Craftsman Radial Arm Saw (ripping with the wind.... is the wrong way to be a friend.)
มุมมอง 1.3Kปีที่แล้ว
What really happens when ripping on the wrong side of the blade. You could get a different action depending on what material you use for your table. Why try.... always rip (like the song) "against the wind".

Craftsman Radial Arm Saw (So, you can't jump.... can you dance.... lap dance that is).
มุมมอง 2.2Kปีที่แล้ว
Let see if this Craftsman Electronic Radial Arm Saw 113.197.250 can make two cuts for a corner half lap with just the blade. If so, I will be able to make a picture frame over-lapping the corners on a 45 degree. Rubbish!
Craftsman Radial Arm Saw (the first cut...... is the deepest)
มุมมอง 12Kปีที่แล้ว
Finally after a few more settings the new table on this Craftsman Electronic Radial Arm Saw 113.197250 will be cut for the first time. The digital read-out encoder for elevation, miter, bevel are set to 0 degrees. The kerf opener on the blade guard for ripping is adjusted correctly.
Craftsman Radial Arm Saw (getting to know you..... yes I do!)
มุมมอง 6Kปีที่แล้ว
The safe way of operating a Radial Arm Saw is to first calibrate and getting to know the beast for a lasting friendship. Lets talk about locking at 0 degrees, fence height, moving the fence back, arbor rotation of the motor on either side. The beast will bite if not handle properly, common sense is your best friend. HELLO!!!...... ground control, are you with me? Major RightHand here with Major...
Craftsman Radial Arm Saw set up in ripping and molding position. (part 3)
มุมมอง 1.8Kปีที่แล้ว
In this video this Craftsman Electronic Radial Arm Saw 113.197250 the blade needs to be calibrated vertical to the table in the ripping position. The last calibration on this machine will be the blade in the molding (horizontal) position parallel to the table. Good job!! now you have a perfect calibrated machine for perfect cuts...... and also a safe one.
Craftsman Radial Arm Saw cross cutting set up (blade square to table and square to fence). Part 2

Calibrating a Craftsman Electronic Radial Arm Saw 113.197250 vertical to the table and vertical to the fence in the cross cutting position. Yes!!! 90 degrees or square.

Thank you so much ! I order a similar camera from 2007 and I was only 2 years old at that time hahaha. Your video helped me to understand how it works and use it.
Lmao cast iron is BRITTLE!!! You are correct that it will not flex lol…. that was the silliest thing I’ve ever heard
“Stumpy” hurt himself trying one of those blades for an angle grinder that looks like a chainsaw blade…. I feel you, but I actually get a lot of info from his channel
Thanks very much!!!🔥💫
would love a video on how to use the electronic portion only. I've recently upgraded to an electronic version. but have no idea or manual on the electronic portion. Thanks
I was gonna buy a cordless skil brand saw, but after watching a few videos I think I'm gonna get one of these old ones instead. They seem to be loved by Americans who say the newer Skil brand saws aren't as good. (And made in China not the USA) Plus, I can pick one of these up used for like 30 bucks when the skil would have been over 100 with battery and charger. Can buy a new blade and still save money 😎
Thanks!! Appreciate all the info
My grandpa died a year ago and I've become the owner of set No 9 3218. I hope to get it set up one day soon and see what is possible.
Thanks for a good practical video on showing how these work!
Thank you very much for posting this series of videos. I inherited the same Craftsman saw from my dad and have been re-calibrating it since he was hard on his tools. My current problem is that in the ripping position the blade is not close to a 90% angle from the table, and I can't see how tightening or loosening those bearings is going to change the angle much. Is there any other way to change that angle?
As a basic homeowners molding cutter head, this kit is okay. But, it can be improved to run with the best out there with a little attention to details. Having been a tool and cutter grinder mostof my life, Ican msye with certainlty that any cutter head that has removable knives must be indexed for balance and smoothness. To do so turns these rudimentary tools into a real joy to use. To do so: 1) Get a dial indicator with a magnetic base. You should have one in your shop anyway. 2) Mount the molding head on your RAS or tablesaw and indicate the radial runout as the knives are slowly turned under the indicator. Mark and write down which slots and which cutters go together. 3) Remove each knife and mount it the next slot, measure, record, then repeat. Now you have a record of runout for each cutter and each slot 4) Now insert the cutters into the original slots and test again to see if they all repeat your first results within .002" If that is the case, you are lucky, if not, do this: 1) If there is a high cutter - say ..003"-.006" above th eother two, you need to first clean the slot, then test. 2) If it's still high, dress the cutter FACE, not the TOP, on a rough stone to remove steel. This will move the sloping top back, and into the generated path of the others. AFter you have gotten within .002", dress it on a fine stone and be sure to remove any wire burr along the cutting edge. 3) Test again. A balanced and well indexed rotary tool runs quieter, smoother, produces better shavings (these things should not produce chips), and is much easier on your machinery. Indexed cuitters should rest in the same position each time you change them. That;s why the best ones are so expensive.
I was fishing and I found one in the original box in the water so I got it it worked and I used it for a bit but didn’t get anything but static and then I brought it to a friends and there dog bit the microphone off.
But mine is a 49 sa
I think it’s on og one bc it’s on blue font and not the retro looking font
Someone knows is this camera can look like a Found Footage?
It sounds like you can shoot photos to the SD card but not video -- correct? The video has to be shot to the DVDs?
my question too, i cant get video on my camera but when im take a look on SD card, there is a video was take by camera
Oh jeez. I don’t know if your explanation just didn’t click for me or what but from what I understood this is the wrong way to use the tool. You’re supposed to set your zero level first then you use the depth adjustment to add it take away cutting depth. You don’t just shove it down
How do you rotate
Well said
Nice breakdown of the functions
I have both them, and the 3/8 set both of them.......use them all the time...like them.
There are many smaller Dewalts. I will get the bigger ones if I can, however. I have a 12-inch Craftsman and a 10 inch Dewalt. The 12-inch CM has plenty of power, needs 20-amp circuit or 240 volt, but I often use a 10-inch blade on it.
thanks

