Grate video 📹 mr valtra man n oul boss him self to working 💪 away like all the oul lads around country on farm s like your fine shed to kind regards from Mr die hard north wexford man 👨 😀
👍
Great to see shed at different stages ...what % of cows need help ?
Seeing extra ones needing help this year for some reason usually about 10% but more so far this year
Beautiful calf!
She is a fine calf when she up and going
You have very quiet cows. Your shed in a great job. Your some handy man.
Have a few a bit iffy you can never trust them
Great video Graham watching your father there you would know he’s done that many’s many’s a time 👌
Seen a good few over the years
Great video Graham, the "Boss man" showing the experience he has gained through the years.
👍💯
Farming always throws a difficult situation. It’s not easy
Every day is different
Where do you get your steel supplies from?
Tom McDonald in Camolin sound man to deal with
Great looking stock ! If you don’t mind me asking how much a foot do the gates work out at
Steel is coming in at €9 per foot but the steel is 3mm no comparison to off shelf gates
Lucky it wasn't a bull calf your father is some Man pulling a calf
Can be more difficult
Your father is still flying it. If he can calf a heifer like that, no fear of him.
Ya sure is first to get stuck in
Always a bit of a worring when they get stuck at the hips great releif when they come out . The shed will be a great job when finished you are doing a fine job of it love the video
Ya it sure is you can see them die in front of you if really caught on hips
How much are the tepari cattle crushes? is there much difference in price between the air ad manual? Thanks
I don’t know price difference between air and manual and as regards to price there are so many variations of the crush you’d be aswell to ring them up and get the correct price
Te Pari crush, Tama (means young male in Moari) on the vest. Anybody would think you want to immigrate to NZ! 😆You'd show us a thing or two about beef farming anyway Graham!!👍
Should have traveled over when I was younger, will get there some day
@@Kavanaghfarming If you're coming to Canterbury no need to worry about accomodation.👍
Fine Shed Graham
👍
Might be wise to have the posts for calving pens as removable....easier for cleaning out again, backing in machinery for parking in the dry etc
Ya they will be sleeved I didn’t say they will be removable
What age do you separate bull calves from heifer calves?
Mostly at weaning 8/9 months can get caught out though
hoping to have cattle in it this winter?
Ah ya will have to the way the straw job is this year
Hi lad that was a great job with your new shad and the best of luck with your cow calfing to and them is class limousines cow's and calf lad 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
👍
Did you get the number for the comfort mats ?
Ya I got the number they are expensive but I’ve been talking to a few lads who are not getting on with them with cows going down on them and losing them 1 every year so don’t know which way to go
@@Kavanaghfarming
It’s great to see farming up close. Very informative. Love watching those little calves!
Good to hear from Scotland
Great video Graham, that will be some bull when he matures. Shed is coming along nicely.
👍

The shed is coming along nicely. I’m sure you’ll be glad when it’s all done

What size is the shed
7 span 50ft
It's more than 50 foot
@@EdwardBrady-ls6up 50 foot deep
@@matthewryan8169that will hold some slurry so.
@@EdwardBrady-ls6up the lie back area isn’t suspended over the tank
Sickner when you loose a calf like that. What's the name of that young bull at the end? I breed limousin bulls myself, so always interested.
Grageford Tam were looking at her on cameras unlucky i quess
@@Kavanaghfarming 👍
Great video very good looking stock
Thanks lad
Turning into a real nice shed Graham. Tidy work. Calves look the business too
Cheers lad
Always lovely to see the calves
Ya it’s good the start of the year
Good video as always Graham. I take it the shed will not house fattening cattle?
Will be for cows over winter and fatteners when cows go out
@@Kavanaghfarming very good, if budget allows….it was the best thing we did on our new shed two years ago but we fitted sliding doors above the precast wall at the back of pens. Meaning we could control ventilation much better whether it be stopping the rain that u pointed out that can come in thru spaced sheeting or fully opening up shed during summer when fattening cattle are in.
Well Graham, new watcher; tell us a bit about the farm, how many cows, how many acres, calving time of year, grass or cereals, what ration do you feed & what age for finishing period & slaughter ages?
Will be going into a lot of your questions in the coming videos
Great video Graham nice calves 👌
👍
great video lad 👍
👍
When will the 400 kg cattle be factory ready?
Those heifers try to bring them to 640+ be approx 5 mths
@@Kavanaghfarming Thanks for that ....about 1. 5 kg weight gain per day....great job.
What AI are you using
Calves are after our own bull
All trace bolus 6/8 weeks before calving great job for mineral deficiencies.
Thanks for reply
Hi kad the best of luck with them calfing and them was class cow's and calf that did calf for you and them is class limousines bull calf you have outside yet 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
👍
Great cows an calves all contenal calves when born should get a shot of selenium we doing it on advice of vet sorts out legs like that helps sucking white muscle disease super job and not expensive
I’ve heard of that may look into it
Hi there Graham we had a calf that was exactly the same as yours and he came right by himself but it took him some time to get there the vet said it was because of the way he had been lying inside the cow my friend so its really nothing to worry about mate i hope this helps you graham take care of yourself and God bless you all always and forever and ever Brian and Florence
Great stock Graham
👍
Physio works on the calves front legs when they are bowed like that. Put your left hand on the calf's knee and your right hand under the calf's hoof. Pull gently forward then and hold for a few seconds. Repeat for a few days. Has worked for me in the past.
I’d say it would help alright
@@Kavanaghfarming 👍
I had one this year like that as well but mine was worse than your calf. Vet told me it was the way calf was presented in the cow when calving. Wee bit of stretching it for a few days.
👍
Cracking job as always
Thanks paddy
Did u use a jack on that calf with the bow legs ?
No jack I’d be blaming that if used
Nice to see the calves coming the start of the cycle again .the weanlinfgs look great really good good weights .love the video
Starting off again and nice to see calves in the ground again
Lovely video graham Dont forget if you can do a diet feeder one when stock in
Ya will do might be doing a few different things feed wise this year
1st
👍
Hey Graham, we changed out the feed barriers last week in the slatted shed. We installed condon slanted bar barriers and very happy with the quality. They are higher than the old barriers that were done 30 years ago. Changed because we are feeding more round bales and the cattle were pulling in the silage and this new barrier would help stop this. Use the comfort slats from easy fix on some of the slats they are in Ballinasloe and cattle stay very clean and don’t slip but they are wearing down a bit at the barrier so replace the strip here last year 2023. Just for information Good luck
Thanks Kenny for that info👍
At 8m are the uprights a little light not gettin at ya Graham but with no internal uprights.Thats High. It's a fine job lad.
The pillars are ipe 200 they are a lighter than the grant sheds but the specs are over kill on those sheds as far as I con see The amount of old hay sheds that were built with 6x3 and 7 x3 1/2 with no diagonal braces or walls on open sites and are still standing. I’ve seen wider sheds using the same specs steel and withstand a snow loading along with winds By using deep knee braces and gussets along with stiffeners at stress points make all the difference
Yea i agree with you there Graham the grant sheds are over engineered speaking from experience a do it yourself sheds are way cheaper now that you've got the building bug another shed will be slaped up up at the back of that one I'm sure I'll give you 2 years.@Grahamkavanaghfarming
For ventilation push the bottom of your back side sheets out 3 inches. And then a raised ridge and you will have no dam straw
Ya Paul thinking of that idea aswell but I’ll push it out about 8inch
The front and back mowers are a great job we bought two samasz mowers this year .
Ya a great job for covering ground we don’t have the ground to justify it but saves so much time so it’s a no brainier
