Breakfast tip for work trips without a microwave: overnight oats
While on work trips, I try to eat as many healthy meals as possible to make up for not being able to workout as much and for splurging during lunch or dinner. Here’s what I do for breakfast!

Ironmaster Leg Attachment Review and Tips
มุมมอง 15K2 ปีที่แล้ว
A short review of the Ironmaster Leg Attachment as used on the Ironmaster Bench. Note that this is not the Ironmaster Pro version. I go over some pros and cons, workarounds and some tips on use.
Ironmaster Heavy Handle Plate Kit - Follow-Up
มุมมอง 7K2 ปีที่แล้ว
After having used the Ironmaster heavy handle plate kit for a few months, here are my pros and cons. Spoiler alert, the pros outweigh the cons. But don’t get me wrong, there are some cons to consider!
Ironmaster Heavy Handle Plate Kit - Unboxing, Installation, and Initial Impression / Review
มุมมอง 7K3 ปีที่แล้ว
I finally got my hands on the Ironmaster Heavy Handle Kit, www.ironmaster.com/products/heavy-handle-plate-kit/. Check out my unboxing, initial impressions, insight, and at the end, poor ability to do simple math (I said that 35 lbs minus 15 was 25! Ugh, it’s 20). If you enjoyed the video, hit the like button! I have many of the ironmaster/ super bench accessories that I can review. Thanks for w...
Thanks for the info about the wrists and the pec fly. Not seeing any videos of people doing flys with these but just on normal press it does look like there is some rubbing on the arms.
Which attachment do you think are essential? For example the leg press, preacher, dip bar are essential compared to the pull up etc.
@@cs14532playa great question! I personally use the leg curl/extension attachment the most, followed by the pull-up attachment, dips attachment and the decline legs attachment. I rarely use the preacher curl attachment (you can do the same move on the bench itself in an incline) nor do I use the back extension attachment (too bulky) much.
Thx for keeping it real
They are called Allen wrenches, not hex. Past that comment, you made a very good review!
Hi guys quick 11 min + review! What's your standards on slow?
Ohh that looks good for nordic curls
I don’t think I’ve tried that! I’ll test it out on my next leg day and will report back!
@@axelgutierrez4075 sweet!
From where did you get the small ceiling mounted storage rack the white color one? All the ones which I find are at least 6 ft long
Hi! It’s a SafeRack from Costco that I got over 10 yrs ago. I’m not sure what sizes/colors they still produce. Good luck on your hunt!
Great video.
Thanks for taking the time shooting this video. Keep it coming.
Thank you man, bought this bench back in May and had no idea they had this attachment, and im honestly amazed at how many attachments this thing has. Design wise its fantastic. Its not perfect but for a home gym? It gets the job done and can save you tons of money in the long run.
Thank you for watching and congrats on your purchase! I agree wholeheartedly. It’s not a perfect bench but it’s AMAZING for home use. I have most of the attachments so please let me know if there is anything you’d like to see. I’ve developed tricks to maximize the attachments over the past 10+ years!
The padding must always be thicker
Hi, do the screws hold the 7.5lbs plates securely and strongly? Or the plates tend to move a bit on the handle? Since I would use the Heavy Handle Plate Kit only for certain exercises, can the quality be affected if I put on and off the Plates 4-5 times a week?
Hi! The plates are very secure and haven’t needed to be tightened at all. I’m not sure how they would handle being taken off and put back on multiple times a week. It sounds like more trouble than they’re worth to me!
@@axelgutierrez4075 Thanks a lot
That's not really what they were designed for though. It's for those that just want a higher starting weight at all times. They're meant to be put on and left that way - not constantly on and off. What exercises are you referring to and at what weight specifically? If you're using them as intended, you shouldn't want to ever remove them.
$159 to much for #15
you want more angle, more stretch equals more muscle activation
Typically I’d agree, but the iron master is different. There is no angle at the waist, which would help alleviate stress in the lower back. So to compensate, it helps to not have the starting position of the legs being locked out.
Appreciate the detailed vid and extras, I’m going for the PRO version, I love working the legs 🦵
I have the dip attachment but you cant add weight with a belt due to the circular bar of the bench
Good point. I’ve never tried but I have a belt and the dip attachment also. Have u tried putting the dip attachment facing the bench pad side? At least it won’t clank against the metal!
