Yes @@lebojay takes a while to sort out what direction to go etc LOL I've had the XJC for 37 years, just the last 10 like this.. there are other options including some quite unique twin 4bbl carb setups and the manifolds sell for 600 to 800 the pair.. I've an XJS too, a 'stock' convertible, aren't they a great touring car.. I did 400K just last Sunday in mine.. hope you are getting to enjoy yours.

LOL. its is actually a genuine Leyland spare part that was homologated for the XJC Broadspeed program, this one was made up from two damaged original sets... rather than a downforce orientated spoiler, it was a drag Reduction device, a bit like a Kam tail and in wind tunnel tests, reduced drag by 4.7%. It was sold in limited numbers (sufficient to meet homologation minimums) through a few selected UK Leyland ST, Jaguar & MG, dealers.. all the info is in a factory brochure titled "Aerodynamic aids from Leyland", Part No. AKM3356.. The rear air dam, 3 piece, is {art No. STN 0092

Hi.. Why.. its a homage to the Broadspeed XJC's and is a Genuine Leyland part, complete with part number., sourced from two sets damaged in racing.. cast in rubber it is not a fiberglass or plastic repop.. Leyland Homologated these as a drag reduction device (minus 4.7% wind tunnel tested) for the V12 XJS racing program and to meet the homologation requirements, advertised the set of 3 pieces as part no. STN 0092 and included them in a parts brochure 'akm 3366' in Dec 1976, for sale through a limited number of dealers

If you don't know the cars much, you won't get it.

Cheers but what you likely haven't heard till now us one with a 20% capacity increase via boring & stroking, a more aggressive cam, head work, tubular headers, 6 dual throat throttle bodies etc.. once warmed ip, happily idles at 500.. when first started as that lope typical to a modified cam.. see other vids of it on this channel

It was a remapping test to take some over fueling out in the initial start up and then again from 3000 to 4500 rpm.. a great improvement and a good result with drivability, also testing if a new ICE 14V system had had a positive effect on the ignition.. I do not post hp numbers, pointless as there is so much variance in dyno's, setups and just general BS by so many

Appreciate the comment PW but though it's been a family vehicle since 1939, it was the skills of one particular pal, with input from a few others, that saw a sketch hanging on the garage wall and about 20 years of daydreaming, become a reality.. There is a better video on my channel

Thank you Yes indeed, a Great day, followed on from the initial XJC Muster at Echuca in 2015, year of the cat.. .. use those terms to find a couple of youtubes of over 30 XJC's.. The drop tops were mostly UK conversions by coachbuilders Avon and Lynx though locally, Wedding car hire companies built a few more here.. what a great ride, top down, for a Bride to be seen in.

@@coupster5464 I wonder if it really serves its purpose. But thinking about it, Porsches had a similar duck tail spoiler and I imagine the fins on the Jag leading to it might help channel the air flow for higher downforce preassure 🤔

Hi there @@tddk5461 My memory of some period material re the Broadspeed Dam was that it wasn't necessarily all about downforce.. but rather, drag.. the XJC like all S1 & 2 XK's, had pretty curvaceous rear quarters that pulled a long 'tail' of aero drag, low pressure.. the Dam seemingly introduced a Kamm effect, adding turbulence that negated that 'tail'.. I do remember one Leyland /Broadspeed historian, for lack of a better word, writing that in Wind tunnel testing it reduced the drag factor by near 4%.. I guess you'd have to know what initial number that parasitic loss was and what that meant in HP and or fuel to know how meaningful 4% was (fascinating though, that Dr. Kamm's aero work in this cut off tail or Kamm back, effect, date back to the 1920's & 30's)... I reckon you are also heading in the right direction re the side or leading edge sections of the Dam.. very similar to the rear dam on Series 1 RX7's

Thanks Jim.. and though its a '35, been in the family since 1939, my Dad's first truck.. was badly vandalized and part stripped whilst sitting for 30 plus years so this is our take on Rods I loved as a teen in the late 1960's

​@@coupster5464thanks for responding,seems we are a similar age.seems the ausy rod scene was well ahead of England in sixties though we've caught up big time in recent years.point of interest our mudguard laws are the same as yours but for the past twenty plus years a lot of people just ignore it and seem to be getting away with it .getting close to finishing my swan song 32roadster and gonna give it a go😊

Thanks Bob.. the 62 chevy colour isn't one I'm familiar with here 'down under' but yes, there are a few that are similar shades.. I nicked the idea from Edsel Ford's toured of a similar colour. Morris & Jag also used those tones but Edsel added the darker swage.. so went 4 shades darker for swage & chassis.. Just reading the magazines etc, seems like the green shaded pastels are getting quite popular

@@coupster5464 the old original paint colors from the fifties and sixties look much better in the newer base coat / clear coat format then they ever did when they were new cars .

G'day Robby.. not as in a specific set of part no's but.. I searched ebay and was able to get the inlet manifolds, to suit Webers on the V12. There are 40's & 45's, both taper down sharply (they are only 30 or so mm tall, to the Jaguar inlet port size of approx 34mm.. so there is some port work to be done, matching the two, opening up a tad.. I stayed with 40's on a street engine, wanting to keep air speed up with the relatively short tract length.. Jenvey now offer a cross ram set up with longer tracts but it uses 12 individual TB's ie extra linkage complexity.. Jenvey at the time (check their web page) offered a couple of different height TB's.. chose that which offered best clearance for 'standoff' over the filters.. .. Jenvey & most Weber outlets offer the linkage kits.. Their is any number of folk who sell the airhorns and a variety of gauze filters.. these ones were hand spun by a guy who built motorbike airhorns and they utilize a 3 layer gauze filtration, 3 layers of increasing fineness.

Appreciate the comment.. there is another vid on the channel that shows a bit more of the blower installation.. had planned for a 4-71 but too tall with carbs for road registration approval.. so this is a Weiand with a 1980's B&M transverse plenum & mikuni dual throat side draughts.. originally set up & sold as a hidden under bonnet system for a 351 Mustang back in the day...

Not carbs Robby.. with webers, air filters and sufficent standoff room over the front pair, there are clearance issues on a XJC V12.. see the other vid's on the channel, of the 7.3 Litre XJC in 'silk cut' type colours at Birdwood in 2018.. they ran 48mm webers and raised the whole centre section of the bonnet.. on mine, the induction is Weber manifold stubs then Jenvey (in the UK) EFI Throttle Bodies, with trumpets & filters.. this set up is near 10 years old now & I think Jenvey have refined their weber 'look-a-like' TB's even more since then.. management is via a Motec ECU
