. I’m pushing 70 years old and been riding my whole life. I absolutely stay out front on this bike. Why? Because I can and it’s the safest place to ride. It is by far the most nimble bike I’ve ever rode and I dare say for a Tourer, it has some balls. I don’t play around, I ride and absolutely feel safe at any speed. I know this bike can get me out of any situation. I absolutely believe in sharing the road, but, I’m going to do it with the cagers behind me. That being said, enjoy your wing …. It is the most perfect wing ever built.

      Sorry for the delayed response, unfortunately no. At lease here in the good old USA 🇺🇸, every other country it came with reverse. Honda took the manual transmission out of the line up for the 2022 Goldwing, it’s still an option on the tour version, and that one does come with a reverse.

      Thanks , I was considering another Harley right before I bought my Goldwing. I went to my local dealership where I spent thousands of dollars on repairs on my 2016 vrod, helmets, jackets. Exc. I was considering the pan America. I wanted to test ride it first, sales guy took my license and my wife’s license so she could ride as a passenger. Signed waiver, they gave me and my wife a orange jacket with license plate on it, sales guy was riding it out of the showroom and manager asked , where are you going with that bike? He replied, this customer is taking it for a test ride. Manager said not unless he agrees to buy it @ the 30% mark up. I didn’t even know if I would like that bike, my main concern was engine temperature. That was one of the main reasons the 2016 NRS was traded in, it was like riding a bbq. The way management responded and the problems I had with my vrod completely turned me off from Harley( for now lol 😂) . They do have a cult like following, and that’s great for your resale value. Thanks for watching and commenting. Happy holidays to you and you and your family.

And I cleaned with a paper towel while on my trip (couldn’t find my microfiber towel) I was worried I would have scratched, but it’s in perfect condition. I’ll paste the link to the website my exact windscreen below. I know I rode the hell out of 2nd, and I did that for a reason. It was cold and wet, I found that engine braking was needed, but your not too far in Pennsylvania from the dragon. I bought this Goldwing and 3weeks later took this 2600 mile road trip. You should take a ride and video yourself on a nice cold wet day and show me how it’s done ✅. Please reply when your video is posted, I and everyone here would love to see how it’s done.

      The windshield is from national cycle, this is the second windshield I bought from them. The first was for my Kawasaki Z900rs. They have really good quality, and anti-scratch protective coating. Their demos show their windscreen vs others. They use bats, guns and even bird round from a 50 cal shotgun. Others crack to pieces, this just gets holes. I’m really happy with this windshield, there is no buffering at all, compared to the stock windshield. At 80mph , I was able to drink my coffee ☕️. Below is the link for this windshield. I got mine on eBay for $189.00 www.nationalcycle.com/vehicles/motorcycle-1/honda/hondagl1800goldwing/2021hondagl1800goldwing/n20023.html

      Thanks for your reply, I just bought another bike, a 2021 Goldwing, but I still love my Honda nighthawk 250. Shortly after this video, I found a little gem. A 1992 cb250 with only 1300 miles. I put an additional 3500 miles in the last year, including mild off roading, added some Bridgestone battlelax tires and it does surprisingly well. The Honda 250 engine is really a great engine, minimal maintenance needed, and oil changes can’t be any cheaper. I use Walmart conventional 10w 30, oil and their is no filter to change. Approximately $4.00 oil changes every 2-3k miles . It really is a great starter bike. Thanks again for watching and commenting. Hope you find a great first bike, and when you do ride safe 👍🏻

      Hey Mark, This model doesn’t come with heated seats. I’m sure you could add, but aftermarket would be easier. Center stand is cheep and easy to install. Every other country offers the manual with reverse. As far as previous models, this would compare to the F6b. That model was striped, no abs, and cruise control was only offered on 2015 models. Yah, that’s a tough decision, I love Kawasaki, they make really solid dependable bikes. I traded my 2019 Z900rs for this bike. My original plan was to pay off the Kawasaki and than get the Goldwing. But I couldn’t make the Z900rs comfortable enough for long rides. For the money, Kawasaki Vulcan is a great value and probably one of the most underestimated bikes out on the market today. Really a great cruiser with the heart of a sport bike, I test road the Vulcan S and it was really nice, really depends on your riding style. I was not too sure about the Goldwings weight as I park my Goldwing in a shed, in my back yard. I was contemplating on the dct over the manual just for reverse, but I really love the control and feel of a clutch. Long story short, she’s no harder to get out of the shed than my Z900rs. Whatever you chose, you’re on 2 wheels so you really can’t go wrong!!! Ride safe!!!

