Regenerate PNW: The People Behind a Paradigm Shift
Learn about the amazing work leaders in the Pacific Northwest are doing to create a massive paradigm shift in agriculture and the food supply. These locally driven, regionally-focused efforts are helping growers convert to regenerative agriculture practices, repair local supply chains going into mills, processors and restaurants, and create a healthier, more resilient food supply.
This summer, more than 30 leaders representing organizations participated in the inaugural strategic planning program, like @SpokaneConservation, @carnationfarms3333, Happy Day Restaurants, Uhlorn Family Farms, Zenner Family Farms, @Palouseheritage, Ratcliff Premium Meats, Think Regeneration, @ensoiltv, @Tainio5471, Thread Fund, @charliesproducemedia5751, @pccnaturalmarkets, @cairnspringmills58, PNW Coop, @agriculturecapital8388, @snacktivistfoods496, @SavoryInstitute and many family farmers in the region.
Special thanks to the Spokane Conservation District for their ongoing support of real, practical change in the region.

Dr. James White: The Soil Health-Gut Health Connection
มุมมอง 33หลายเดือนก่อน
How is soil health connected to human health? It's a question we are just starting to truly understand. In this short video, learn why our focus on regenerative agricultural practices will translate into stronger human gut microbiomes with Dr. James White, a microbiologist researcher at Rutgers University. The lack of microbial diversity in our gut health has been connected to issues related to...
A Conversation with Dr. James White: A Look at the Rhizophagy Cycle
มุมมอง 4042 หลายเดือนก่อน
How do crops and plants receive nutrition in our agricultural ecosystems? As it turns out, there is an amazing world of microbiology living in symbiotic relationships with our plants called the rhizophagy cycle. In this cycle, microbes are communicating and working in harmony to help sustain all life on the planet. Thanks to the work of Dr. James White and his team who are leading the research ...

Will Travis speaks about their Dexter cattle at the Spence Farm on June 23, 2023, near Fairbury, Illinois. They choose the Dexter Cattle for beef and for nutrient cycling in their pastures. They run about 1 head per half acre, a bit more dense than prescribed, due to the smaller nature of the cattle, and the work they've put into their pastures. They seeded the cattle pastures 12 years ago, and...
On Location: Down to Earth 2023 | Marty on Sugars
มุมมอง 109ปีที่แล้ว
Marty has a simple way of explaining the idea of balanced soils to new farmers. He explains the difference between complex and simple sugars. To add some detail, technically, insects can be attracted to either and might go after your crop. But usually, they will suffer from indigestion and leave the plant. Here's a pretty good study published nearly 40 years ago that documented how sugars chang...

In an organically managed system, with no synthetic fertilizers, or in a wild system, what proportion of plant nutrition is taken up from endophytes, vs ion exchange with non-endophytic micorrhizal fungi and or rhizobacteria l

Our understanding is that this can change based on the environment. Researchers are seeing plants in drought environments adapt by changing how they are absorbing nutrients through root hairs vs. direct absorption.

Is it true that there is a higher bacterial uptake for grasses, and higher fungal ratio for trees?
