when I retired from military me and my wife decided to stay here it's about same distance from my family in California and hers in ohio but we love it yes summer is brutal but still better than California or Ohio

Obesity wasn’t a problem when I was a kid 50 years ago. I’m not sure if this is true but I had a friends dad tell us when we was kids with all these people moving in from up north we are going to start seeing more and more bigger people! I honestly downtown remember have a fat kid in school with us! But we only had about 1000 kids total in rolled in all 12 grades….. fyi very good honest video…. We do have rolling hills with Beautiful Pine trees and large lakes, but it’s 2 hours plus to the city’s and our internet and TV service sucks for the most part lol my wife tried working from home but it didn’t last long.

I live in Texas and can confirm everything said here. The heat is terrible, the traffic sucks, the scenery leaves much to be desired and, while they don’t have an income tax, they tax the hell out of almost everything else. I live in hill country now because I couldn’t stand the dullness of the scenery everywhere else. It’s not much like the ozarks where I grew up but it’s okay. Otherwise, the people are great, the cost of living is low, there’s lots of decent jobs and there’s plenty to do for fun.

We Natives, have no respect for out of staters…just remember that when you move here, it is against our wishes, sorry!

Yo, I was born and raised in Texas! ANYWHERE I live in Texas, it's home to me. Doesn't matter if it's in West West Texas, South Texas or North North Texas. I stay the Hell out of East Texas, those people have issues! Texas is kicking like Bruce Lee did! Texas is off the HOOK! BUT, I was born and raised in Texas, so it may not be for you. There are a lot of things you can do in Texas! Texas has three Amusement Parks, one in Houston, Arlington and the other in San Antonio! Texas property taxes didn't get HIGH until ALL of these Californians moved to Texas! Texas use to be cheap cheap to live in. No matter where you lived, apartment, condo or house, it use to be cheap or very very reasonable! Like I stated, until these Californians moved here and our State government sold us Texans out to the lowest bidder! They didn't even get enough to buy the butter to pop the popcorn with, that's how cheap these State Government officials sold out EVERYONE in Texas. They jacked EVERYONE'S house appraisal up! Apartment's are ridiculous now! You use to have a little money leftover after paying rent in 2020! Now, you're trying to borrow money to make rent payments! Same apartment or house, just prices jumped from $750 two bedrooms, two baths, living, dining and kitchen, to $1750! Where in the Hell did that extra $1000 come from? It's the same apartment, they didn't come in and line the inside with gold, silver or platinum! It's the same old apartment which is detirating! Yeah, there's a lot going on in the State of Texas that is upsetting a lot of Texans and it's not just me! I remembering Renting a 4 bedroom house out in Austin, TX in the 90's for $750. That same 4 bedroom home is still there being rented out BUT, for $3200, and it's haunted! My brother has a home three doors down from that house we use to rent. He said people move in and two weeks later, they move out! I did mentioned it was haunted! Those ghost aren't going nowhere! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Texas doesn't put up with criminals. They have the strictest prison in the country. So I'm thinking it's not good to him because of those reasons. It's better in Texas because it's safer.

My bones no longer hurt from the cold, so I'm never going back. Be warned, don't come here with no foolishness. People don't suffer fools well here. One more thing, if moving to DFW, don't expect cheap housing. To buy a house in the Dallas area and mid-cities, start at $300k and up. If you are not looking for anything more than 1200 sq ft.

I'm one of the Texans that got here as fast as I could. I was 19, I'm 63 now. I don't want to be anywhere else. But it sure isn't for everyone by any means. This fellow tells it like it is. Oh, he's right about open carry in Texas. Heck, I do. And a big firearm too. With lots of ammo. And We ain't gonna change for anyone down here!

Don't forget Texas has hundreds of small rural towns with populations around 3000-5000 residents. Many of these towns are virtually crime free . God bless the great state of Texas.
