In my area, thrift-store donated clothes are NOT washed whatsoever. They throw away the worst stuff and put the rest right on the sales floor. This is why thrift stores smell like acres of unwashed clothes when you walk in the door. That's exactly what it is: unwashed clothes. Locally they don't also do not clean any hard goods merchandise like dishes, electronics, whatever. It's all as-donated. PA cleanliness laws may be stricter. Anyway this is why you should wash anything you get from a thrift store. Wipe down hard goods with Lysol wipes. Wash the dishes. Etc. Personally I never buy anything that touches food. It's just not worth the risk of meth lab residue or who knows what.

I remember that Trump incident. It made every news show at the time. Kmart always sucked and the thrift store is probably a huge improvement for the local shoppers. I've bought plastic bags in bulk ever since the ban... I will not comply!

When I lived in the area in 2007, it was actually a Stop & Shop, which I believe is also owned by Giant, but I really don’t remember. when I moved back in the area in 2018, it had changed to Shoprite. For a while, they had the dual vestibules from Stop & Shop, until they expanded the self check out. They redesigned the entrance vestibule recently

I live in Manville Borough, NJ. I went by this closed store about a week and a half ago. The one on Easton Avenue is a total dump. Dark, outdated, dismal AND very expensive. 👎 I shop at either Aldi in Watchung, the Lidl in North Brunswick or Wally World in Manville. Merry Christmas and a Happy 2025 to you! 🎁🦌⛄❄️🎄🎅

The Stop&Shop on Easton Ave. is much better. This location was essentially irrelevant. This Stop & Shop was actually the site of a ShopRite at one point.

That McDonald’s was open in 1976 and went there many of times before Manahawkin turned in to a city town and all the great memories of my childhood are disappearing now it was much better in the 80s

Over the course of the last 20ish years or so it feels like businesses in Stratford have had a very difficult time surviving. Between the shopping center on Warwick Rd which is now gone (Incollingo's was the place to go in the day) and this particular area of Stratford (Berlin Rd, White Horse Pike by the Bradlees) its crazy

My dad's cousin worked for SouthWestern Bell in DFW in the 70's, 80's and early 90's as a technician before he retired and bought his first service van when they retired it and built it into a camper van.

Hello, I’m a former worker of that stop and shop after 6 years. The reason why it closed was bc not only it was underperforming, but corporate got greedy and raised the prices on everything after the pandemic and we lost a lot of business that way. The same people who made A&P go bankrupt. Also, former store manager there had multiple complaints. No joke!

Thanks for the cool share. My grandpa worked for Southwestern Bell for a very long time. We still have some of the old rotary phones he was able to collect/salvage through the years. He passed in the 90's after 30 some-odd years in the business. Was a lineman for a while, then did service calls at peoples homes.
