    If you want to be scammed by them - buy from there, I have been scammed by this site, me and many people, and no one got their money back They take the money and when you say it's wrong with the delivery - fix it yourself Buy from there at your own risk! I'm warning people. The site is known - I don't write it because my comment is deleted automatically!! It's all a lie there. Keep it in mind! I used to build computers back in the days of win 95 era and mostly software issues was the sticking point but eventually got through it. very important to only use putty on laptops that came with putty from the factory as thermal pads will not be efficient enough. Besides that, it will be quite the task to figure out the correct thickness of pads to use, if the pads used are too thick, the heatsink will no longer make proper contact with the cpu/gpu.

      I have an older version of that Mechanics plunger. The thumb knob is a bit smaller and tends to screw off at importune moments. Another thing that I noticed is that it got smeared with flux because apparently the orange seal is not completely tight anymore on the industrial syringe that my flux came with. Easy enough to clean off with a paper towel with some IPA, so not an issue. They are lightweight and quite rigid; good quality. I've also bought one with a handle on the side, but the amount of control was disappointing. On top of that you have to adjust the bolt depth manually as the flux gets depleted. Nice idea, but does not work well in practice. When you grind up rosin, be sure to filter it, so that any remaining debris will not clog up your nozzle in the future.

    Looks like a fairly decent PSU The only _feature_ of any significance that is missing is that it doesn't seem to have '4-wire' (kelvin?) mode on each channel. (4-wire mode is quite useful for me to eliminate voltage droop on the cabling if the load is quite heavy). I'd like to see you perform a 'load test' on this PSU across the FULL output voltage range. Some PSUs don't do a very good job of regulation when the output is low voltage at max current! Also, I'd like to see you test how many taps there are on each channels transformer winding. My PSU uses 10VAC, 20VAC and 30VAC (nominal). The more taps it has, the less heat needs to be dissipated internally at the lower end of each winding. (Imagine setting it to 12VDC at the full 3A. It uses the 20VAC winding giving you 20 * 1.414 = 28V input (nominal) into the series regulator.. At the full 3A, this means the series regulator needs to dissipate the difference (28V - 12V = 16V) at 3A so it's wasting 48W as heat! More transformer taps -> less internal heat generation. (The _NEXT_ PSU I build will have winding taps every 5V)

    • @JFIXX1
      @JFIXX1 27 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Im guessing it would need a second rear pannel output to be able to put it in 4 wire kelvin mode but it doesnt have this. I have just purchased a DC load so at some point i will try and do a teardown and some load testing

    • @trevorvanbremen4718
      @trevorvanbremen4718 27 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@JFIXX1 I'm guessing that my own personal requirements for a PSU are a little 'tighter' than the more common (a.k.a. 'affordable') units. I required a clean (hence linear) PSU that could deliver quite a decent current (5 amps) at precise low voltages (below 2V) where the actual load could vary SIGNIFICANTLY within a very short time period. The closest commercial unit I could find (HP 6600 series) completely blew my budget , so I had to roll my own. Still, it'd be great if you to do a teardown and load-test so that OTHER people could better judge how good this supply is before buying one. Keep up the good work!

    For the T115 6-pin vs 7-pin: I just checked on my model and my right-side base holder does have a 6-pin female connector to connect to the 6-pin male connector of the T115 handle. I did have an issue with Aixun at first where they sent a different tip-cleaner than I ordered (I received the metal bristle thing instead of the brass wire with splash guard). It took a bit of back and forth with Aixun, and at first they sent the wrong part (the white plastic connector to join the two handle holders), but after I sent them pictures circling and pointing to what was missing they sent the right part. I'm pretty sure the problem is due to computer translation from English to Chinese.

    • @JFIXX1
      @JFIXX1 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thankyou that helps a lot ! So it was the station not the handle that was the issue ! I did suspect that but as you say sometimes the communication is a problem