They don't slide along the bar with time?
I can honestly say that they haven’t moved a bit since I attached them! I do a routine check every 6 months, but there’s been no need to retighten!
@@axelgutierrez4075 thanks
you can order the leather covers, they feel much better with it on. I love the leg attachment its one of my favorite attachments for the super bench. I use to use it for back exercises and even for calf raises. You can definitely get creative with this piece
Thanks for the tip! I’m sure it’ll preserve the foam pads for years to come!
How have you been liking the ironmasters? I have a pair myself and powerblocks. Have you gotten use to change the weights and the time for such. I’m still getting use to it. But no doubt at heavier weight ironmasters feel so solid compared to a 80lb powerblock
There are definitely pros and cons to both ironmasters and powerblocks! I too have both sets and use them for different workouts. I haven’t gotten quick at changing the ironmasters, even after over 10+ yrs of owning them! I like to use the powerblocks for my workouts where I have best control: chest presses, overhead presses, curls, etc. I have my ironmasters preset for when I might fail or come close to it. For example, I’ll use the powerblocks for chest presses up to 80. Then I’ll switch to my ironmasters for 90. I also find ironmasters the only way to do tricep overhead extensions. How do you work both dumbbells into your workouts so far? I love hearing and adopting everyone’s tips and tricks!
@@axelgutierrez4075 I think Pepin Fast maybe the closest thing we may find to the “ideal” adjustable dumbbell. But I currently use the Powerblock Personal Trainer Set for all movement’s under 50lbs as it maxes at 50 but i like that it goes in increments of 5lbs. I have the ironmasters preset at 60lbs so say for chest press if I’m going to go up to 60lbs I use the ironmasters but then mentally I’m already like damn I gotta switch the plates for 70s, 80s, etc. lol. then to go back down i’m like damn I switch down lol. It’s weird how that extra work is like a mental block in a way from me sometimes changing the weight. I was highly debating of buying a set of 90lb powerblocks elite usas just to say heck with it I want something fast you know. But then I realize why I kept the ironmasters. I do like the feel of it at higher weights and its easier to put on the stand at higher weights too. If the usa elites come available I may just pick them up and purchase extra handles so I can switch to 5lbs really quickly. I rarely go above 90lb anymore maybe for shrugs. But I guess that’s when I can load the ironmasters for so I’ll never part from those. But I’m thinking of selling my trainers and getting a usa elites with extra handles. I’ll primarily use the powerblocks for everything I’m thinking…..thoughts? The struggles we homegymers go through lol.
@@marucat2797 haha, I think many of us can relate with your predicament! Yes, just thinking about having to change the iromaster weight can be hard to overcome! It’s too bad that the ironmasters and powerblocks were such big investments that getting the peppins too would be hard to justify. If you’re thinking of upgrading your powerblocks, and you have the money, then it’s an amazing investment in your health! Especially if it’ll help you save time changing the weights and you can do all the movements you do! Woot has sales on the USA set and the add-on sets from time to time. Check out Slickdeals and search for powerblocks and you can see previous sales. Good luck my friend!!!
one thing i believe is underlooked when i think about the Ironmasters is that when you set the weight say 80lbs…..you don’t have to put them back in a nested stack. Trying to put that heavy weight perfectly in a nested stack like powerblocks, nuobells, pepin fast, would be hard i believe. At that weight I like the fact i can just place them on the stand. Like you said, I think i’ll use my elites for certain movements like maybe shrugs and medium weight pressing movements but for my heavy sets i feel most comfortable with ironmasters. Anything light I’ll use the the light powerblocks in 5lb increments. The hard life of home gymers lol hehe. Keep up the great content btw!
@@marucat2797no one else has brought this up. That’s a huge deal, unless you train with 2+ reps in reserve (I always go 0 reps in reserve) I can’t imagine trying to put a heavy set back into a cradle perfectly. As I hit failure, I use the momentum of my iron master landing on my knees to launch my up and forward out of my bench and then slam the dumbbells onto their stand 😂. I bought a set of bow flex 552 on FB marketplace for $50 to leave at work to hit arms/shoulders during lunch or breaks, and just one time trying to re rack into the cradle 🤮🤢 I’m really tempted to sell the iron masters and go with rep x peppins but I also drop my dumbbells and the cradle part bugs me as well
Thanks bro! I appreciate you putting this up
Glad to help!
