I flipped a benchmade 42 when I wuz in middle school then a mtech dragon I got from a flea when I got older I got into balisong from balisong in real time not from a futuristic video console or whatever but I think it’s cool that we all learned about it from like ninja type stuff like throwing stars and nunchucks like in the video console

I'm a child of the 80's, when I was a kid, Balisongs (specifically the BM 42) were in a lot of movies. Usually in the hands of the bad guys or gang members (not always). The flourish of the Bali I guess seemed very threatening to people back then. Probably where the negative stigma comes from. Some movies that have a scene with a bali off the top of my head: Big Trouble in Little China (airport scene), the Mummy (Brandon Fraiser version, cuts a scarab out of guy with one), Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (punk rock chick goes doubles), Red Dawn (80's version, kids tracks his kills with hash marks in the stock of his AK-47 with a BM 42)), tons of martial arts movies as well. Hollywood hard a hard on for them back then anytime "cool knife" was needed for a scene. The funny thing is they NEVER do anything more than the basic open and close, I mean never. This is probably why I didn't discover that there were tons of cool tricks until you-tube showed me after looking up a review on a BM 53, which flips like crap BTW, it's an EDC not a flipper. I saw a Bt8B tutorial, and I was immediately hooked. I had to learn it. So, I bought a BM 52 and a Kimura. Had a Cold Steel Arc Angel that I foolishly sold. I wish Squid has been around back then. The only company who cared about flipping was BRS, but those were and still are really expensive.

i actually gotten in for valorant i specificaly saw a cool knife skin the recon balisong it looked really interesting and i searched it up and saw some videos after a month of watching videos i desited to order one and learned many tricks including the val combo which also made friends interested in the hobby!

I straight up just got off valo and watched this lol

Counter Strike was my introduction to Balisongs, although it's so long ago I don't actually know if it was the factor that made me buy one in the first place. But it was definitely where I came to know the hobby

bushing balisongs get tap if you beat em..I dunno washer only is kinda dope..more elegant and sleek.. less parts ..tap is fine cuz I mean when do you really close the knife during flipping except for techspine stuff
