A 15-Session Course Beginning with a 𝗙𝗥𝗘𝗘 𝗖𝗟𝗔𝗦𝗦 𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝟭𝟵,* 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟯)
This will be our highest-quality course to date, a full course responding to all major challenges to Torah faith in regards to the historical grounding of the Exodus narrative.
We will present the extraordinary evidence and reasoning for:
* The Exodus of the Hebrews from Egyptian bondage, particularly the issue of chronology
* the life and career of a Moses-like figure,
* understanding the truth of the tokens of his prophecy, the signs he produced
* the scientific rationale for the Ten Plagues and antiquity of our approach in Judean scholarship,
* the hard details of the journey through the desert,
* the truth about Hebrew wordings and phrasings that have confused scholars for centuries
* the meaning of the Torah's description of miracles, including the truth of manna
* the roots of classical Torah faith and the struggle against cult of the Golden heifer in the inscriptions found at Serabit el-Khadim and elsewhere
* the geography of the Exodus and Kenite settlement
* how the Torah of Moses was preserved and came into the classical forms that have survived
* how textual variants to the Masoretic provide invaluable support for the historical case of the Exodus and the deep antiquity of the Torah
* and much more. 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗜 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗺𝘆 𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀. 𝙂𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙗𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙣𝙚𝙬 𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙘𝙝 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙄 𝙖𝙢 𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙤 𝙢𝙮 𝙙𝙤𝙘𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙖𝙡 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙨𝙞𝙨.
Learn how to read what I believe to be writings of the Hebrew leadership -- perhaps a few from a historical Moses -- in a very early form of Hebrew, written in ancient stone inscriptions found in the Sinai Desert (Serabit el-Khadim) that can be dated to this most appropriate timeframe for the Exodus. All depends on what custom you want to learn and from what period. The script evolved considerably over time. What you recommend is to train as a traditional sopher (scribe) in Assyrian script, and then teach yourself in which Israelite-Hebrew script you have mastered on your own, in reading and writing in pencil.

    Paleo Hebrew (still used by Samaritans)script was used by all Israelites( including Jews) before the Babylonian and Assyrian invasions/captivity. This is proven by coins from Jerusalem from the time before the captivity/exile of Jews. All those coins use the Paleo Hebrew script.

    • @OhevTorathMoshe

      Dear Anthony, I was never a working rabbi, but one who teaches not for profit. I have since taken a step back towards academia, shoring up the academic defense of Torah. The shift has a number of serious, compelling reasons, particularly in order not to clash with the rabbinical establishment. Another thing: although we identify strongly we Yemenite minhag, due to its association with the path of the RaMBaM, we never devoted ourselves to it as a religious obligation in and of itself. That is not merely due to my being Sephardic, but our rejection of ethnic custom as halakhah -- only an imperfect vehicle thereof. Whereas we've always prayed with the Yemenites and have been largely associated with them, we have always embraced a broader, non-Diaspora-minded approach to the Torah. Thank you for letting me know you miss the old content; I will keep it mind! Note that, on my new website, www.bigpicturetorah.com, we've included the old content I'm still proud of.

My wife and myself are looking to pay for a tutor for learning Hebrew. Authentic Hebrew. We live in New York. Do you or do you know anyone that teaches how to read temani pronunciation. My wife and I are approaching the end of our conversion and our rabbis accept our temani minHag even though they are not yemenite because that is the tradition we studied when we discovered judaism. Baruch Hashem our first exposure was Rambam and the temanim. How wonderful is Hashem. I can pray well with transliteration but I would like to succeed my capabilities to learn how to read the alefbet properly with temani tradition and trope. My conversion rabbis approve as we have been speaking hebrew and practicing this way for 3 plus years now. We don't know any other way. That being said. • @OhevTorathMoshe
      @OhevTorathMoshe 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sir, you are confusing between an ancient script and ancient pronunciation-- two totally different things. There is no such thing as "Paleo-Hebrew pronunciation". There are also different stages of Paleo-Hebrew, from Proto-Sinaitic (what was used at the time of the Exodus) through Samaritan script, with a number of different stages in between, as the script evolved. Like many things in life, it's complicated. It depends on what you want: tradition or a reconstruction. Reconstruction schemes are a matter of much debate. If you're looking for a tradition, you can only learn such things properly by attaching yourself to a community that practices thus. The Samaritans for Samaritan PaleoHebrew script and pronunciation, or the Yemenites for a somewhat more a largely more accurate tradition of the latter.

    The morrocan ethrogh (no idea about the yemenite) grows upright, due to a botanical technicality (it grows on stronger branches that are not pushed down by its weight where as other varieties grow them on younger branches that are bended down by the weight of the fruit) perhaps in yemen the ethrogh was bred to have large heavier fruit and so it was bended down like the other citron?

