UPDATED VERSION: Updated Video for Flax 1.7: Updated Workflow Added Sample Repository and Demonstration for the Video. In this video, I show how you can compile the Flax Engine yourself, for example, to activate a feature like Large Worlds. Flax Engine by default uses 32-bit precision (single precision, float type) to represent object coordinates in the world. This gives enough quality for most...

The Wasching Machine Performance Test #FLAX VS #UNITY #Physics Rigidbodys
มุมมอง 849ปีที่แล้ว
As requested, a test with All cubes always colliding. The Walls are 5 Times deep er as the cubes. But at a certain cube count they glitch through. These cubes are counted as leaked cube. The numbers after the Fps are Total Spawned / Cubes in the Maschine. The Maschine has a invisible lid. The videos are pretty boring, but maybe some people will be interested. I plan to test more engines. Do you...
Static Performance Test #FLAX VS #UNITY #Physics Rigidbodys
มุมมอง 2.9Kปีที่แล้ว
REUPLOAD: Updated Video. There was an issue in Unity where I forgot that Untiy's default Physics update is set to 50 UPS (updates per second). Flax on the other hand uses 60UPS. I set unity now also to 60UPS. Due to a rendering issue, I was forced to remove the intro. I was curious about the performance of the engines. I want to create tests to test specific scenarios. The videos are pretty bor...

Trying Flax Engine for the first time, after over 10 years of Unity
มุมมอง 10Kปีที่แล้ว
After a decade of mastering Unity, "I" "decided" to dive into the world of Flax Engine. Join me on this journey as I explore the ins and outs of Flax. Flax Engine has for me the best feature set to become my next goto engine. 🎮 What's Inside: A first look at Flax Engine's interface and tools. Direct comparisons between Unity and Flax: what's familiar, what's different, and what's exciting. My p...
Thank you so much for this! More please! Broo you even did a github for it <3 Legendary stuff
You could also make a large cube that surrounds smaller objects, and use it to detect raycasts.
good vid
thanks for this video you're amazing! only your channel logo sucks (dragon and sixes are related to satan and evil if you didnt know)
Klasse Video, danke!
Anyone knows if the sphere cast is also expensive in unity?
I wasted 5 years of my life learning unity. I always though stuff breaking was my fault, eventually I just gave up. I should sue the crap out of them. Gonna try again with Flax.
? <> ? Wher is flax and wher is unity? wtf
Yes
Flax on the left
0:40 - instructions unclear, I was defeated by the Huns
Please keep making videos this is some of the best flax content out there!
I think it would be interesting to see how stride would perform against these two engines...
Stride would crash 7 times before you could even get the test running.
Thank you!
Great video! This is the biggest problem with the Flax engine - the lack of tutorials. When you compare the number of Unity tutorials or even Godot tutorials the difference is huge.
❣️ Promo-SM
Thanks! I use this.
Interesting information but they do not have anything like Unreal Marketplace or FAB which provides a ton of models and textures, tools to make your life easier, and a ton of people teaching the engine.
Can you make visual scripting tutorials ?
Thanks for this, very helpful! :3
Helpful.
Great, thanks. Waiting for more tutorials!
MASSIVE EULA UPDATE: flaxengine.com/blog/flax-1-7-released/
Thanks for the update! I think a cool video idea would be showcasing how you can report issues and get them fixed more easily with Flax. More bugs reports and suggestions are important for the future like always.
Hmm .. maybe, i mean i do not know what to say :D it would be pretty short... maybe as short :D Bug found? Here report it? Want it fix faster? Provider better information! Make a video, make a repo project ... yes i think das video would be very quick xD
Something to point out is that the floating point precision danger threshold is the same regardless of if you’re in Unity, Flax, or Unreal. Unity uses meters as its default unit, while Flax and UE use centimeters. This means that Unity needs precision down to the .xx, the hundredths place, to get the same centimeter-precise results that Flax and UE get at 1s place. So Unity does not get a 100x boost in precision. 21_000.precisionError (21000 accurate, after the decimal point inaccurate) is still an issue for Unity, because it’s only precise to the meter, so things can bounce around up to ~1/2 a meter.
Hello sir, could u please make more tutorials on terrain and optimization? jsut the basicsc then we as students can explore on the idea u know? thank you.
I've only been with Flax for 1.5 months. I haven't had much experience with optimization measures yet. So unfortunately I can't say much about it yet. Just like the terrain itself. I think creating a simple terrain is easy. But there is the possibility of loading and unloading the terrain chunks using a script. But I haven't done anything in that area yet. So maybe sometimes i will make some, but idk when.
That looks .... familiar?
Yes, this is an updated version of the old Video. Now with a Demonstration and Sample Project in Github. And the Workflow is better, in terms of Building the Engine. EDIT: I will always try to update my tutorials. So there will be some known topics come. For example, creating a plugin Project is also outdated. I will redo this at some time too. But Transforms is up-to-date so I only changed the tile version. I hate outdated tutorials... so I try to be better. But, of course, new content will also come.
@@final-factory Nice job dude i wish you and flax get popular so people USE the correct tool to make games ❤️
test unigine pls
I have to learn the engine a bit so that I don't miss anything obvious, otherwise it would be unfair. Maybe I'll do that sometime. But I'm working on something else right now. But I wrote it down!