Just saw your review and bought them. Thanks for the info.
Let me know if you enjoy them as much as I do!
I’m considering this attachment and looking for advice on what to use for weights. I don’t have any plates so looking for an economical option. Any suggestions?
Hi Ed! I failed to mention that the leg attachment also works with the Iron Master square weights if you have the dumbbells. I’m using the Olympic sleeve adapter in my video. It easily detaches if you have the standard weight plates or the iron master square weights. If you don’t have any weights at all, you can strap bands to it and anchor one side to something that won’t move. Another alternative would be to make your own weights using an inexpensive plastic mold and pouring cement. There are quite a few videos for that option!
muchas gracias por tu canal y tus videos
Ordered the leg extension the other day, waiting for it to arrive . Like to watch everybody’s videos on the Ironmaster. Thanks for the review / info on this attachment !👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks for the feedback! I know you’re going to love the additional exercises the attachment will allow you to do!
@@axelgutierrez4075 👍👍
Where did you get it from?
@@Qursheed1 if you’re in the US, ironmaster.com has both the normal and pro versions available to order!
Do you happen to have the measurements for the square tube that goes into the bench for the attachments? Also could you gdt the height from the floor to the bottom of the tube?
Whats the differwnce between the pro and the v2 iroaster bench? I sold my powerblock bench to get the ironmaster. Hopefully I made the right choice.🙄
Just based on all the attachments you can get for the super bench, I think you’re upgrading from the powerblock bench! The construction is also top notch. As for the super bench pro v2, it replaces the older super bench pro. There’s a new handle and etched numbers for the incline. The bench I have in the video is the old non-pro version. It sits higher than the pro, which many people dislike. Either way you go, pro v2 or regular, you’ll be happy!
@@axelgutierrez4075 I think I will get the pro which I think is not as high as the regular bench rigjt? What does the hybrid pad do on tje v2? Don't see much difference between the pro and v2, they both are the same dimmensions rigjt?
@@futbol1972 I don’t think they sell the pro anymore. Your only choices on the site are the pro v2 and the regular super bench (which I have). The hybrid pad seems amazing in the videos I’ve watched. It is more firm than the bench I have and has 2 widths which helps with certain exercises. If you’re able to find a pro v1, you don’t get the hybrid top but it’s still more firm than mine. One thing to consider is that the attachments you’ll get must be “pro” compatible because of the height difference.
Since the heavy handle plate sticks out a bit more than the regular 5lb plates , how has the hex screws hold up? I’d assume whenever you put the weights down, all the weight will be on the heavy handle kit and therefore the stress will be on the screws.
Great question and glad to give an update! Surprisingly, it hasn’t loosened at all. I thought it would have to be tightened regularly, but it’s as tight as it was at the start!
Get some ratchet straps the you can attach it anywhere
Can’t u just raised the angle of the bench to elevate the bench ?
Hi! Unfortunately no. The leg attachment is at a fixed height, so if you change the bench angle, the attachment won’t touch the ground and will be unstable.
@@axelgutierrez4075 Thank you!
Hey man. I ended up getting this and my wife thought of a great idea to use a stack of magnets on the post where the threaded stopper hits to give it some extra height. It ended up working great. I use the magnet stack for leg extensions but take it off for leg curls. I ended up taping the stack together so 1) the magnets don’t separate and 2) they don’t scratch the powder coat.
Your wife’s a genius! Thanks for that awesome tip! I’ll hunt down some big enough magnets ASAP. If you decide to post a video on your solution, link me up!
@@axelgutierrez4075 are you on IG? I can DM you a video of what I did. I had some spare magnets that aren’t that big but they’re big enough to work really well. Edit: it was nice chatting!
This review just sold me. Nicely done!
Thanks! You won’t be disappointed with your investment!
Do you know if the super bench pro and leg attachment fixes these issues? Can you still do seated calf raises with the ironmaster super bench pro model?
