Vortex: The Problematic Essences Of Reality
Gaspar Noe's latest film came out as a bit of a surprise for movie lovers around the world, maybe because of its different story and overall different genre and atmosphere compared to his previous movies, but how different the surface might be, he tries to explore most of the themes and contexts that he had already experimented with in his body of work up to now, both in story and form of Vortex. here we try to take a deeper look at those, both in Vortex and the rest of his filmography.

Crimes Of The Future: Existential Horror
มุมมอง 2862 ปีที่แล้ว
David Cronenberg has gone back to his roots by making another Body-Horror film that made so much anticipation among cinephiles because if you are a cinephile born before the 2000s you definitely have come across Cronenberg's unique body of work through your younger years, also besides the generic elements of the film Crimes Of The Future is another effort that Cronenberg makes towards bringing ...
The French Dispatch: Glowing Post-modernity
มุมมอง 16K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Wes Anderson is one of the most distinctive directors of the 21st century. In his latest film, he seems to be more radical than ever in emphasizing his unique style of filmmaking; so much that it may seem a bit frustrating and hard to relate to for some of the audience. In this video, we try to analyze one of the many aspects of Wes' unique filmmaking style, and hopefully, by doing so, help you...
A Hidden Life: A Journey To Infinite
มุมมอง 29K2 ปีที่แล้ว
After experimenting with his new style in his last couple of films, Malick has made a film that is unique in both thematic and formal aspects, but underneath all of this, what is really A Hidden Life about?

If I could come back to 38's I'd take all jews and people who was not for nazism and bring to my country, Brazil. Many died because of being jews or not for Hitler.

What a selfish idiot ...He had everything, a wife who adored him, a farm of his own which could provide for family and 3 gorgeous little angel girls to fulfill his life. He chose to abandon them, to inflict pain on his old mother and let himself killed. So many former german Nazi soldiers who did not die during or after the war(In trials), returned to their families...but his conviction and principles at 36...sentenced his family to despair, sadness, isolation, poverty and guilt...and 3 orphan girls who could have had a father to guide them while they journey thru life.

The French Dispatch has almost nothing to do with France. It's the adult Wes Anderson remembering the image if France in the mind of the young Wes Anderson as conjured by the writers of the New Yorker. There's the real France, how the writers interpreted this, the image in the mind of the young Wes Anderson, the remembrance of this image in the mind of the old Wes Anderson, the translation of this into film, and then the image the film conjures in your mind.

I guess from a point of view of a french person the things you mentioned can be understood, and as you said we should not forget that the whole perspective of the film is from a foreign director none the less an 'American' director

Thank you for this video -- extremely thoughtful analysis and beautifully done review about a film that you would probably agree does not lend itself to easy analysis. I was simply blown away by the French Dispatch from every perspective, though I can understand why many might not like it. Keep up the great work Film Rain!

@@filmrainn It's an amazing book it really sheds light on his thought and why he did what he did. It's playing a major roll in his full canonization as a saint. His letters are also very powerful and full of thoughts far beyond the average man seeking the face of God.

very interesting! thanks for sharing. I'm sure there are a lot more aspects to be discovered about Franz's existence and inner thoughts and feelings cause in the end this film is Malick's take on Franz and his journey. I'm definitely gonna read his letters, cause I have a thing for the whole aesthetic and the experience of the whole expressing oneself in a letter, cause simply when being written the letters are meant to be read only by the person who is meant to receive them so it can be very privet and very personal, like when I read ''François Truffaut Letters '' my whole perception and understanding of the french new wave and how everything was actually happening transformed, so I'm looking forward to reading Franz's letters

I love The French Dispatch. I was surprised how much I love it. I like most of Wes Anderson's movies but this one really touched me in a way none of the others did. I put it on the in the background sometimes while I do chores around the house. Its absolutely my favourite of his works. I find it absolutely beautiful and ultimately very soothing. I am shocked at your suggestion that people don't like it and that it's 'difficult' ....

    • @arcadianguitars3936

How long have you got? 😆. I think the trap people fall into is that any 'weird, quirky and at the same time stylish is called 'post-modern' which isn't right. It's a term borrowed from architecture. The move away from the modern. In philosophical terms it covers an extremely broad spectrum, but one of it's tenets is the questioning of the pasts narratives, not just in art, but everywhere. Wes Anderson is a great filmmaker but he's not a post-modernist, he's actually quite a traditional filmmaker with a great eye for aesthetics. I think he may borrow and be influenced by post-modern writers like Delillo or Pynchon but his themes are pretty standard modernist ideas. But still great. I really like his movies.

remarkable video and very well thought out and well put. the only thing that i could say is only a short thought i had while watching the video and i have no idea if it's on any level true or relatable to the movie but ill just share it as it came to me so that on the slim chance might be something worthy to think about: for each their own perspective but never truly connected but alas there is something deep that connects the lines which isn't only suffering. we are in sync as much as we are out of sync. we share the pain and the comfort that comes and goes. as real as things seems it will ultimately be a dream but as we go we will feel the presence of psyche and that comes both in reality and in dreams and the forms they take along the branches and roots we call life. as i right this i think that as we watch the suffering and the act of sharing it we or at least i feel that we as humans though never truly understanding or in sync at the same time we are watching and walking the same line but filtered by the prism of perspective and these line though separate come from the same source of light. but hey thats just my limited understanding and might not really be the case. again thanks for the fantastic video
