Introduction to the new project car "Betty" a 1946 Oldsmobile Series66. It was a barn find car that someone else pulled from the barn. That guy planned to do something with it but that never panned out. Winter is coming and he has no place to put it so he sent it down the road to the next person...me!

Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window ? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..." Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!" Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky." Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction." Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment ?"

      Well, neither one came in a 46 Olds so I don't think she minds. Also, that is how it was when I dug it out of an old guys barn, so they worked together in a racecar back in the day with no problem.

      would be cool, but I already have a 383 chevy stroker sitting on the engine stand. I built it 2 years ago and still haven't put it in anything. Already paid for...... and makes about 550 hp

      setting it aside. I have built a runstand to try to get it going (it and the 37 engine) The guy I got it from tried and couldn't get it to run (you can see where there are a few new plugs etc.), which is why he let it go cheap. Basically priced as though there is no engine. Smallblock going in it in the new year.

    • @incampbellsshoptoday2599
      @incampbellsshoptoday2599 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am moving the engine back so the pulley is 3/4" behind it. Mainly to move weight toward the back. Since it is a T body on an A frame I can put the body anywhere, not restricted to stock engine bay.

    What are the wheel spacers for and where did you get them

    • @incampbellsshoptoday2599
      @incampbellsshoptoday2599 ปีที่แล้ว

      I bought these on Amazon, but most parts places or speed shops have them. They are usually listed as lug pattern on the car to lug pattern of the wheel. These were 5x5.5 to 5x4.5

    I looked up what a rear spring spreader looked like and what it looks like is a turn buckle with c-cups on the ends that catch the eyelets of the spring. As you turn the buckle it spreads the spring until it fits the shackles.

  • @willwade1101
    @willwade1101 ปีที่แล้ว

    Use a bolt and nut to pull those bushings into place.

  • @willwade1101
    @willwade1101 ปีที่แล้ว

    According to what I've read, you're supposed to use a rear leaf spring spreader to install the rear spring and that there was 3 types, a 7 leaf, an 8 leaf and a 10 leaf rear spring.

    • @incampbellsshoptoday2599

    Really coming along! If you convert to open drive, your beautiful '36 rear radius rods won't be up to the task of stabilizing the rear end and you'll need ladder bars. ($$). I recommend watching TH-cam user "Irontrap garage" had a great episode on shortening the closed driveshaft. I believe you have the skills and tools to do it and I saw that old Ford three speed laying there wanting to be used in a hotrod.

    Sadly soon all combustion cars and trucks including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Car washs will be forbidden too because they are climate killers, now they want to slow down all the gas station pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime. (BABVVEN & TEBBVEN laws)

    Grease isn't the problem, it's just that Chinese crap that speedway has been selling isn't measured in the same way the original parts were built, now if you buy the whole kit with axle and bars, they go together smooth

    Hey, I enjoyed your video, but I don’t even know who you are! I’m DrRick, an electronics engineer that loves old cars. If I’d kept the ones I had in the 70’s I’d be rich, 1/2 dozen old Corvettes, Jag XKE.’s, a dozen Austin Healey 3000’s, one Ferrari, Barracudas, Chevelle SS’s, AC Cobra, MGA’s MGB’s, MGC-GT. I could go on….. They were so cheap back then! The smart guys kept them, poor guys like me had to sell one to buy the next. I never had more then 2-3 at once. Back then they were inexpensive fun!

      Hi DrRick. I am Randy, a high school shop teacher that also loves old cars. I used to race stock cars but have switched over to Hotrods. I have too many projects on the go; the hotrod in the videos, a 64 Impala, a 46 Chev truck ratrod, a 37 chev body I haven't figured out what to do with yet. plus the High School drag racing cars, 63 Impala, 65 Skylark and chopped 94 Astro van with a 454 in it.
