So so good...even after almost 40 years. Timeless. In general 1985 was the best season of the show incl. the cast. Of course the storylines were a little bit too much in some peoples opinion, but the show could afford it. Lots of glamorous moments, accombined by a beautiful OST, different versions of the best GL theme ever, which made the show even more special at that time since it was exclusively composed. My absolute favourites surrounded the Kyle and Reva storylines which also applies in that scene. Nevertheless in the end it might also be a question of who was the perfect match for Reva or Kim Zimmer, also from a acting point of view. For me clear as day...Kyle/Larkin Malloy was the one ! I really hope someday additional stuff will surface at YT, since there are so much treasures barried from that storyline....

Cool to see this all these years later....and the music when Reva runs away from the church is Barbra Streisand's version of "Somewhere" which they also used during Reva's suicide attempt.

I remember watching the climax of this episode with my grandmother on Italian TV, a couple of years after it aired in the US as there always was a delay for some reason. Must have been 1988, I was about 7. First time I had heard the phrase "hypnotic trance"

I love these videos from Kyle and Reva! About two years ago all the old Guiding Light episodes from 1985/1986 could be seen on TH-cam, but unfortunately I can't find them anymore. Does anyone have any advice on where to find them?

Awful storyline, one of many from this very lackluster period. Insulting really; Maeve's actions, I mean was this their idea of a strong businesswoman? Actors made the most of this trite, rehashed material, but could only do so much. Just so convoluted, even by soap standards. This period saw a revolving door of writers, which resulted in a revolving door of both characters and storylines that went nowhere. It's no wonder at this time Soap Opera Digest did an article entitled "What's Wrong with Guiding Light?" And it was to get much worse before it got better with that craptacular Paul Velere murder mystery.

From that time until the end of they kept rerunning Josh and reva and ruined the show

I loved this show I used to watch it with my friends.

Kyle and Claire played a married couple on All My Children.

Reva and Kyle made a good onscreen couple.

Reva and Josh were a super couple for 30 years.

Reva was so beautiful. Such a dynamic, fiery spirit! She was my favorite female character. I loved her with Joshua ♥️

1986 was an absolutely awful, AWFUL year for the show, with its convoluted storylines and revolving door of characters. It was just unwatchable and nonsensical. Ironically enough, that same year proved to be top-notch for As The World Turns, what with the intro of the Snyders, Kim and Bob's later-in-life pregnancy, the Doug Cummings storyline and the Tad Channing murder. Plus, very notable was the way they were able to blend the less seasoned characters like Lucinda/Lily Walsh and the Snyders with long time regulars like the Hugheses, Stewarts and John Dixon. Also noteworthy was its having regular, working class characters like Steve and Betsy, which at this point was an anomaly in soap world. But Guiding Light was at this time just a bad General Hospital clone with forgettable and even embarassing storylines, and it was no surprise why so many of its top actors (Vincent Irizarry, Judi Evans, Jordan Clark) abandoned ship! Oh, and that first Dinah and that cherubic Dorie character, just the pits!

The Reva character never made sense to me.

I saw Patricia Barry on an old episode of The Twilight Zone! I don't remember the title of the episode, but in it, a man really wants her to fall in love with him so he gives her a "love potion." But then she loves him a little too much. She was great in it!

Never wanted Reva with anyone except Josh!

I just never bought into the Reva-Kyle romance. I'm sure Larkin Malloy was a big get for the show after his Edge of Night role but It just seemed forced by the writers and producers. The Reva/Josh chemistry was real. Fletcher had way more chemistry with Reva than Kyle IMO. They should have paired them.

I remember one of my favorite scenes was when Reva was mopping the floor at Cedars and Dr. Claire Ramsey was so condescending and mean to her telling her to get to work.

I loved the music @5:18 during this story line when Reva was trying to make a come back and making an honest living working at Cedars mopping floors and anything that needed to be done. This is when I really fell in love with the character.

I have many videos from years ago of the tapings I recorded 😁 I'm so tempted to pull some and rewatch.

Cain was one of the saddest tragedies on Guiding Light. I wish that there could have been a happier ending for him.

Kyle loved Reva more than Josh did. Don't get me wrong, I love Josh and Reva, but I'm wondering if Kyle stuck around would I still love Josh and Reva together. Kyle was always Reva's biggest supporter. Never heard him call her trailer trash (like Josh did) or throw in her face about her letting a man touch her for a piece of pie (like Josh did) I wish they would have brought Kyle back because that would have made a great love triangle because Reva really loved Kyle and I guess she really loved Josh too. I mean so what if Kyle kidnapped a baby...that's just a small misdemeanor in Soap Opera World.

Even after Maeve did this they still made Kyle the bad guy in this whole exit storyline for Kyle. It never made sense that Kyle was the villan because he called social services about Ben. Maeve knew from the beginning that Kyle loved Reva and only married Maeve because of the baby.

OMG, this is great. Finally, understand how Fletcher/Claire fit into this episode. But, I died laughing when Claire got thrown off the bridge. Lol! Then, Kyle diving to save her. Almost had tears from laughter.

Agreed, Maeve married Kyle knowing he was in love with Reva. But, during their marriage Kyle was talking out of both sides of his mouth. Kyle was confessing his love/devotion for his wife but secretly keeping tabs on Reva. The man had a pic of his former lover in his desk drawer for goodness sake. Maeve asked Kyle if he wanted to go back to Reva after the Laura reveal and although he didn't respond with words his actions seemed to indicate he didn't. Don't misunderstand me, I loved K/R but I do understand Maeve's reaction given Kyle not being forthright abt his feelings for Reva.

I love how Reva throws the brush @3:15 - and how about Kyle threatening to knock the door down :)