Thanks for this video! I'm looking at getting a used one and wanted to see how well it works. Seems like a reasonable little work horse.

Does this piece have any decent sound? The design is exactly what I want...
I used one of these today....needed to sharpen the blades or replace them
Do you still have this saw?
Thank you for sharing this. I see so many videos of "youtubers" making videos and they have 1 tool worth more than all my tools combined, plus my shed... let alone all their other tools... Seeing a normal guy with a Craftsmen tool and those letter templates is refreshing to say the least. Thank you, from South Carolina : )
My problem is closing the fuel door. It appear's to be closed but when i try an nail it opens up something not right.
I just bought these very same clamps this morning. I'll feel much safer for ripping and jointing my boards now. I'm looking forward to using them.
yes!, you will my friend, safety allways..... glad to help.
I bought a 40-year old Craftsman RAS a few months ago. I cleaned it up, put it on a WEN rolling stand, built a new table top (to Mr. Sawdust spec) and have been enjoying since. I use it almost daily.
When using the cutters do you also use the shaper molding fence craftsman made? I am interested to know if you can demonstrate the installation of fence?
Please excuse my ignorance, but I am new to radial arms How do you have the fence secured? I saw you reach behind and released the holding clamp on both sides. Then removed the fence. Thank you
I have almost the exact same Craftsman, 3-section aluminum guide. The only difference is the bubble vials are orange, square shaped. The model number for mine, written on the old cardboard box, is: 9-17177.
This was my beginning Dj.Mixer with my two 1200's Techniques Turntables as a young Dj in 1986 at age 17yrs. old.I got creative with that mixer scratching like U.T.F.O. Dj.Mix Master.Great times and memories.
I have been using them since the early 70's. I'm a retired cabinet maker, and I used to build cabinetry for customers with cottages on Lake Michigan. I have raised panel cutters that do concave, convex, and straight, panel cut's. They are the best way to build cabinet door's, but your setup must be good, with no allowance for wiggle, I used heavy fingerboards for this purpose, never a problem on Oak, Maple, Birch, Hickory was a little more fussier. but doable. I also used them to make all the custom trim, for Timber Frame houses, I never had a failure, I'm now 80, retired, but I have, and still use the original blades, occasionally dressing them on a diamond, or carbide stone.
what horse power were these?
1-1/8 or 1-1/2 horsepower, I believe.
how much if im going to buy some dvd to you? i can't find here on my country, sadly i can't use mine for a while...
Blade guard is broken?
Thank you for the demo!

Appreciate the info. Good video keep up the good job.
What year were the M-6 bobcat copyright ©/ trademark?
Wow that’s really cool I’m here because I was looking and found my fathers timing gun and we just so happen to have a 72 nova sitting around out of timing so this video was definitely helpful to a 16 year old with no experience or knowledge of this timing light
yes my friend, back then those were the day of "simple". each car is different. back in the day had two 1979 honda civic, if I can remember....... it was 6 degrees btc (before top center) with the engine running at 1800rpm and with the front high lights on. Also need to know the gap on your points. Good luck.
Not gonna lie missing my pops and I looked up a TH-cam video about these old school engine analyzers that he gave away to my buddy. My dad had one even older from the late 60s and he used it I believe on his Sunbeam alpine back in the day. Good damn it do I miss that man. Rest in peace Sig. I watched this whole damn video because this guy's voice reminds me a little of my dads
Thanks, want to see how these work as I consider building something similar for mine. Wish I could still get them but Craftsman thinks my saw should be thrown in the trash now because it's 20 years old (funny when you see all the videos of ones from the 60's still going strong!), they go for over $100 on ebay, I suppose because few people took advantage of the recall when it was open even though these saws are still everywhere.
