Chill music and cool projects!
I vibe while I turn and it's an important part of why I love this hobby! Sometimes what I make is a reflection of how I feel at that time. After all, woodturning is an art, and what is art if not an extension of how you feel!! So come on over and vibe to the beats, chill to the mood, and relax with each chip I shave off!

Turning The Shattered River
As No Effort November comes to a close, I have to confess... My mother's birthday is today and as a gift to her, I spent significantly more time on this project than the rest this month. But do not fret my friends, I'll supplement with a simple video net week! In the meantime, enjoy the show!
For Woodworkers:
This was an offcut from all the spalted maple wood I've been using this past year. I'd planned on doing something with that live edge but I decided against it. As the process went, I milled up the wood and coated it in a couple layers of polyurethane to help prevent outgassing during the resin pour and cure. That worked wonders and there are next to no bubbles. However, I screwed up with the heating process. I assume I applied heat to the resin unevenly which created cracks in the final cure. I spent entirely too much time filling the cracks with CA glue to stabilize them during this turn. All in all, it went well though. Sanded to 3K grit, polished and buffed. Mom loves it regardless!

Will It Stay Square???
มุมมอง 23421 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
No Effort November continues as I don't even go as far as to make square things round this time! LOL. Simple and sweet but still a decent result for only an hour of work and no real effort! For Woodworkers: This was turned (barely) from a 6"x6"x3" (15x15x7.5 cm) block of hard maple. I trimmed a little off the sides before I started to square it up properly, then got to turning. There's a few ch...

The third week of No-Effort-November is coming to a close and I've come to you with another low effort project. It may seem like a lot of work, but when I say I was winging it, I mean it. I had no plan and I stuck to my guns. There were a couple chips, but I wasn't going to try to fix them. What you see is what you get! For Woodworkers: These were turned from Red Iron Bark wood. It's good to wo...
Turning a New Tuner
มุมมอง 15321 วันที่ผ่านมา
Week 2 of "No Effort November" has arrived and I've procrastinated and pulled off a last minute project. I've been meaning to tune my piano for years and I'm just getting around to it.... well, I just got around to restringing a few notes so now I can tune it! Anyway, the tiny little tool I was using sucked as the handle was only a few inches long. Solution? Turn a new one!! And no, I can't pla...
The Sandy Beach Cup
มุมมอง 227หลายเดือนก่อน
Hello all and welcome to No-Effort-November, where I do as little as possible during the entire month. Expect some shorter videos with very simple concepts! I have a ship in a bottle keg flask thing that I set out on the bar every so often. I took it out this time and it reminded me that summer is over. So I made a cup to bring me warm sandy thoughts! For Woodworkers: Yes, I omitted the resin p...
Turning a Halloween Jack O' Lantern

Spooky season is almost over. It's a shame it doesn't fall on a Friday this year. Oh, but Jack sure is happy to make his debut! This was my original Halloween turning idea, but I felt it was best to leave it for last! Whether you engage in the spooks or not, hopefully Jack will inspire you to make cool projects yourself! For woodworkers: The pumpkin was turned from a small offcut of solid maple...
Spooky Potion Bottle
มุมมอง 725หลายเดือนก่อน
That's more like it... And I think they're perfect compliments of each other! This took quite a while to make. I've learned that with resin, you really have to take really light passes to avoid chip out. But with all things, a little patience is all you need! For woodworkers: I used a different brand of epoxy than what I used in the previous video. The vacuum chamber really got rid of 99% of al...
Spooky Purple Cup
มุมมอง 344หลายเดือนก่อน
So, this was a little project I've had in mind for a while. I wasn't sure how it would turn out, and it's nothing like how I imagined it. The resin pour didn't go as well as I'd planned, but I did learn a lot along the way. The shape is nothing to write home about, though I'm sure some will like it. In the end, I finished the project. While it does look pretty, it's left a lot to be desired... ...
The Autumn Acorn Candle

So, I started a project for this week, then I started another project for this week, then I started another project for this week.... I've got a lot of things in the works for this spooky month!! I've wanted to make an acorn for years, but I've never really known what shape to make it or what its utility would be. And then I remembered, I've made candles before! So, sit back and enjoy the slow ...
Autumn Whisky Tumbler
มุมมอง 2122 หลายเดือนก่อน
Happy Autumn! (for my northern hemisphere audience). Tis the season!! I'm working on another "autumn" themed project and really liked the orange resin I was using, so I decided to do another project with it! Super simple, just a little oak whiskey tumbler with the cracks filled with epoxy resin. For woodworkers: This was turned from a chunk of oak that I've had for a while. It was never stabili...
This Wood Is DENSE!!
มุมมอง 9322 หลายเดือนก่อน
TL;DR: This wood (Yellow Mora) is super dense. So dense, the heads of the screws sheared off when I tried to put the faceplate on. I had to pre-drill more holes to get it secured, then come back later and get the old screws out the wood somehow. Had a few catches doing the inside so it's not perfectly smooth. It looks nice, but boy oh boy did I hate turning this piece!! The Full Story: This was...
Is That For Soap??
มุมมอง 2.4K2 หลายเดือนก่อน
Finally, what we've all been waiting for!!! A soap dish!! All my years of woodturning have culminated in this final project. A soap dish. Watch as I amaze everyone by giving my soap a new home! I'm so proud! For woodworkers: This was turned from a small 4x4x1.5" (101x101x38mm) block of teak. The idea was to turn a dish and elongate it along a set of rails, in this case, strips of purple heart. ...
Fixing A Broken Walnut Bowl
มุมมอง 2482 หลายเดือนก่อน
A few years ago, I tried making a bowl out of walnut. it didn't go so well. Maybe I was a little too tipsy back then. Seriously though, I was new to turning and didn't consider the wall thickness while turning and ended up going right through the bottom. I remember the piece flew right off the lathe and ended up half way across the shop. I hung it on my garage door as a reminder to not screw up...

