I understand wanting to cut down on plastic waste but having just one layer between this gorgeous yarn and the porous cardboard box that is exposed to the elements would go a long way. Mine arrived a little musty smelling and I considered returning. Which would add to shipping waste. Instead I’m going to try to double wash the blanket when I have it constructed to remove the smell. That doesn’t feel great for the environment either. Would much rather have had a plastic layer between my yarn and the box.

I'm most used to working with lightweight yarn, but recently got some super bulky yarn like this to make a blanket with. I love how much quicker it works up, but using the huge crochet hook started hurting my wrists quickly. Would it be worth it to learn to hand knit/hand crochet rather than using the hook? I LOVE the puffy sunflower squares 💘 Edit: what I got was very thick, single ply polyester yarn. I have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA what to do with the ends!!! Especially when I cut it. I considered maybe burning them to melt and 'seal' the end so they dont slowly fall apart and unravel, but then there'd be hard crunchy bits throughout. Maybe it was just a poor choice of yarn 😅 maybe i should switch to making pillows so I can just stick the ends on the inside to hide them
