Practicing with the Morphagene. This is my first real patch I was able to achieve with this module. This is solely sound from the Morphagene. The sample used I recorded from my record player and personal record collection. Wish I could hear the natural crackle of the record but it is being hidden by the effects.
This is a generative piece using only one splice of a sample.
Modules used: Morphagene as voice, Monsoon and Mimeophon for effects, Quadrax for LFO, Pachinko and Black Seq are being used for clocks.
Thanks to my friend Jim @scienceroommusic he gave me the idea to split the signal of the Morphagene to go to the Mimeophon and to the Monsoon, then to modulate the freeze on the Monsoon. Amazing advice, loving the results! Thanks Jim!! Never would have thought of that.
Also want to say thanks to Will @willswitchcraft for reminding me how important it is to record the music direct into my Zoom recorder instead of through my old phone. 😊 So much better!

Extra Notes:
This original music is high pitched and fast so I used the morphagene varispeed to slow it down and lower the pitch. Dial is at about 3 o’clock in the purple zone. Loving the LFO on the morph. If you turn morph all the way right it will bring out pitch variations in the sound of higher octaves and fifths, with the pitch shift the speed will also get faster th higer the pitch so it will play more of the sample. With the morph voltage controlled it only brings that out at certain times which adds a nice variation of pitch and speed. Since it’s being clocked, when it is triggered it returns to the beginning of the sample which makes for a lot of variation and spread. The Mimeophon is keeping the samples moving and delayed, it is in pink mode so there is some overlap in the delay. The samples are slowed in the Morphagene in combo with using the pachinko rate so the Mimeophon picks up the tones and delays quite nicely. The Monsoon freeze kicking in at random brings some shimmer and long ends to the spread and delays. The two reverbs from the Monsoon and the Mimeophon together add some nice softness to the tones which Jim and I also discussed. Thumbs up to that. This really softened the whole piece which is lovely.
Of course as this is playing while I am writing this all these different patterns and tones have emerged. Probably because i knocked the case and something shifted. So sensitive. I didn’t set out for this to be generative but it was a natural happening from the patching. Really happy with my first round with the Morphagene.
