Great, just great. And, of course at young NHØP on bass. He must have spent most of his teenage years at Montmartre!
Venuti and Grapelli had nothing on this guy.
Love it
Pure cinema, magnificent camerawork. Powell, tho well tempered, suicidally virtuoso. Unfortunately 'Round About' 7:00 the whole thing becomes suitable case for treatment
great upload, wish only the 2nd trek was audiable...
Opening song is; Anthropology, followed by Round Midnight.
このperformansでのBudはかなり体調が良いみたいですね。この時期にしては。
Amazing!!!
The inventor of electric violin!
Stuff Smith is amazing!
It was a Wednesday - the day before the greatest event in my life.
uuuuuhhhh! the master!!
NHOP!! that solo was amazing !

Luciano invernizzi, I was there❤
Increíble
round midnite seems to be spoiled by some sort of warbling in the sdtrck?
To think that NHOP is 15 here...Kinda depressing but also really inspiring
Man I think I'm going to have to add My Blue heaven to my repertoire
Bud Powell lived in Copenhagen for a while. At the time of this take bassist Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen was just 15 ys old, to turn 16 on May 27th. Btw the drummer's first name is Jørn (Elniff).
So stunning good.
Special genius in his phrasing
14:00... "garota de Ipanema" de Tom Jobim ❤
In an era of jazz greats, Bud was a giant.
Łuķsus
It's great to see Stuff swing really hard. The finest jazz Violin player of his,or indeed any, generation. Thanks for posting this.
Alex Riel on Drums
Masterbassist Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen (NHOP) on bass, in his very early years
NHØP is 19 years old here!!!
2:38 lol cameraman
Black violin brought me here!!!! Yay!!!
oh my gosh, where did you find this. the guy's awesome. so hard to find footage of the early violin jazz stars.! DG
11:44 for the weirdest audio glitch... every other moment for the one and only STUFF
There's another one at 14:16
And 16:25
For me, Stuff Smith is THE only musician that makes violin swing. I don't consider violin a jazz instrument but Stuff is a happy exception.
Right but I'd add the great Eddie South
Stephane didn’t Swing???? He invented swing and jazz violin! Discovered Stuff today so looked him up! Because his approach is so different! So aggressive! I love it!!
@@skygorider Not true, Grappelli didn't invent jazz violin !!! Stuff Smith, Joe Venuti and Eddie South did.
@@skygorider You've just discovered a master like Stuff Smith, give it a bit of time and listen to his recordings. Swing is such an individual conception, what swings to me may not swing to you or aunt Martha.
Won't be another like Bud for at least 100 more years.
there will never be another bud powell.
Lots of pianists can play like that. He was the original tho.
@@clintjones9848 Once you've had the original, there is no other
Dude!Such a precious footage.Thank You!
Wow!

I'm here cause' of the "round midnight" movie.
