Netatmo Presence Outdoor Camera SD Card Change

My Netatmo outdoor camera was reporting an error with its SD Card. I talk you through how to change the SD Card. Apologies for the "filmography", it's not the best but it shows how the card is changed. One thing I forgot to mention in the video is that once you have inserted the new SD Card and confirmed that it's working, you should apply a dab of Silicone Grease or similar over the SD Card an...

Making some adjustable height car ramps. This is the first one of two. So basically they'll be two of these, you drive the car on and park it at the top of the ramp. You can then lift the car further by using a cordless drill. The ramp inclines can then optionally be removed for side. Apologese for the odd angled shots.. I just took the video on my phone and uploaded directly from the phone wit...

    Do NOT buy any of the netatmo products that er for “outside uses”, it’s garbage and the most expensive you can get. I bought 3 of their camera’s with floodlight and a complete weather station . All together 1600.-! After the first rain. All camera’s stopped working. The rain goes in the top and you see it coming out of the camera again! For outside uses? The card that is in the camera doesn’t work anymore and so the camera stops working. You write to their customer “service”, their answer? “You have to buy a new card and some kind of lubricant. Ofcourse netatmo sells that stuff, because they know you have to buy that sooner or later. Now imagine you’re away for the weekend have the fake security feeling that your home is secure. But all the time nothing is recorded and you won’t get any warnings!! And even IF your camera and the card dried up it still won’t work! You gave to go home first, put the power off wait 1 minute and put it back on again! It won’t boot up by itself! The the weather outside module, Same problem, it stops working after some rain. So you write to the cutomer “service “ again. Their answer? “Put it in a sack of rice for a week”. The rest of the set? Well the rain and wind modules use so much power that every 2-3 weeks you have to climb up you ladder to change the batteries, because they will be empty! Their solution? Put it closer to your indoor module !! But it IS only 80 cm away from that!! Their products are way overpriced ( I now have 3 camera’s and a complete weather station for 580.-) that never stopped working one time, are still on their first batteries and never give any of the 50 error messages I get within apple home. So, don’t buy their crap.

    Don’t forget what Netatmo points out in their help section, ”try to take out the sd card and reinstall it”. I did and it solved the problem. Didn’t need to buy a new one. Which I have done anyways just to ve sure i have it handy in case the problem shows up again…..

    My netatmo Camera burnt out after 3 years , no light or night vision . Emailed the company in France and they made me pay 55.00 to ship it to them and then gave me a discount on a new one. I wish I never called , I could have just bought something else . Another brand would have been cheaper and just as good . By the way this took Months to resolve !!!!

    According to Netatmo, when putting in a new micro sd card you are supposed to protect it against moisture by using SuperLube Multi Purpose Synthetic Grease USDA Dielectric PTFE.

    • @Foot2DaFloor

      Yes that's right, you should apply the correct grease to seal off the sdcard from potential moisture ingress.

    • @Foot2DaFloor
      @Foot2DaFloor 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The compressors are Aspera NJ9226GK ones, these are 1HP output HBP (High Back Pressure) ones. At 3:22 you will see where I add oil in. I add in compressor oil into there at regular intervals, depending on how much I use the compressors. I was thinking of adding a clear tub that would stand vertically parallel to the compressors to act as indicator of oil level never got round to that either :-( Thanks for interest and kind comments +Christopher Persad

      Yes I know ! I do apologise I always planned to do a video with audio but just never get round to it. After 4 and half years of running they are a bit noisier than they were at first but still quieter than a standard compressor.

    It's silent alright ;-) Any chance we may actually HEAR what is sounds like? More importantly, how many CFMs does it put out?