    Compared to the R18, the GW is a Cadillac. That 18 is super heavy, and the foot position is horrible.

      Your 100% correct, I’ve never been nervous riding a bike, but that R18b really made me nervous, she’s really heavy, and Carries the weight really high. I couldn’t get my boot under the shifter, had to use the heal . I personally think they have a beautiful looking bike and sound system was much better than the Goldwing , their definitely going after the Harley market. When I jumped on my Goldwing, I felt like I was on a much lighter, way smoother and sportier bike. I knew I made the right decision with the Goldwing. I had my buddy check out the R18b, he couldn’t believe how much heavier she felt compared to the wing.

    Why do Americans insist on not wearing gloves at least

    • @twowheelingtodd4973
      @twowheelingtodd4973 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do wear a helmet whenever I ride, never gave much thought on gloves. Started wearing gloves after my Goldwing post when someone showed their hands after not wearing. It’s not because I don’t care about safety, I wear a riding jacket if I’m out in highway, and always a helmet. I live in muggy south Florida, sweaty 🥵 gloves felt like overkill.

      @@twowheelingtodd4973 as least you wear a helmet. Loads of Americans say stupid things like "if I come off at 70mph I'd be dead anyway so might as well not wear a helmet" . Gloves,helmet,boots and a proper riding jacket/armoured trousers will massively reduce damage. I came off at 60mph rear tyre puncture sent me sliding across the road under the bike and I wrecked my gear and few scrapes but that's it. Damn glad I had gloves on that day

    One more thing how is the sound system at higher speeds? Thank you

    • @twowheelingtodd4973
      @twowheelingtodd4973 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 2021 has a louder sound system than previous years. With the stock windshield it gets harder to hear at 70mph. I just installed a 19” aftermarket windshield from National cycle and I can hear perfectly at good 80, and at 90 it’s hard to hear. The video sound wasn’t edited at all. It’s really a good demonstration of how the sound system works. Hope that helps.

      How can a Goldwing that had a fixed faring back in 1979, copy a Harley road glide that came out in 1998? Maybe if you want to call the road glide, a Tour Glide? But the tour glide came out in 1980. So I don’t get the reference. If anything, The road glide copied the Goldwing. I love the fact that multiple bikes have fixed faring. It gives us riders options, and pushes manufacturers to improve options on safety features and performance. Yamaha eluder, Indian CHALLENGER , Honda GOLDWING ,bmw k1600b, Kawasaki Vaquero, just to name a few. Harley is not the only name in the game.

BMW is really is a beautiful bike in person. But She rides like a tank, and shakes worse than a old pan head, but is different and cool in its own way. Unfortunately I’m not a Harley fan any longer. I was burnt by Harley with my 2016 vrod. I had issues with the neck bearing, wheel bearings, fuel pump, fuel gage, exhaust welds, and finally trade in value. I was going to give them one more try with the pan America, but my local dealer is charging 30% over invoice. Nah. This is a Fat Six engine. Apples and Oranges. This is a Porsche on two wheels. This bike handle significantly better than a Harley. Harley does what it does in the V-Twin world. If any company trying to knock anyone off it’s Indian with it’s Challenger. Those are apples to apples. This Gold Wing should be compared with the BMW K1600 B for an apples to apples. Great bikes, all of them, but entirely different in performance and yes, looks too. In any event, 45+ years in production and legendary reliability, the Gold Wing hands down for me.

      @@roadglide Yes, the Indian (Chieftan and Challenger), Harley-Davidson (Street Glide and Road Glide), and new BMW R18 compete against each other. The Honda Goldwing competes with the other BMW K1600. I still choose 2018+ Honda Goldwing DCT over all of these for performance, comfort, and reliability. Can't beat it.