Ded youtube bitrate compression

Test Unigine please

0:22 Having tried the C# version of Godot, it's really rough. Almost enough to make me go back to Unity. Almost.
The reason i did not try Godot any further was the missing C# Android support and pretty much the workflow i did not like. But after nearly 1,5 Months with Flax, I can say: that Flax's C# Support is Amazing. As well as that Seamless C++/C#. I already wrote C++ classes and inherited from them in C#. Really nice. And because of Flax's Development Speed, I am pretty sure that they will support .NET 8 ASAP if it comes out.
Hey bro , iam waiting for other tutorials and I'm a secondary school student so i don't have much time to learn about flax , people like you really hepls to learn more and faster so i really appreciate your work ❤, waiting for more videos
Flax is awesome. I hope they focus on 2D at some point too 😊 ... also, I hope it will go full open source like blender, founded by donations without any fees attached 😊
That would be really cool, but I don't think it'll happen that way. Well, if I had put so much energy into Flax... I don't know if I could just "give it away"... it's a tough step. Flax has given an immense EULA update that greatly supports developers. I'm sure as the community grows, 2D and mobile will come into focus more. Both are currently possible, of course. But it has fewer built-in tools for this topic.
Next video on Stride Engine
I have little experience with Stride. It would be unfair if I overlooked important settings and made comparisons like that :D Maybe we'll see in the future... but please don't wait for it ^^
@@final-factory thanks for reply. I understand. Flax 1.7 is great.
also unity and flax both use PhysX. so this is kinda pointless.
AFAIK Unity still uses 4.1, Flax 5.1
why the paddle in the unity washing machine not have a collider? kinda need them to be doing the same test for this to prove anything.
That is the point. The collider is there. If you look at the test in the first few seconds, they will also be pushed away.
oh my apologies. thats wild that it breaks like that.@@final-factory
Nice!!
Man pls include the engine names to comparison screens next time. Ppl dont know what side is for what engine...
As showed right before the test starts, left flax, right unity. But if I do another one I will include it on the score screen... ^^
He literally splits the screen and says flax on the left unity on the right 😊
i gussie flax win this one
Endlich neues Video❤️
My apologies, I'm quite busy at the moment. Mainly busy with finding bugs and then processing and reporting them and of course learning how to use Flax ^^ As similar as Flax is to Unity, there is still a lot to learn and understand how things work.
Don't worry quality needs time😉
Haha you mention quality under THIS video :D
Frankly we need as many available game engines as we can get; having a dichotomy between Unity and Unreal was never a good idea. I'm a former Unity user, now primarily Godot 4+; but I am very interested in Flax and intend to give it a shot in a few months after I've reached a breaking point on my current project.
How are you getting on? Did you stay with Flax / find something else or go back to Unity?
I will definitely post an update video. I can't say when yet. I would like to take a little more time before I finally share my experiences and also say whether I will stay with Flax, move on or go back to Unity. I'm currently at Flax, but I'm still exploring the code based side of Flax as I'm trying to write my own plugin to use in an attempt to develop a game and I haven't done much with models/animations, worlds etc. yet.
They should go monthly pay instead, royalty is very thief like.
I prefer to have good tools that want me to succeed. If I actually owe Flax money, that's an absolute luxury problem for me that I'd love to tackle!
the "You know the reason!" in the thumbnail lmao
😍😍
flax renders reflection, while Unity doesn't. Flaw is using lower quality shadow, Unity isn't.
dont cry plzzzzzzz
@@Rogueixpresents I can't help T.T
Is there something similar to DrawMeshInstanced(script instancing) in Flax?
AFIAK there is currently none. But you can do that with docs.flaxengine.com/manual/graphics/shaders/custom-geometry-drawing.html GPU Instancing, however, is already on by default.
idk if this is a proper test, i think is not, anyways, i've tried flax and is by far worst on performance than unity, not just that, also the level of quality in graphics is not at the same level. You need to check the level of quality of the shadows in both engines and also the quality of the physics...
Surely Flax had much superior graphics quality than Unity out of the box.
I don't think you can say a proper test for this. I mean... it only shows a certain excerpt from the engines. It's more than information for those interested and it's nice to look at. I turned the graphics settings on both engines to low. But I didn't touch the settings further. It seems that Flax has a lower shadow map resolution on the low settings.
The Flax game engine is rather new, you can't really expect it to be the same as Unity.
I get nicer graphics and similar FPS in the default project in flax compared to unity. What performance numbers were you getting and what test?
You just butthurt.
What the hell is this engine I've never heard of and how is it so good and how is it more performant than unity??!
If you want to know more about watch th-cam.com/video/tm9yktTzpDE/w-d-xo.html from @gamefromscratch
flax is like if unity and unreal had a child
i sub so you better make flux update in the future :) rooting for it
Haha, thanks. At some point I will give an honest overall opinion of Flax. I don't know when it's coming yet. But it will come when I have decided to stay with Flax for sure; to test another engine; or go back to Unity. But of course that will also influence my content. So... stay tuned and of course, I won't be mad at you if I change course and you leave me.
