I used to fabricate thumb sucking appliances at a commercial lab.In my opinion the hay rake appliance should be totally discontinued.We usually had at least 4 sharpened prongs which would cause unnecessary pain and damage to the tongue.Very Cruel!!!

this sh*t gave me a "long face" - excessive vertical growth of the maxilla. Would rather prefer to be left alone as a kid by orthodontists, and then have a surgery in adulthood. My upper arch is pushed too much back into the mouth. Now i have both, recessed maxilla, retrogenia, and long face as a bonus from the appliances, and I'm trying to get a double jaw surgery, because i can't speak properly.

I suffer with TMJ disorder pain. I have clicking/popping/clinching/jaw pain& neck pain/ over bite& misalignment wit my jaw deviates up under to the right side. No Dentist I have visit hasn't bothered to help much