  • @neverendingstudent
    @neverendingstudent หลายเดือนก่อน

    For the Aixun station: with the smallest handle (T115), unless I'm wrong and they do have a differently sized holder (and I could be wrong) it just doesn't 'dock' with the same feel as the other two handles due to how small and tapered the end is. You can still dock it to the holder, and as long as metal touches metal it can tell it is docked and go to low power mode, but as an alternate way (or it might be the primary way) to hold the T115 handle you can hang it from the little wand holder thingy. That's what the metal 'bulb' is there for further up on that handle, and why it is only on the T115 handle. On that electric screwdriver: I like that it is variably responsive just from an easy hand motion. Good and easy speed control is great to have. On TH-cam and when to release videos: if this is for personal hobby purposes, don't sweat it and just publish videos when you feel like it. That's where I am, my releases are random and infrequent, but I'm not looking to 'make it' on the platform. If you specifically want to 'grow the channel' and pursue a goal of, say, making money from the ad revenue or be in a position to find sponsors, then a set schedule as a baseline is best. Figure out what pace of videos you feel is sustainable for you, if reasonable to do so then have your 'release schedule' be a tad slower than that (specifically for the purpose of building up a backlog of 1 or 2 videos so you can still release on schedule even if you have a mental block or are sick or have family stuff do do). Weekly is a fairly common baseline for channels looking to grow (not saying you can't release videos more often if you want, but letting your audience know there consistently will be a video on X day of the week is a good reminder of 'oh, hey, it's day X, JFIXX will have a new video out'. Scheduling release at the same time of day is also good so your audience knows when to check in. Also, building a video backlog will leave you in a position of being under less pressure overall - feel really creative and make 3 or 4 videos in a week? Great, you're set for a while. Don't have the mental energy to make a video for 2 or 3 weeks? Your backlog has you covered and you can still release on schedule.

      I really appreciate your your feedback! You must be right about the Aixun solder station. I have received the new 115 handle that sent me and it's exactly the same as the the other one 😂 I am currently have it all in bits and I'm trying to modify it to work. I really like the idea of having a bank of videos ready to release I didn't think about that. I want to do youtube a just a hobby but it's also quite time consuming to create videos. I am currently just recoding on my phone and editing on my phone. I think once I get a proper setup it will speed up production. I'm looking to get an external pcie enclosure that can host an elgato 4k capture card and I can have all my inputs connected straight into OBS and record and stream from there. I would like to be able to live stream repairing things so I can get help from the community in learning. I feel the best way to learn for me is hands on and getting input from experienced people as well

      Thanks I also agree with you I have the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra and the camera and zoom is amazing and great quality. However while it's good for recording video etc for me it's not great for working on as ideally I want to have it looking top down so I can't see the screen. The microscope has a much bigger screen. Also I don't want to be interrupted with phone calls etc in the middle of doing a job. I could get a second dedicated phone perhaps but the cost of my phone is over £1000 so the microscope is a fraction of the price and it's also better for youtube eith the HDMI output for recording