    • @Foot2DaFloor
      @Foot2DaFloor 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      JohnnyJim J LOL ! It's obviously not totally silent, I think if I recall correctly I measured it being at 60dB at 1 metre. Where as a 3HP normal compressor is 95dB or so. With the db scale being logarithmic that's quite a big difference. I've been promising to make a video showing the actual sound of it for ages but just haven't got round to it as yet :-(

    • @johnnyjimj
      @johnnyjimj 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Foot2DaFloor I was aking because I got one of those old fridge compressors I recuperated, it's really quiet, but it's not pushing much air ;-) For round the shop use I'm now looking at getting an old v-twin that runs at low RPMs - my 5 gallon '3HP peak' compressor is just plain too noisy to use, can't stand it anymore ;-)

    • @Foot2DaFloor
      @Foot2DaFloor 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      JohnnyJim J You need high output high back pressure compressors. Most normal fridge motors are only 1/3rd HP or so. You need a freezer compressor ideally. I used two Aspera NJ9226GK compressors, which if I recall correctly are 1.5HP each. I also have a 3HP twin piston compressor plugged in series, I kick that in when I really need a lot of air and yes that is awfully noisy !

    Great video, I have an old oilless compressor and the motor was shot so I took it off the tank and put a fridge compressor on it. But before I hook it up I was told I needed to switch out the oil to regular compressor oil. Is that true and if so how would I go about it? Going to be used as a silent compressor for airbrushing. Any help would be appreciated.

    • @Foot2DaFloor
      @Foot2DaFloor 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry Stephen Staines missed your question somehow. Yes you can switch out the oil but as you will be using for air brushing make sure you add a filter to catch an oil being pushed out of the line. You can empty the old oil simply by tipping the compressor on it side and empty the oil out of the air outlet hole. Once again apologies for late reply.

    • @TheStanleyVillan
      @TheStanleyVillan 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, once the oil is out where does it go back in? Can I pour it in the air in port?

    • @Foot2DaFloor
      @Foot2DaFloor 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Stephen Staines If you move the video to 3:21 you will see I have pointed out the holes I use for filling the oil. These holes are normally the return pipe on the fridge/freezer piping. You could use air in hole at the front also but I suggest you get a filter put on that as I have.

    • @sagster
      @sagster 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Victor, sorry was that a question as to why I used two compressors ? If it is, then the answer is that each one is rated as pumping out just over 2CFM, so together they pump out out 4 or 4.5CFM.

    How sturdy and how much weight can it hold? I was thinking of building one cause im tired of taking my bumper off every time I put my car on ramps plus it would help my lowered mustang.

    • @Foot2DaFloor
      @Foot2DaFloor 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Project CG6 Sorry I've only just spotted your question. They are pretty darn sturdy, I've had some darn big cars on there. If I had to remake them I'd make them static and not adjustable height and I'd make the landing platform for the tyre somewhat longer. I think it's 30cm square, I'd make it twice as long and a slightly wider too.

    • @amscout1156
      @amscout1156 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The landing size is pretty important. If it is too small you run the risk of havng the car go off the side or over the front. I might weld myself a couple of these with my everlast. I really like the idea that the ramps can be removed for side access.

    I know this "post" is old. But how did you two connected "refrigerator compressor" together? And what type of voltage / amperage HZ and it gives? Can I connect this on a normal house hold? I constantly of 1.2 or 3 gallons with compressors 110-115 / 60HZ / 1-2 HP but I would make myself a 6-20 gallon tank with a dual compressor. Sory for my english, i'm french Canadian

    • @sagster
      @sagster 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry Etikadd, I totally missed your question somehow. My compressors are 240v 55-60Hz (UK household supply). There are two amp ratings for compressors. One is LRA (locked rotor amps), which is the current needed to get the compressor going. The other is either called FLA (Full Load Amps) or RLA (Running Load Amps), these refer to the current used once the compressors have got going. So what you need to do is ensure that the sum of the LRA of both compressors is less than the rated output of your socket, if you are going to wire the compressors in parallel with no delay start between them. If you delay start them then make sure your the sum of the FLA values doesn't exceed the rated output of your wall socket. Reason for the two amperage values is that these compressor draw a lot of current when they are switched on (LRA value) but once they get going they settle down (FLA/RLA value).

      In parallel but they could do with having a time delay circuit so they have a staggered start.
