    I moved my LR catalogs in one drive to an external drive and deleted from one drive. Why did it delete it from my external drive as well? Im so sad about that because I had formatted my sd card and it was all lot pictures from our roadtrips from this year!

    This helped me create a new Lightroom photo library on my external SSD but now Lightroom points to that empty library and I can't see any of the pictures on my computer's internal HD. Now I need to find a video to show me how to find my original photo library so I can move my pictures. My goal is to completely move my Lightroom photo library to an external SSD so that when I import them, they go right to the external drive instead of clogging up my smaller internal drive.

    I just watched this, but how do I move those photos to the external drive? I am looking for a way to add my external drive to the scratch disk. I did it in Photoshop, but I don't see a way to do it in Lightroom (Classic). If it continues to use only my hard drive as a scratch disk, it will be full again very soon (I deleted some of my Lightroom backups).

    I usually export my images png from photoshop and I noticed my storefront prints have to be in JPEG mode. Are you editing your photos originally in jpeg or when client selects images sending the jpeg files for printing?

    • @morgantolentinophotography
      @morgantolentinophotography 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I only shoot and edit in RAW. But when exporting in Lightroom I export in JPEG.

    Morgan, when you got your R6, was the R6 Mark ii out? If so, Is there a reason for picking the R6 over the R6 Mark ii?

    • @morgantolentinophotography
      @morgantolentinophotography 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It was not! I love my original r6 so I can only imagine that the r6 mark ii would steal my heart. I will likely upgrade to it in the next month or so.

    So did it make a copy of all the raw files when you opened up where the photos were or only the ones that you imported for editing?

    you did not talk about watermarks how do I make sure that there is a watermark on the image and then it goes away when they buy it...

    • @BryantDevon
      @BryantDevon 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey! You might already have an answer for this but on Pixieset you can upload and name your watermarks. When you go to upload a gallery you can choose which watermark to use. The watermark will be removed automatically when the client orders prints and digital downloads. I hope this helps. Also, you can set the watermark to stay on for web-sized images for the client too! I love this feature.

  • @davewatlingphotography

    I'm confused. Your title is "How to fix a full SCRATCH disk", and yet you seem to be talking about how to fix a full hard drive. Lightroom has a "Scratchdisk" folder that is full of nothing but cached DAT files, and you set the capacity of its Scratchdisk in the performance tab and the "Camera Raw Cache Settings". That determines how full you let your Scratchdisk get. Am I missing something? A full Scratch disk is not the same as a full hard drive.

    • @PhilJonesIII
      @PhilJonesIII 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Agreed. It makes sense (to me) to keep all RAW/JPEG and catalogs on an external drive. I've had an external 8TB disk for some time and it works just fine, no issues. I create a lot of timelapse videos that can eat up multiple GB of disk space. What LR does is use my (not big enough) internal SSD as a temporary workspace. I understand that to be what is here called 'Scratch Disk'. This can be changed in Photoshop but, apparently not in Lightroom. At least, that's what I read on a rather unhelpful 'expert' site. Not just unhelpful, downright rude. "Just buy a bigger disk" is not an answer when I already have multiple TBs of available resource that they can't seem to point at. For me, changing the internal SDD also involves migrating the entire operating system and all other programs installed. Additionally, I want the internal drive used for static files/programs that are mostly read-only. I'm not comfortable using that kind of drive for thousands of read/write/delete operations. If I find a solution, I will post it here.

    I have a question. I have an external hard drive but it’s almost full. Can I just start using another drive and download my new photos to that? Or do I need to get a larger drive to keep my images all on the same drive? Thanks…

    I'm looking to deal with a full scratch disk, not my original image files, which this video appears to address. Not sure if your title needs to be updated or if I'm completely clueless, which could be possible.

    • @morgantolentinophotography
      @morgantolentinophotography 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Rusty, in order to address the full scratch disk caused by Lightroom you have to address why its full. It’s full because of your original image files and how you managed them. This video addresses both. You have to understand what caused the full disk, how to fix it, and how to prevent it. I have 2 videos that cover all these topics. Best of luck!!

    i use a PC, not a Mac, and my 1-TB hard drive only has 12-GB of space remaining. I use LR and want to remove all 30.000+ of my RAW images from my internal hard drive to an external hard drive. I have watched numerous TH-cam tutorials on this subject and this is not as simple as these videos say. I have to move each separate folder from "C" to an external drive, which is very time consuming. There must be an easier way. Corrective comment: the sound quality of your videos is way too quiet and too fuzzy sounding which make it very hard to understand what you are saying. Please upgrade you sound equipment.

    This is the first video I have seen that shows the process so well. Thank you! This is my first year doing less photos and trying to upsell to a full gallery in pixieset. I have two questions; 1- For my packages I have also advertised that each session comes with prints, so I wanted to include a code for lets says, $20 in prints. In the checkout can they do two gift cards? (One for the downloads, and one for the prints at the same time?) 2- I wanted to offer an upsell option where one photo is maybe $30, but the rest of the gallery would only be an upsell of $99. Is it possible to to make it that after 4+ extra downloads the price would stay at a base of $99 for the rest of the images? Also, I noticed that your images weren't watermarked to start. Should there be watermarks to prevent screenshooting?

    Thanks for the video. A couple points to consider (constructive criticism)- 1- You need to re-edit the intro part, because at the moment it includes the "outro" as well, before the screenshot demo. The outro should play after the demo. 2- If someone is stuck with a full HD, they need to move the EXISTING photos and catalog to the external drive. You didn't show how to do that, even though that was the basic premise of the video. You only show how to add a catalog. Other than that, it's pretty good, especially for a first effort. Keep up the good work.
