I just want to say, year one for Ian was the most fun I have had in years. The next year, Idalia, we responded so much better, almost no chaos, and only half a day to engage in a helpful way. We cleared probably 40 homes, fed 40-50 people, and shared some smiles. People mostly just need to know that there are strangers out there who care, and who will give up their own time, money, and comfort to help them out. This year, we have helped in Yankeetown, FL, where a 15' storm surge covered a small town of 200+ homes. We showed up 9 days after the storm, and we were the first volunteers from outside the community besides a red cross food tent. We helped a 91 year old special operator from '65-'67 in nam. Ole Woody and his wife with Alzheimer's were preparing to ride out Milton in an RV.... I'll never forget praying with Woody.

It depends on who you're fighting. Going up against any 1st world country's military/law enforcement will mean you're pretty fucked regardless. They'll spot you with thermal cameras. You'll have a slight edge with analog NVGs though. LARPing in the woods? Laggy, illuminator temu shit is probably alright

The cheap IR Chinese scopes are fine for hunting pigs at night. For combat? Preferably no but it could have limited uses when the alternative is being totally blind at night.
