It would be hard to live with myself if I declined that kind of cash and never got close to that kind of money ever again. Like wtf was Jackie thinking? A guess a bluff on his part because I heard a few days later he called and accepted the initial offer when he realized that they weren’t playing… they told him “that’s it,that’s the final number,take it or leave it” and he left it thinking they weren’t serious like the previous negotiations but they were. I would not be able to live with myself seeing the success of the show without me and the move to Sirius… oh lord it would sting. It would sting less if he made half that money or quarter of that money but he didn’t even come close. Greed ladies and gents. Remember greed is the mother of all downfalls. This man wasn’t humble to realize that $600k is a lot of money and the future would have been ever more money for him plus endorsements,his stupid shit he sold,etc etc. but he didn’t want it. He wanted a million I heard. Delusional for a man that wrote jokes one liners on a piece of a paper and handed it to Howard for 4 hours a day. Anyway We got ten years of Artie Lange because of Jackie’s dumb move. Those were the best 10 years of the show.

Stuttering john has never been funny. Ever.

The first two minutes of this might be the funniest radio of all time.

Listening to this but made me really appreciate how good the show got after they replaced John with Richard and Sal. John had nothing to say but was constantly interjecting. Half the time he just repeated something Howard just said.

What Jackie did was the equivalent of a sports holdout. He thought the show would immediately fall apart and they would beg him back. That was delusional but on brand with his whole passive aggressive attitude. And it was not just the base salary that he gave up, but a fortune in comedy show revenue. The show guaranteed a sell out for the venues he played.