Hi Matt. Unfortunately I don’t have the Pro to compare it to. Based on the videos I’ve seen, the starting position is at a nice incline unlike the flat position of the standard bench. And it does look like you can still do the same calf raises. Note that the calf raise is just a hack that I and some others do. Ironmaster does sell the calf raise block to do standing calf raises. I have that as well and I mix those in for my calf routines. I hope that helps!
Probably use Styrofoam and some tape to create a spacer to keep that 90% angle you want. @5:45
Those are some interesting insights on the cons I haven't seen anywhere else. Thanks for the video.
Cool
I find that the larger diameter HHK makes changing plates harder.
I’m sorry for the late response but I agree to a degree. The plates used to sit perfectly in height with the pin. With the HHK, I have to wiggle the pin I’m because it’s not flush anymore.
Great video. With regard to finding the notch, I just put the Allen screw tops on that side and use them instead of the notch as an indicator.
I’m thinking about ordering this good review Do you use it alot thanks
Sorry for the late reply! Yes, I use the attachment often. I’m currently doing a push/pull/legs split, so I use this on one day for my quad, hamstring, calf workout. The other leg day I do standard barbell/dumbbell work
Awesome review and overview. I’ve been thinking about getting this for over a year. Could you glue/tape a thick piece of rubber or foam (or however many you need) to extend the screw 3 inches to get the ideal angle for the starting position?
Hi and glad you found the video worthwhile! Yes, that’s a good idea as long as the rubber is strong enough to take the stress of the weight you use. Maybe I’ll try a piece of wood. If I come up with an elegant solution, I’ll post a video!
you compare these with the pepin or baadass?
No, I purchased my Ironmasters many years ago before Pepin and Baadass came out. I do have a set of Powerblocks that I use often for very particular exercises and super sets.
After over a year of entering their lottery I finally won for the dumbbells and the 120 add on kit. Picked up both as well as the heavy handle kit. Getting all of my stuff tomorrow 💪 thank you for the review on this
Wow, congrats on your new investment! Let me know what you think when you get a chance to play with all your new gear!
lol you won the chance to buy them lmao shit was sad af during covid where you had to win a lottery to buy dumbbells lmao
Man i want these so badly!! Non in stock in the UK
Sorry to hear that the supply chain issues are affecting the UK as well! Perhaps following Ironmaster on Instagram will alert you of restocks. That’s how I got mine! Good luck!
@@axelgutierrez4075 ironmaster UK said loads of heavy handles in stock in 3 months time I just wait something look forward too thanks for the great videos
Thanks for the demo So even at 5"9 you scrape your feet when doing extensions 😕 I'm over 6"5, would have to elevate the bench if I were to get it to do that exercise. How does it feel 1 leg instead? Could you work in a different position? I tried a budget Chinese made adjustable bench at my local supplier and had a similar experience scraping the floor, no problems for leg curls though there
I envy your height! But yes, this would be an issue for the regular iron master bench. The pro version is at an incline I believe, which should help a little. You could also set the normal bench at an incline, but you’d have to find something sturdy to put under the leg press since it will no longer touch the ground.
@@axelgutierrez4075 would the incline help much? As the SB Pro is like 3 inches shorter than the SB
True, the shorter height of the pro might be an issue. They’re really good about responding to questions if you email them. I can try setting my bench at an incline and will report back!
@@axelgutierrez4075 ok cool You'd probably have to elevate the feet for the leg curl attachment? As yours is just a regular superbench I've seen Ironmaster just came out with a low backrest attachment for overhead shoulders and triceps, good idea as I'm not sure the preacher attachment would be suitable for that
@@redwhiteandblueblood I just checked the leg attachment. It is not height adjustable unfortunately. You can set the bench at an incline but you’ll need a block of wood to place under the attachment to make it stable. I hope that helps!
Great review and update from the last video. 👍🤙
Good review. Was hoping for reviews of the other Ironmaster things you have.
Thank you. I’ll get some videos up soon, promise. Any ironmaster accessory in particular you’re hoping to get a review on?
@@axelgutierrez4075 Any bench attachments you have. Thanks.
Excellent video. Bravo from the UK
Thank you! I’m long overdue to make a follow up video with my impressions after using them for a while now. They’re not as perfect as I originally thought, but they’re still great!
Good review!
Lol they put the lettering/label of the weight increment on the wrong side. I guess it's just easier to cast the iron this way. I put all 4 handle kit on one handle. Makes it super snug in your hands.