    So, you were asking about equipment suggestions - as of the time of me finding this video you have already covered your microscope, so I'll skip that. First: for everything on your list, if you are willing to not need any specific model, keeping an eye on eBay is a GREAT way to pick up high-quality bench gear for cheap. It's how I got much of my equipment. Soldering iron: I used to use the Hakko FX888d and that worked for me, but Louis Rossmann made a compelling case that even knock-off new generation soldering stations (heating element in iron tip / cartridge system) are massively better than previous gen (like my referenced FX888d - uses a ceramic heating element and the soldering tip is a sheath you slide over the heater). I have since bought the Aixun T420D which is one of the higher-end Chinese JBC style clones (not cheap), I also use the Pinecil v2 as my field-portable iron and it works well for me (actually used it earlier today when visiting my parents: one of their cats had chewed through a power tool charger and I fixed it for them). The Pinecil (really, most things on the Pine store) is priced to make it very available - $26 + S&H. There is also a really interesting project going on that started on the EEVBlog forums: the AXXSolder project is a DIY JBC-style iron you can build yourself, the bill of materials is on their GitHub page. Hot Air station: I, like many others, use the Quick 861DW. There are other units out there, you can pick up an old Hakko on eBay for instance, but I like the interface and features. It has worked well and reliably for me. There are a bunch of clones out there for cheaper and will often just say '861DW' instead of 'Quick 861DW', be aware of potential quality issues if you get a clone (take it apart and look for bad solder joints basically). Flux/solder brands? There are so many fluxes out there that work fine. I use MG Chemicals 8341, as for solder I use Kester rosin-core 63/37 and that works fine for me. Power supply: I got a GW Instek GPD-3303S for I think around $140 on eBay, and it's been great for my primary bench supply, but in this case that is not a recommendation. There are SO MANY perfectly fine to great options in this space, I advise just browsing eBay for anything from HP / Agilent / Instek / Kikusui / any other quality brand. If you are willing to trade off some time/patience spent you can (cheaply) get an older, but perfectly functional unit that was made to VASTLY higher standards and quality compared to anything no-name new on Amazon or Aliexpress. Thermal camera: China mass produces a quite good 256x192 thermal sensor and many brands use it. I have the Hikmicro B20 and am happy with it, but many make a thermal camera now around that sensor, so I'd shop around, probably on Aliexpress and try to find reviews you trust (not on Aliexpress) to guide how you spend your money. Bench meter: similar advice as with the power supply: patience watching eBay. The 'gold standard' cross-section for amazing quality bench meter and reasonable cost is the venerable HP/Agilent 34401a. It is a 6 1/2 digit meter first introduced in 1991 iirc and you can get them now on eBay for sub-$400. I have 2, my first I got for $330 on eBay and the 2nd I grabbed when I saw it at a local industrial auction house (got it for just over $100). The most common user experience downside is the VFD display has a tendency to get a bit dim over the decades. They can be replaced, but it is an issue I wanted to mention. It is actually that issue that is the reason I am more comfortable on a day-to-day basis using the less powerful (5 1/2 digit) GW Instek 8255A (the screen is brighter and the individual display lights are wider on the VFD) - it was just another ebay find for a price I decided not to pass up. Oscilloscope: I do have a specific recommendation here: The Rigol DHO804. It is a new scope, Android OS based, 12-bit signal processing, touchscreen and very physically small and light. It is also hackable and there is a VERY large and active forum thread on EEVBlog working on this. Basically you can buy their low-end 804 and load different firmware to get better frequency range and other goodies. It also has a VESA mount so you can put it on a monitor arm (which I have done - I actually got the DHO914 because it looks sexy with the black case and has some other features I was looking at). Signal generator? Eh, if you think you'll need one. Same eBay advice, these are available for very cheap as they are reasonably simple devices. I got a fairly modern Owon brand for under $100. Oh, and some of the Rigol DHO series do have integrated arbitrary waveform generators, though the cost goes up. Misc stuff: we always seem to accumulate so many different test leads and probes. You need different test leads for different situations (needle probes, grabbers, kelvin-clips...) - I'd start out with an el-cheapo amazon/aliexpress kit to cover your basics, probably get one nice set of name-brand leads for your daily-driver (fluke / pomona / probemaster / hirschmann / mueller). I found a nice pomona test lead and probe kit (again, on eBay) for a good price that I grabbed. Then pick up various different leads / probes / adapters / heads as you come across a specific need. Nice stuff to have / other stuff: The Omnifixo. It's on my to-get list and I believe it to be the best-designed set of soldering helping-hands out there. Parallel non-marring spring jaws, magnetic swiveling arms, well thought out bit of kit. An electronic load. Let you test power supplies under load and make sure they work. Lots of models out there. For making TH-cam videos: I just use my phone camera: they have gotten really good over the years and I feel that a phone camera + a lav mic works just fine. I still haven't gotten a lav mic that works... shame on me... Stand/mount: I currently use a mix going back and forth between a tripod and a magic arm - they do work, but I am starting on a project to make the camera mount Adam Savage came up with, which I really think is the new gold standard for this situation: 3/4" Loc-Line adapted to be the arm for a camera holder on one end and a clamp on the other. Look up "Adam Savage's One Day Builds: Smartphone Camera Rig!" on TH-cam and you can see him making it. A bunch of different people have adapted this idea and made slight variations for themselves, also findable on TH-cam and other sites. Microphone: DJI is generally accepted as making an excellent lav mic, but they are expensive and there are tons of options out there. Capture card: don't have much advice here since I don't use mine much - I just got an el-cheapo no-name from Amazon for a single instance where I wanted to use one. Edit software: I rarely use it, but when I do I use Blender. That's just me though, and I was looking for something specifically that would work with my system since I run Linux and not Windows or Mac.

    Very nice, looks like a quality organizer. I know I spent what felt like forever looking through all sorts of desk organizers I could use for this purpose, but everything I came across meant for the purpose just didn't fit my needs well. Ended up getting a few cheap wire-basket organizers and one of them (in combination with some tall orange pill bottles) ended up working OK for me. I don't think I came across this product in my search however. I'm considering what you have now, might upgrade. It looks like (given the adjustable height of the trays) one option would be to clamp/bolt/screw the base plate to the underside of a desk, allowing us to swivel the tools away when we want to make use of that extra bit of space and not have the tool holder in the way. Also, I love seeing other people's electronics benches, thank you for making these videos and sharing your build-up process.
