1959 Wellborn Runabout Mercury 58A Outboard Part 2
มุมมอง 1449 ปีที่แล้ว
We've removed the windshield and hardware in order to begin the sanding process. The wood is in pretty good shape. There is a crack in the top layer of veneer on the starboard side towards the front of the bow, but I don't believe it is causing a structural issue, so I'm going to leave it as is. Where the varnish was still adhering to the plywood, once sanded away it reveals a yellowish colored...

This is a 1959 Wellborn Runabout, hull # 101. We plan to refinish the top, get the motor running and take it to the lake. The boat has been stored indoors so its in pretty good shape. I don't know much about wooden boats or outboard motors, so it will be a learning process. If you know anything about Wellborn boats or Merc 58A motors, please comment. I know the motor is missing the magneto/dist...

94 Jeep Wrangler 2.5L
มุมมอง 22K11 ปีที่แล้ว
My Jeep has 234,000 miles and the 2.5L engine went a couple of weeks ago. I don't know the history of the vehicle, because I bought it last summer and have only driven about a thousand miles. It ran well and suffered some abuse during that time. Judging from the damage, #1 piston broke followed by its connecting rod, which proceeded to punch a big hole in the block and tear the oil pan in two. ...

    All you have to do is remove the bottom bolt and leave the other two in tight on the windshield bracket. 👍

    Are all the 2.5 Jeeps this loud? My 94 2.5 Wrangler is the same way. Almost like a diesel sound.

    • @timh141
      @timh141 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think they're kind of loud to start with. I also have a 2.4L and it is a lot quieter. But at the time, this Jeep had some rusted through spots on the muffler. I had that replaced, but its still louder than it should be because of another exhaust leak closer to the engine...which I still need to fix.

      There is a hose on the firewall in the engine bay leading from the vent intake on the hood that get clogged. The water backs up and comes out under the dash. I cleaned mine out with a long screw driver and now more water.

    Hey Tim- When you put the new weather seal in, what did you use on the outside of he window to stretch the window seal and the adhere it to outside window frame?

    • @timh141
      @timh141 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      nothing, i just attached it to the window frame with screws. the only thing i replaced was the windshield frame to cowl rubber seal. I still have a water leak, around the half door uppers and also i've seen it drip from under the dash onto the tunnel, so maybe i need to take off the cowl vent and see what is going on in there.

    What size are the 2 small screws? Are you saying all 3 screws are t40?

    • @timh141
      @timh141 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Scott gresham the two smaller screws are t40. the bottom screw on that same bracket is t45.

    @scottgresham8552 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks buddy but I think you misunderstood I mean the bracket at the bottom that you let hang. You said the big one was a T45 what size are the 2 other ones the smaller ones?

    • @timh141
      @timh141 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Scott gresham On mine, the bottom bracket where it attaches to the window frame uses T40. I double checked.

    i didn't use a sealant there, however i did use some rtv (black) above the windshield at the leading edge of the soft top, that stopped rain from blowing by the channel when i was driving. I plan to take off the cowl vent and see if there is a leak source inside there but haven't gotten around to it. driver's side still getting wet

    4 Wheel Parts sells gasket and sealant as a package. We changed gasket only and still got leaks.....has anyone tried any epoxy base or water base sealant under the gasket and around the screw heads.......maybe it goes without saying we are NOT afraid of overkill.......and it has now become a mission ( obsession?? fixation?? ) to make this thing watertight for general driving in the Northwest Winter.

      Leigh Veidman They should, i have the half windows also. It wouldn't hurt to double check with either the manufacturer or vendor for compatibility, but they look the same to me.

    Hello, I wonder if you could assist me. I just bought my daughter a 94 Wrangler and there is a part missing and no one seems to know what it is. Unfortunately I cannot post a photo but if you stop your video at the :30 mark, there is a hose that goes into the side of the valve cover just forward of the throttle cable. What is that? Trying to get it all together before she comes home from Basic Training :)

      Rick Mann i found this online, i think it is pulling fresh air in to mix with crankcase vapors, prior to being burned. Also, jeepforum.com is a great place to ask questions if this doesn't answer it for you. Good luck! www.fixya.com/cars/t6825466-2002_jeep_wrangler_6_cylinder

    On a subsequent trip to the sand dunes, I lost oil pressure, I had to have it towed home and then discovered that the pick up tube had cracked completely in two. Since I was in there anyway, I replaced the oil pump also. Its still going strong, I've put probably another 10,000 miles on this engine. It uses a little oil, so its getting to the point of needing to be rebuilt.

    My repair seemed to fix the passenger side, but its still getting wet on the driver's side. I noticed some leaking where the soft top is attached to the top of the windshield. Not sure if this is above or below the metal channel.