New Vibes - Slight Change Of Scenery!
Sucks that your pour cracked, but your vase was beautiful and I love the spalted wood with blue epoxy ❤️
Nice work brother good job
Very lovely! Excellent use of resin! I think the cracks add to the look. Happy birthday to mom!
Thanks as always!!
That wood with the color of epoxy is awesome brother.
Thanks, I really appreciate the feedback
Normally I'm not keen on resin projects but this one is an exception. I like the blue tinge in the transparent resin - like Arctic ice. Very nice job mate, and another very enjoyable video. Thanks, as always.
Lucky for you, I'm running out of resin and don't plan on doing much more in the near future! Its messy and gets everywhere! Its like sand... Yuck! Thanks as always for stopping by!!
Simple and cute!
Wow, I wish I could tidy up like that. Great result mate, great vid.
LOLLL that eyebrow raise. Reminds me of this dude I used to work with. Classy!
Yes sir! nice work!
Yeah, great job and really entertaining vid. Shame that oak is so chippy but, hey we had fun anyway. Cheers mate, I enjoyed that.
Awesome!!! I like how they are all different! Bummer about the tool that broke I hate getting used to new ones.
Now that’s something awesome
What????? This is amazing!! And the wood turning is pretty darned cool too!! 😎 Is there anything you can't do??? 😊
Nice Piano playing! Great work on the tuner handle!
Ha! Loved the Groucho-style comedy bit. Although I almost fainted at the knuckle-cracking bit. Cheers mate, another super vid.
I loved that opening; it definitely brought a smile to my face. Your woodworking is always a joy to watch, and your silent humor makes it fun. EDIT= not only do you play piano but know how to tune it. You are talented A pity we only can give a thumbs up, and not 3 stars.
Neat! Always nice to get those little things done!
Hahaha "no effort November"!!! I like it. Very nice work on the cup, one of my favorites!
❤ beautiful subbed from the UK ❤
Marvelously evocative of the shoreline. Thanks mate, as always. Oh, and I loved the music.
Glad you enjoyed it! Always a pleasure to hear from you!
Very pretty!! Lovely shine!
I spent way too long getting it that clean and clear... I love it though!
HAHA! Great show! Why is the Rum always gone??? Turned out great, nice pumpkin!
@@jonstyron2930 I love the Pirates movies.. They're some of my favorites! One year my costume was "Captain Black Sparrow" 😂😂
@@TheTipsyTurner 🤣😂🤣
Argh matey! Why are you so goofy?!🤣
Very ingenious. Thanks mate.
So cute! Great reveal!!
Excellent video and I love❤ the witches cackle ❤🏺
Hi, amazing work and result ! Congrats. Just to know, is it "food safe" to use this ? Thank you
Thank you! The resin should be food safe once it has fully cured. If ever you're unsure, you can always coat with a layer of another food safe finish.
HAHA!!! Nice "potion" bottle indeed! The lighting was a great idea! I like it!
Glad you liked it!
Very nice! I love it!
Dude, that's cool.
It is, and I wish I liked it more!... But every project is a learning experience for both me and you!
SPOOPY!
Really admire you just trying resin out without much experience. Thats literally the first step to doing anything new and it sucks how many people are too afraid to try!
I'm trying another "spooky" project! Hopefully it turns out well 🙂
I really like that cup. Great idea!!
Super simple, right? I hope I can make it easier along the way!!
Neat! Tons of potential for a project like that!
😉
That was a great idea! The color combo turned out really good.
I think so too! Much appreciated!
Beautiful maple! You just have all kinds of different talents! Glad the kitty is home safe!
It would be an extremely mighty oak that would grow from that 'little' acorn. I really like the recessed rim of the beret-style hat. Very fashionable. Cheers mate, great job. Oh, and your cat came back unscathed?
He came back from a nice vacation, fully refreshed and okay. Though, right now, he's a pumpkin 😉
@@TheTipsyTurnerThe Adventures of Pumpkin Cat. I'd watch that...
Great Job Man! Love it.
Thanks, I appreciate it!
As always, great work! I like the resin rim.
Thank you thank you!
Great color choice! Really great design!
I too like the autumn aesthetic with the orange and oak.. It is October, so there's more to come! 😉
Another beauty, great finish. Thanks mate, always good stuff, I appreciate it. Love the music too.
Thank you Sir, it's always a pleasure to have you here!
Very nice, and a very drink on ice
How about advice, not a music video
Sorry, that's not what I do here.
Nice work! Good looking bowl
Nice work, the tight grain reminds me of a Granadillo bowl i did. Subscribed and looking forward to seeing new videos!
Awwww, I love that!! 😊
That’s a nice looking bowl!
Thanks! It ended up being a pain to turn, but it does look nice, doesn't it?!
Such a pain when screws shear off but the whole saga was definitely worth the trouble - it's a beautiful result. Thanks mate, I enjoyed watching that.
Really really nice!
Nice
Great idea! Very nice work