    • @OhevTorathMoshe

      Its great size is not a Yemenite thing. The Talmud records that Rabi 'Aqiva (non-Yemenite living in ancient Bar Kokhba-era Judea -- the turn of the 2nd century CE) went to the synagogue with an ethrogh so large, it needed to be carried on his shoulder. The Samaritans have cultivated it around Shechem from time immemorial -- and theirs are so massive, only a 7-foot-tall giant would have a shoulder large enough to carry it Aqiva-style. XD You can see that not for nothing is it called the "ethrogh of Eretz Yisrael".

    I listened to your informative video and have a few questions I hope you can answer as well as some corrections: 11:01 - you mention Dr. Shaul Kaplan collected cuttlefish and Murex for Ptil Tekhelet. He did neither, he collected Janthina for his own experimentation. 11:34 - you mention the cuttlefish coming up on the shore as a common thing. Can you bring a source for this occurrence? 14:53 - you mention cuttlefish ink being commonly used to cure hemorrhoids. Do you have a source for this? 17:39 - you mention that techeiles does not need to be fast in certain soaps (which will remove the dye). Can you provide a source for this and does this not contradict mishna Niddah 9:6 where the ingredients of said soap are mentioned? That mishna is specifically discussing how a soap would NOT remove a dye. 25:01 - you mention how dye ovens would get to 900 degrees C? That’s 1652 F, which I think would vaporize any wool you put in it. Standard dye baths typically range at or near boiling (only 100C). 26:04 - you mention how an iron pot was used to get iron filings for the Radzyn techeiles dye process, yet the Rambam in his dye process only makes mention of a pot (not specifically an iron pot). Can you clarify how we know an iron pot must be used to get techeiles (as this is an essential ingredient to Radzyn techeiles)? You failed to discuss the Gemara Sanhedrin which mentions the chilazon appearing on the mountains. How does the cuttlefish match this claim? 37:46 - you mention that cuttlefish ink is not an active ingredient in the techeiles dye process and that chemically any blood could be used, as it is the ingredients to the dye process that are necessary to get techeiles dye. Does this not directly contradict Tosafot (Menachot 42b) in which it is stated that the ingredients are NOT necessary to get techeiles, but only help the dye bind to the wool BETTER. 39:34 - earlier in your video you mention that cuttlefish ink was commonly used for dye, yet you present here that there is little/no historical evidence of cuttlefish ink being used to dye. Other than what I discussed, I’m fascinated by the arguments you brought forth (as well as the description of the Radzyn dye process). Hashem should help us so we can all be zocheh in this mitzvah.

    In the video you said that people were still using paleo hebrew script even 2200 years ago. I'm curious if you think that most of the tribes of Israel changed scripts around the same time, or if they would have changed at different times? And If the process to change from the paleo hebrew script was a change over time, when would you say was the main year period when it would have reached more than 50% using the more modern script? Thank you for this video and for the chance to learn.

    • @OhevTorathMoshe
      @OhevTorathMoshe 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was a gradual change. Even as late as 2100-2200 years ago, some Judean scribes were holding on to the old script. Just as today, there were only two tribal groupings in the Land at that time: the first group, the Yehudim (Jews), were nearly all returnees from Perian-era Babylonia. They included not only descendants of the Tribe of Judah, but other tribes as well, but identified as a group, being descendants of the survivors of the now defeated Kingdom of Judah. The second group, a larger popul in the Land, were those who identified as Bani Yishraael/Benei Yisrael (Israelites), branded by Jews as "'amei HaAretz" and "Shomerim/Notzrim" ("Keepers") or "Shomeronim", and eventually branded as "Kutim" due to the enmity that had developed over the Shechem/Jerusalem rift. The latter group, were actually the descendants of the tribes of the Northern Kingdom of Israel, most of whom were never exiled by Assyria. Being mostly natives of the Land, they had less pressure to adopt Aramaic script, and hence never lost it, to this very day.

      There is no scroll representing a "50%" mark, because a scroll written "50%" would be of no use to anyone. However, I think it is safe to say that it probably got to the point where scribes were evenly divided between those writing in Hebrew, and those writing in Aramaic script in the early 1st century C.E. I surmise that based on the Psalms Scroll found in Qumran (DSS 11q5). It is dated to 30-50 C.E. (What Christians call A.D.) One one hand it is written in beautiful Aramaic/Ashurit script, but the "azkaroth" -- the Names "YHWH" -- are written in Paleo-Hebrew. In other words, it writes the Torah in Assyrian, but stops when it comes to the sacred Name. This seems to represent a compromise scroll, suggesting its creation at a time when the scribal community was heavily divided between the two camps.

      @@noahriding5780 Well, the chance of anyone having a biological connection to Abraham is enormous. His name change came to connote "אב להמון גויים" -- "father to many nations." But the Torah makes it clear "כי ביצחק יקרא לך זרע" -- "through Isaac will your seed be called." Lineage is much more than mere biology. Regarding the Parthians -- that is out of my spheres of expertise, but yes, that could good sense.