I’m going to try that now! I never thought of putting them all in a single handle. The fact that you can easily remove them is a big plus. I’m sure there are some exercises where having a snug grip is great. Thanks for sharing that tip!
@@axelgutierrez4075 Good luck, unless you have girly hands like me lol.. Not gonna be comfortable I imagine. Also if you plan to do it, put the most inner side plate so that the lettering is facing towards each other so you have more room for your hand. As in place the first pair on the dumbbell as you normally would, then put the next one with the lettering facing inwards. The dip in the plate will give you a bit more room vs if you put the flat side facing inwards. If that made any sense.
Lol did you ever try it and was it too tight? 😂
Thanks for posting this unboxing. Hadn’t seen these yet but now they are on my too-buy list. Looking forward to a review (if you haven’t posted yet) but seems straightforward enough. I agree though, I never drop these below 25lbs anyway so these make sense.
Hi Craig. Yes, I do plan on doing a short follow up video to show some of the exercises that are now a little awkward with the additions. I suggest following them on Instagram as they send updates on inventory that way.
Thanks for the video/demonstration These would go a long way to just about completing my Ironmaster set-up whenever I pull the trigger, got the 120 pound add on kit and have been upto about 105/110 pounds for flat presses and dumbbell sumos, but for pressing inparticular I don't see myself needing the 165 pound add on and voiding my lifetime warranty, so this is a good way to get to 135 pounds (just over 60kgs which is pretty heavy still) and pretty sure will still retain the original lifetime warranty.
Wow, you push some serious weight! I agree, this add-on kit doesn’t void the amazing warranty and is only a few bucks short of the 160 kit.
@@axelgutierrez4075 not many exercises I go that heavy, just flat presses and sumos normally. 55-90lbs is my normal training range for compounds, can only go to about 90lbs for incline presses for example, gets far too hard to get into position without a spot if I went heavier But yeah I noticed when I first got my set last year once I got to about 50-55lbs the centre of balance/weight distribution changed dramatically, so I generally go with a grip that's slightly towards the outside of the dumbbell rather than the inside, so as you mentioned in the video, hopefully another bonus of these heavy handle plates alters that balance/distribution to be more even the heavier we go.
@@axelgutierrez4075 also got the ultimate row handle delivered last week Used it for my back session yesterday, was sweet as for tbar rows, very similar knurling on the row handle compared to the dumbbells. Works great for cluster sets without needing to change grips or anything, go from wide row to neutral row or vice versa
@@redwhiteandblueblood nice! I’ve had my eye on the ultimate row handle but never pulled the trigger. It would be nice not to have to swap out the attachments when doing super or cluster sets. Are you planning to buy the additional chain/handle set to do flies with it?
@@axelgutierrez4075 definitely recommend the row handle. If you're using it on a lat pulldown it drops the range of motion height however due to its design, probably the only flaw with it (would only really bother taller people on a small machine) I think you'd still need a few cable attachments like a stirrup handle for one arm movements, ezy curl attachment for arms, triceps rope etc, maybe even MAG grips for something different, but this attachment replaces all the lat and row attachments pretty much Unlikely to buy the chain kit, but there's 2 extra holes where carabiniers go either side, so I guess that's where the chain kit is designed to fit, could probably sinch up a few different things to it too
Thanks for reviewing these. I just bought it. Mainly because of the reviews say it centers the dumbell far better. Also the weight plate change is as tedious as spinlocks. Always use itonmasters for heavier reps and powerblocks for lighter exercises
I hope you like the kit! I’m with you 100%. I use my powerblocks for supersets and lighter work because of the ease of changing weight. But when it comes to the serous weight where I might need to get a little rough, the ironmasters are my go to!
I agree with everything you wrote. The heavy handles balance the weights better and they let you get up to 90 lbs per hand if you have the first (to 75 lbs) add-on kit. I also have a non-expandable set of PowerBocks. The Ironmasters are used for anything above 50 lbs and the PowerBlocks are used for everything up to 50 lbs.
Thanks for the review. Going to have to pull the trigger and get them. The fit and finish looks great.
Thanks! The fit is perfect but I did run into issues with the finish being too smooth. I address that in my follow up video.