    That was an interesting video on Yom Teruah, the Feast of Trumpets. This is a big subject with many biblical and musical spiritual connections that relate to the Fall Feasts and the final 7 years of this age. The dispensationalist pre-tribbers have led off on this by saying, Feast of Trumpets = Last Trump = Resurrection-Rapture of 1Thes. 4:15-17 and 1Cor. 15:51. That quick and rather sloppy eisogesis suits their purpose in trying to tag Yom Teruah with a Rapture that comes at the. beginning of the future 70th Week, that is, a full 7 years before the end of the age. Please allow me to launch out into a little lament on this matter. Most of the rest have followed in lockstep with the dispensationalists. We are not studying the word “teruah” properly. Nor are we listening to the musical character of the Teruah. We do not pause to listen and contrast the call to assembly and call to repentance in the teruah shofar blast with that of the spirit and musical character of the Tekia Gedolah with its epic note of finality and closure. The Teruah, with its note of alarm and its call to remembrance and repentance does not have this note of finality at all. The word “teruah” just by itself lends itself to a word study. We need to open up our online Bible Study tools or Blue Letter Bible to study and get to work. We need to track down the root word for “teruah” and determine what the word really means. Then we need to see how the word is being used those 33 times in the Torah. Then too there is the spirit, the musical character, the artistic impact, and the military use of the staccato notes that are in the teruah shofar blast. This begs the question of its future divine purpose. Are we interested? No one is looking into this it seems. For pre-tribbers we can well imagine why they do not wish to look into this matter. They take no responsibility for the future 70th Week of Daniel. They consider it just a chamber of horrors with no purpose in God for them to even be there. There are many seedy back stories here. One of them is the scurrilous story that the Holy Spirit is the Restrainer of the beast demon that possesses the Antichrist and that the omnipresent Holy Spirit will take a hike for those final 7 years. Yes, Christians are happy to believe that the omnipresent Holy Spirit will exit the planet! So quite understandably, they are afraid. They are happy to go along with the crowd and are planning on “going AWOL” for the future 70th Week. But for the post-tribbers who are not survivalists, the true Elect who have taken responsibility for the end-time witness, why, pray tell, is this deep study of the Fall Feasts and the teruah in particular not being done? Why is it being so badly neglected? A deep dive study of these elements is not being done by our Messianic friends either. And nothing is spoken of these deeper elements of the teruah by Bible prophecy teachers across the board. I had hoped that our Messianic friends would do a Torah portion or two into this to help us. But alas, that is not happening. Nor are they interested in correcting the Torah non-compliant Jewish calendar. They seem more intent on abiding by Pharisaical tradition. We see this with their mis-handling of the Hebrew calendar placement of Firstfruits. They seem more beholden to ancient rabbinical commentary than just doing a straightforward Hebrew word study. The time is short. We so desperately need a proper biblical “study to shew thyself approved” type of excursion into these Biblical matters of Yom Teruah and the teruah. The teruah, along with the rest of the four classic Hebraic shofar blasts and their spirit, character, meaning, and purpose need to be explored ASAP. And right now, well, the teruah and Yom Teruah is not being explored much at all. This is a bad rap for us. Here are a couple of videos just to get the conversation going. These came out seven years ago. And what has been the follow up from this? Crickets. Dear saints, the time for that epic coming fulfillment of Yom Teruah is drawing short. The 70th Week could open up this decade. And with it the Joel chapter 2 scenario. But alas, this study of the Teruah is being sadly and grievously neglected. Brothers and sisters, there is no excuse for this. Please, look into this matter and lets get the conversation started. I find it intriguing, that in Sumerian mythology, the g-d of the Sun was called UTU or Shamash. He was also the g-d of justice and of astronomy...chief of travel in the heavens. His sign was a circle with four elongated triangular rays coming from the 4 compass points. Between each two rays came forth 3 waves lines...12 in all. There is much speculation as to its meaning. It is beyond the scope of my comment. I never thought the menorah hid knowledge as you suggest. I see the logic in it. In Sumerian mythology, earth, or ERIDU, was the seventh planet not the the third. It is seventh if one counts from the outermost planet working ones way toward the sun. There are seven candles on the menorah which may or may not be a representation the earth. Hashem is king of the earth as well as the universe...the question remains...Did Hashem make the planets and the earth from the outside in or the inside out? I submit he made the earth, and finished it on day 6...a number that might represent the six outer planets: 1. Neptune, 2. Uranus, 3. Saturn, 4. Jupiter, 5.(the asteroid belt, or Hammered bracelet), 6. Mars, and Earth then he rested on Shabbat. I conceded that perhaps I spend too much valuable time thinking about these things. So I must reserve the right to be wrong. Thank you for such tangible insight .
